Summary: And It's Not Even Disney's
Review: Shrek has grossed over 260 million in the theaters (as of Aug. 14, 2001). That's within .05% of the top grossing animation of all times, Toy Story (@ 262 million). Shrek is a great 3D movie. The 3D computer animation is second, only to Final Fantasy. The story is more involving than what I expected. The voices were well cast and performed. The whole film awsome. I'm sure you're aware of that or you wouldn't be reading this now. It has both adult (clean adult) and kids humor. The writers plagerized just about everyone and it was hilarious. Okay, now for the DVD. This DVD is created as 2 parts. One disc is aimed for the kids and the format is "full Screen" (pan & scan) and includes 17 DVD-ROM games. The other disc is geared more for adults and is letterbox formatted. Both discs have 3 minutes of extended ending that was never scene in the theatrical release. There's 'Making Of' and 'Behind The Scenes'. It encludes 11 hours of extras. There are also running commentaries. This DVD will actually allow you to replace a charector's voice with you own with "Sherk's Revoice Studio" effects. There are 15 minutes of newly animated footage specifically for the DVD interactive menues.. . . . . Shall I go on? . . . There is a sticker on EVERY box saying it's a winner. Each box has eligebility to win a prize, from a Kia car to X-Box game consoles to Baskin Robins Ice cream. So, we have a fantastic movie, the most massive extras features ever on a DVD, and free give-aways. And yould be nuts not to take advantage of this offer.

Summary: Funny, yet with a heart
Review: "Shrek" is an absolutely funny movie, that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, though some of the jokes are about flatuence and somewhat, but inwardly rude. But, the movie is very, VERY funny, poking fun at Disney and the head bigwig Michael Eisner by making the villain into a pint-size, democratic ruler, Lord Farquarad (voiced by John Lithgow).

A big, but impossible not to like, green ogre, appopriately named "Shrek" (voiced by Mike Myers) finds out that that the whole bunch of the fairy tale creatures, including a wisecracking donkey, called "Donkey" (voice by Eddie Murphy), have moved into his private area. This results in very quotable quotes. ("Oh no. Dead broad OFF the table!")

Furious, Shrek goes to Lord Farquarad to get rid of the unwanted pests. Farquarad eagerly makes a bargain: rescue Princess Fiona from a dragon and he'll move them off Shrek's land. Shrek happily goes off to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), accompanied by Donkey, resulting in hilarious results.

This movie, while mostly a comedy, has a heart. After being rescued, Princess Fiona has a dark secret; when night falls, she turns into an ogre. When the sun comes up, she changes back into her normal self.

This movie teaches a moral: Never judge a person by their appearance. While kids may not care for the lesson implied for it, they'll enjoy the upbeat ending and it's hilarious "cast."

"Shrek" is enjoyable, though some of the material may not be appropriate for little kids. It's an enjoyable, funny movie, while teaching a valuable lesson and it has a heart. Roger Ebert gave it **** stars. I eagerly agree.

Rated PG for language, sexual innueudo, and for some crude humor.

Summary: SHREK in Spanish
Review: I saw SHREK in spanish and laughed my head off - so funny, great jokes. In spanish the movie's jokes used a lot of plays on words and double meanings which couldnt be the same in English. I am now dying to see the movie in my native English as the jokes must be different in English. I reckon if the DVD allows change of language and you happen to be bilingual then you will be getting two movies for the price of one! I will be getting it on DVD or video as soon as it comes out.

Review: Shrek is a guy that looks bad and angry but at the end he had a sweet heart. He helps the fairy tales characters because he wants that they stay out of his place but at the end he find his happiness. My family saw that movie and its very funny and interesting. My little girl loves Shrek.

Summary: one of the best of 2001... so far
Review: This movie was a hoot and is probably the second best movie I have seen this year (the best was undoughtedly A.I. Artificial Intelligence). It would be interesting to see if it gets a nomination for best picture, but the best movies almost always come out Sept.-Feb. just before the oscars. Being a digital movie I imagine the transfer will be clear and basically perfect. It should look very good. If you don't know what I mean check out one of the Toy Story movies on DVD.

Summary: Can't remember when I've laughed so hard
Review: I can't wait to get my own copy of this movie.

The first thing I'm going to do is to go back and try to watch the parts that I missed because I was laughing too hard the first time. I couldn't even breathe for much of this movie.

The second thing will be to go through again and get a better look at the many subtle - almost throw-away - jokes in both the dialog and the animation.

I will say that this movie is not appropriate for all kids. It gets a little gross, containing some bathroom humor and some gore (at least, talk of gore). Parents of sensitive kids may want to preview it.
