Rating: Summary: Just a really good movie! Review: This is a great movie for kids...and adults. We have most of the Disney movies but this is one that my youngest (age 3) will watch over and over. Cruella de Ville is just the villian of all villians. For people who complain about all of the violence in movies today (even kids' movies), this has a very minimal amount of violence. It also has a happy ending which is nice for young children to see in a movie. It's just a really good movie. Why else would they do a re-make with real people?
Rating: Summary: Leonard...You're Way Off Review: The Review above discusses the inferior remake. There's no substitute for the original Cruella de Ville! Slacker henchmen, funny supporting animals & a moving & emotional story help rank this among Disney's best! Even though it loses a bit in translation, it remains a classic.
Rating: Summary: Good, but I prefer "The Lion King" and "Aladdin"... Review: At the moment, Disney is reissuing their old films on 2 Disc DVD. I've already upgraded "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" and when they are released, I'll probably get "Lady and the Tramp" and "The Little Mermaid", but I'm probably not going to bother upgrading "101 Dalmatians". It's okay, but I don't think I want it on DVD as much as I do as the other Disney movies. The best things in the film include the outrageously bitchy Cruella De Vil (who has some of the most interesting mannerisms of a Disney villain) and the two songs "Cruella De Vil" and "Dalmatian Plantatian". Yet it is a bit slow in places and some of the animation is sketchy and messy. I'll recommend it, but I personally don't see myself going out to buy the 2 Disc Special Edition coming in the near future.
Rating: Summary: Disney's MASTERPIECE 101 Dalmations Review: Disney's 17th animated film 101 Dalmations is a hilarious comedy about a dog who wants a mate & wants his owner,Roger to have a wife & destiny strikes Pongo(the dog),sees another attractive dalmation with a very attrctrive owner & its fate they meet in the park & end up being wed.I can't tell anymore what happens after that would give the movie away.Buy this movie! Its a film the whole family will enjoy!
Rating: Summary: *~cruella de~vil~*cruel~la de~vil~~* Review: The technical innovation of "Xerography" is on prominent display in this film, the first animated feature to use the process. As a result, this film looks very different from previous Disney efforts; character designs are looser and more caricatured, with solid, detailed draftsmanship. The backgrounds, consisting of black lines and flat areas of color, are carefully crafted pop-art masterpieces that possess an almost abstract beauty. From the scrawny, angular form of villainess Cruella de Vil, to the hundreds of individually designed, black-and-white spotted puppies, the visual design of this film is extremely sophisticated -- unmatched, I think, by any mainstream animated feature before or since. For _101 Dalmatians_ Disney opted to throw out the strict photorealism of earlier films, and in doing so pushed the artistic barrier of animation. Had Disney decided to pursue this approach further, this film could have had as great an impact on animation as UPA's shorts of the '50s. Still, even as a one-shot deal, this witty, graphically savvy effort is a major achievement. The DVD is short on extras, but what's there, as they say, is "cherce." The video transfer is full-frame and flawless; audio is solid throughout. The English subtitle feature (ostensibly for the hard-of-hearing) reveals the unexpected complexity of the film's dialogue, which is peppered with local slang and obscure but amusing in-jokes.
