Summary: Good but not Great
Review: The animation is wonderful. That is it.

This story lacks the dynamic tension of the Ten Commandments. It hovers between being childfare and adultfare, and appeals to neither. To say the interpretation of literature is, well, given artistic discretion (as stated at the opening), is excrutiatingly correct...it ignores most of the history completely.

The songs and music are quasi-Menken and quasi-Loyd Webber. And not up to either. The 'miracle' theme and other music seem out of context and trite...In spoken dialog, the euro-centric voices of patrick stewart et al. do not fit at all to the character's context.

At least Ten Commandments had a real tension between Moses and Rameses II...and the queen and evil governor. That is completely missing here.

This is not a bad film, but does not at all live up to the glowing reviews I have seen here and elsewhere.

Knowledgeable adults will be flabergasted at the liberties taken with the story and lack of real climactic tension. Children will be bored with the lack of cute action.

Worth renting only.

Summary: A technical and emotional masterpiece
Review: As an aspiring animator, I have to say that "The Prince of Egypt" is one of the most inspiring pieces I've ever seen. The animation is executed beautifully, and the simple character design is contrasted masterfully with dazzling special effects and colors. The music is truly moving, and appropriate in all cases. Based on one of the greatest stories of all time, "The Prince of Egypt" is an emotional masterpiece, executed as well as it possibly could be.

Summary: Exceptional combination of traditional animation and CGI
Review: In addition to being the most accurate Bible story movie I have ever seen, the combination of 2D and 3D Computer Generated Imagery is so well combined with traditional animation that you can hardly tell when one or the other is used. The emotional aspect of the Moses character is brilliantly presented as no other movie has done before. This movie is great for kids and also for adults.

Summary: A terrific, touching story based around the Bible.
Review: I loved the video. It's great 4 all ages. Last year, my class went to see it as a field trip. Some kids cried at some points. I think that they should make "The Prince Of Egypt 2." That's when all the hardships begin in the Bible. The 10 commandments would be great to put in there. Isn't it sad at the end. I won't tell ya. Gotta see the video. It was terrrrrrific. See Ya Love ya Vern

Summary: Very Good and Tastefully Done
Review: I have seen the movie and while I agree with most people it does stray a bit from the story itself but in my opinion it is a great movie. It shows Moses in a different light from what we were taught,it showed him as a youth, the son of Pharoh and how he and his brother were acting like normal human beings which I thought was wonderful. It also shows how Moses must come to terms with who he truly is. I highly recommend this movie.Harold Conner

Summary: Cecil B. DeMille Has Nothing to Worry About
Review: Maybe I am one of the few who found "The Prince of Egypt" to be insufferable long. True enough, it is only 90 minutes but it seems longer than DeMille's four-hour classic "The Ten Commandments." The pacing is tremendously slow with only spurts of "life" in the film. The animation is awesome, though, with a magnificent scene where fire rains down upon Egyptian buildings and monuments. Voicing is adequate with Val Kilmer making a decent Moses. The songs and the musical score are not memorable. Even the radio-friendly duet from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey is rather bland. Perhaps, I have become accustomed to the Disney blend of pathos, humor, sympathetic heroes and sinister villians, and outstanding musical cues/songs, that I missed these in this film. Spielberg and company didn't really get the job done this time. Maybe, if they'd thrown in a dancing "tablet"...

Summary: Great for people of all kinds.
Review: This movie was indeed about the tale of Moses which was taken from the bible. It was a great movie but you dont have to be christian to enjoy it. Infact, my friend who is a atheist recommended the movie to me. This movie is great for all and I highly advise it.

Summary: This Movie is a "must have" for everyone!!!
Review: I just bought The Prince of Egypt movie the day it came out on video and have watched it for at least 7 times ever since. I think this is a great family video, and is pretty accurate to the story in the Bible. I'm now convincing all of my friends to watch(and buy)this movie, because it's so awesome. There are hardly any good movies out anymore. I'm glad there is at least one. I would highly reccommend to anyone, that they should see this video. The talent, and vocalists(singers), did an awesome job, especially Moses, Miriam, and Tzipporah. The effects the film has in it make it even more breathtaking. The Plagues, The encounter with God, the parting of the Red Sea...the artists did a great job. Christian or not, this is a video everyone should see, because it's so extraordinary!!!

Summary: Excellent Movie
Review: Unfortuantely i did not see it when it came out in the theatres. I had been told it was a great movie. I brought the video today & watched it. What a beautiful movie. I watched it with my 8 year old daughter & she enjoyed it as well. In fact, i plan to look for the soundtrack tomorrow or Monday. I would definitely recommend buying the dvd or videotape. I am Baptist but i believe no matter what you faith or beliefs are, its a movie for all to enjoy.

Summary: A great movie, great DVD, and a denifite Buy.
Review: Reading through many of the reviews on this movie, I think that people go away from the fact that this is just a movie. Dreamworks did not make this movie to inform the world of Christianity or Judism. I find it funny that people can get offended over a cartoon. Anyways, about the movie. I personally think that this is the best DVD that I currently own. The picture quality, sound, and special features are in a league of their own. Not to mention that the movie itself is just plain awesome. Dreamworks has managed to integrate 2d and 3d animation with conventional animation almost flawlessly. This made a great movie become awe inspiring. Personally, I think the neatest thing is that the Dreamworks staff tried to preserve the integrity of the story. The DVD has a making of segment that really explains the trouble and research that the staff had done to keep this story accurate. Finally, the music is just plain fantastic. Hans Zimmers score and Stephen Schwartz's original songs make this movie a definite emotional ride. The music could tell the story, without having the film attached. Please, please see this movie and judge it fairly. Don't look at this movie as an educational film on the bible. Look at it as an hour and 40 minute piece of art
