Summary: A Definite Must-See!
Review: This has got to be the best comedy of the summer! Mike Meyers and Eddie Murphy were absolutely hilarous... John Lithgow, was too funny for words. You have got to see this movie!There were tons of jokes, mostly tongue in cheek humor for adults. Although this animated tale might appeal to children, the humor is geared towards the adults. I won't give any examples in my review in fear of ruining it for those who haven't seen the movie yet. All I can say is that the punchlines are priceless, and the animation was excellent. It touches the heart in anyone. This is definitely a movie everyone can love, even a big green ogre! Excellent!!!!

Review: I just saw this yesterday before I went to my grandma's and it was funny let me tell you it's been one of the most popular movies of Summer 2001 hmmm I wonder if they'll do a sequel who knows? but right now you should enjoy a movie like this once you've seen this you'll probably wanna rent this on video and dvd I bet people will go crazy in 2002 to rent this on video & DVD please I recommend you go see this before it's too late if you put 1 star you'll be very sorry!!!!! :))))))) really happy

Summary: Excellent, Funny, Educating!
Review: I really enjoyed this film. Not only was it really cool with the new type of animation, it was very entertaining and had a great message. I enjoyed the fact that all the fairy tales were used and that the Ogre was not that evil of a character. I thought that the plot was well thought out and enjoyed by adults as well as children. Every child should see this movie and then want to learn more about all the fairy tales involved.

Summary: Good Movie with a Good Story
Review: This is a good movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if I'd take my very young child to see it, because of a couple of words. The story has been told before, but even hearing it again in this film does not seem tiring. I will definitely see it again.

Review: I highly reccommend Shrek. It is a great movie for the whole family! Shrek is a very funny yet touching movie. It is definitely one of the best this summer. If you're looking for a light-hearted movie, this is the one to see.

Summary: Facts and Fiction
Review: Okay, the whole movie is fiction.(Duh) But thats not what my reveiw refers to. It refers to the statements people made. Fiction: The sexual humor is completly innacceptible for kids. Fact: Will kids get it? No! Here's an example; Shrek gets shot with an arrow. When the princess tries to pull it out, she knocks him down and falls on top of him. At the same time Donkey (Who needs a better name) comes and mistakenly thinks they're "doing it" Does that sound like something kids will get? If you think so, lighten up! P.S. There IS one sex scene with only the king. I don't know if I should count that, because you need two [characters], don't you? (The only other character in that scene is the mirror, showing the image of the princess, but it's only an image. Fiction: There's a lot of cursing. Fact: I only noticed three times. (Not counting the time the puppets ALMOST cursed). Time 1: Donkey is trying to think of an alturnitive food to describe ogres. He doesn't like onions. There's this one food he mentions, I forget what it is. He describes it as "The best thing on the whole damn planet!" Time 2: When Donkey gets lost, Shrek tells the princess "I need to save my ass!" (He meant "donkey", but I still should count that.) Time 3: I don't remember the situation, but Donkey says "Kids love that crap." P.S. If you heard any more, you have big ears! Fiction: Kids won't like to see cute little birds blow up. Fact: HEH-LLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! First of all, you don't see any blood, second, my 7-year-old brother was making jokes about it. Oh, and while you're at it, consider cute little frogs and snakes getting turned into balloons. So, enjoy the movie (with your kids, of course) and remember my advise. If you don't feel comfturable taking your kids to see it, might as well lock them up in their room so they don't see anything inapropriate. Aka:Swearing, making rude jokes, etc.

Review: I"m 16 years old, and I didn't want to see Shrek considering that it looked like a kids movie. Upon seeing reviews me and my friends agreed to check it out. And was I wrong, this is not only a kids movie its for everyone. Its smart and funny. Its a perfect movie to see with your family. Take the time to see and enjoy it... Its really worth the money.

Summary: Shrek appeals to all ages
Review: This is a beautifully executed 3-D animated film. The visuals are outstanding. The characters are hilarious. The humor offers something for all ages... adult innuendoes and sophisticated satires are artfully done so as to avoid anything innapropriate for younger children, who will simply not grasp those particular jokes. Plenty of child-oriented humor keeps the kiddies giggling all the way through the film, too. We had to see it again, and caught even more sly and clever gags the second time around. If you like to laugh, don't miss this one!

Review: I think Shrek is totally awesome and incredibly entertaining.Initially,before I went to see the movie, I thought even though this story was rather unorthodox because an ugly ogre falls in love with a beautiful princess,I was like,"Wait a minute!Why did they make an ugly male creature fall in love with a beautiful princess?? why are they not making stories where a devastatingly handsome prince falls in love with an ugly female ogre for a change?? Yeah,looks don't matter they say but in the movies it's usually(well,to a certain degree)the ugly guys or the just ok-looking ones that get the stunning babes."Now that was my thought BEFORE I saw Shrek.AFTER I watched it,boy,was I pleasantly surprised.I won't tell you why though,you just have to watch it and find it out yourself.You won't regret it because this animation is simply ogre-riffic!!Really, u ask? yes...REALLY really.See it and you know what I mean :))

Summary: Finally, a Fairy Tale with a Feminist Message
Review: The movie industry has flooded us with sexist fairy tales for far too long. There are too many perfectly beautiful damsels in distress, awaiting their chilvarous knights to come rescue them. From Rapunzel to Ariel, from Cinderella to Sleeping Beauty, these characters have appeared on movie screens and personal TV sets. It's enough to make feminists (I am the Feminism Host at Bella Online) and those with like-minded values cry out "Enough already! Give our daughters real heroines, good messages, and more brains than beauty." And, voila! Finally the movie industry has answered us: with the cartoon called Shrek. Most movie-goers are drawn to the cartoon because of its famous cast of characters, including Mike Myers as the voice of Shrek, Caremon Diaz as the voice of the Princess, Eddie Murphy as the voice of the donkey, and John Lithgow as the voice of the Prince. Once movie-goers arrive at the theatre, or home viewers pop in the DVD or VHS, however, they will be surprised to find that Shrek also has many other refreshingly unique qualities. It is funny on many different levels, so that both children and adults keep laughing the whole way through. The animation is superb and the soundtrack consists of diverse, fun songs. The plot is fast-paced, and... best of all, the message is excellent. Shrek teaches children - and reminds adult viewers - that beauty comes from within, and that real friends value strong inside qualities instead of superficial outside ones. Perhaps the strongest feminist message in the movie comes at its most humanistic part. Shrek sees the princess in her natural state, and she's confused because the one who cast a spell on her told her it would be reversed when she found true love. "But... I was supposed to be beautiful," she says. Shrek's reply- "You are beautiful," captures the movie's entire message in three simple but powerful words. Shrek is a refreshing change to the familiar fairy tale movies. It will restore your faith in the children's movie industry, and allow you to feel confident that you can reinforce feminist values while taking your children - or just yourself - to see it.
