Summary: An Animation Sensation!
Review: DreamWorks SKG's first animated feature, is an instant Masterpiece! Fantastic animation, amazingly incredible computerized "Parting of the Red Sea" sequence. Astounding, my absolute favourite animated feature. From the moment Moses is placed in the basket and discovered by the Queen, to when he becomes a man and learns of his destiny, to when he believe in the Lord, and takes his staff, hits the sea and it splits in two, Every moment is moving and touching. Hans Zimmer has out done himself, with another 5 Star score. The DVD version is spectacular, crisp, clear and very very sharp. You can even see each scale of the fish in the beginning of the film, not to forget when the sea drops and returns to level, you can literally see each spray of water and water droplets in the mist!! .Two Thumbs way up!

Summary: This was a truly wonderful movie!
Review: I saw this movie with my 9 year old son and we both loved it. We are Jewish and it was really nice to see such a good interpretation of the story of Moses and Passover come to life on the movie screen. This is a wonderful story that everyone, of any faith, should know. It was brought to life very beautifully and tastefully. I will definitely by this video to add to our collection.

Summary: Worth a look but dont get too excited about it.
Review: Great looking movie, Music is good to very good. The ending is just so WEAK. You get all excited for a large finale after the Red Sea sequence and it just sort of cuts you off and ends. Lots of great scenes worth checking out though. Should be a hoot on DVD.

Summary: Good filmmaking, lousy interpretation.
Review: The Prince of Egypt is a good film. That is, it had excellent animation, characters of depth, a moving score, and manages to be very entertaining. As a Biblical or historic interpretation it is a miserable failure. I cannot believe those people who say that this is true to the story. First, the Pharaoh is wrong. This is pretty contraversial in the history circle, but the Pharaoh of the Exodus was NOT Ramses. Second, Moses probably did not know the Pharaoh of the Exodus so personally. But that wouldn't make a film. And that minor error is forgivable. The portrayal of Moses is not. As soon as the man is called of God, he becomes rather wimpy. He is filled with indiscision and regret because of his close relationship with Ramses. The character of Moses was not nearly strong enough in spirit. Not to mention that Moses was 80 years old at the time of the Exodus.Second, the error of the queen fishing Moses out of the Nile is by no means minor. The whole scene was inaccurate. The historical Moses had no need to "discover" his roots. His sister Mariam greeted the Pharaoh's daughter personally and offered to find a nurse. When Pharaoh's daughter agreed, Mariam fetched her mother. Therefore, Moses was NOT raised in Pharoah's house; he was raised in his OWN Jewish home, under the covenant teachings of his OWN parents! He already knew who he was. And every day he saw his people in slavery, it burned him inside. All things considered, DO see this film. Don't take it as scripture. It's not even close. But the blaring historical errors, though unignorable, are worth hearing the phrase sung, "Thus Saith the Lord!" and the Hebrew children singing "Ashira la'adonai ki ga-oh ga-ah . . ."I will buy this film.

Review: The Prince of Egypt is not only beautiful to look at and is an AWESOME story, but, it is biblicaly based. I especially enjoyed the parting of the Red Sea scene. The voices are perfect and the the songs are WONDERFUL. I thouroughly enjoyed it (and I'm an adult with no children).I highly recommend this movie.

Summary: This movie meant a lot to me spiritually.
Review: Although the story was modified a little from the scriptual text, this film moved me spiritually in a way that few other productions have. It has brought me closer to God on an intimate level; it showed me a new perspective on knowing God, obeying God, and experiencing his presence. I highly recommend it to ANYONE.

Summary: I love this movie. Go buy it!!!
Review: DreamWorks did a really good job of presenting this movie from the Bible. When I saw the movie, I was near tears, and as I listen to my soundtrack everyday, I still cry, especially in "Deliver Us" and "When You Believe". This movie is really awesome, and I'm buying this movie the day in comes out on video. Only 9 more days until it comes out on video

Summary: A Breath of Fresh Air!
Review: I took my children ages 9-15 to this movie. All of us had been waiting to see the Prince Of Egypt since we first saw the previews...it was worth the long wait! The movie stayed close the the truth. I was so happy that it was not "hollywoodized"...it told the story of Moses with sensitivity and beauty and respect. We all cried during different parts of the movie. I was a bit disappointed that the story stopped at the parting of the sea...But, the animation was gorgous and the music lovely. The Prince of Egypt was a breath of fresh air! Finially, a movie that a Christian can take the family to without feeling compromised. There needs to be alot more of this calibur movies out there! Judging from the audience response when we went... there is a HUGE market for it!

Summary: One of the finest animated films ever made!
Review: I saw "Prince of Egypt" in the theater and plan to buy it on video, though I will wait for a letterbox version. I was awed by the power and emotional depth of the story, and its technical execution. It's so nice to see an animated film that's truly appropriate for the whole family, without resorting to cutesiness and broad humor as Disney so often does. The film pulls no punches in its treatment of slavery and death, yet is never explicit. The songs and score are quite good and often magnificent. I am not Christian or Jewish (I'm an agnostic animist!) yet the power of Moses' faith can inspire all of us who are unsure of our place in the world, or who have to do something which may not be pleasant or easy. (If only we all had something as obvious as a burning bush to show us the way!)
