Summary: A classic for all time.
Review: This is just simply the most beautifully heartwarming film to come by in a long time and I doubt you will ever forget it. I'm buying two copies, one to watch and one to put away for the day I have children - I want them to see it that much.

Summary: Amusing, entertaing and humanizing
Review: As an adult I found this very amusing and a delight. Children will love it and I am in fact purchasing it for the grandchildren.

Summary: EASILY the Best Film of 1999...
Review: ... and one of the most engaging films of the decade. I cannot begin to express how absolutely wonderful and funny and moving this film is. The story is simple enough, but it's the characterizations that bring this film to life. Both the fine acting and the outstanding film making skills on every level put many recent films to shame. Break out the hankies...By the way, "Iron Giant" happens to be an animated feature. Do not hesitate to buy this film right away. Brad Bird and his crew are GENIUSES! Thank you for creating such a great movie experience.

Summary: For once, believe the hype...
Review: People often grumble about the lack of magic and heart in films these days, which makes the box office failure of this film all the more perplexing. Iron Giant conveys a real sense of wonder that rivals early Disney films as well as the late 70's/early 80's work of Spielberg and Lucas. Even more refreshing is the fact that, for once, someone decided to break from the assembly-line Disney formula rather than copy it -- no songs, no goofy sidekicks, and a distinct drawing style. Many people compare this film to E.T., but I think a more apt comparison might actually be to the Boris Karloff Frankenstein films -- while E.T. is always gentle and harmless, as the film goes on the Iron Giant is shown to have an unintended capacity for destruction that he must learn to control (providing a great lesson). It's almost like an alternate, more hopeful version of Frankenstein, where the Creature befriends that little girl by the pond rather than unintentionally killing her.

Review: This is an excellent film that the entire family will enjoy. To bad Warner Brothers didn't do a better job in marketting it.

Summary: Timeless, non-formulaic story for children AND adults...
Review: The Warner Bros. marketing machine missed the mark on promoting this 1999 animated classic. Brad Bird and the rest of the production crew deserve more than a standing ovation for the work they did. "The Iron Giant" is a beautiful, eloquent story. From scenes that send heart-bursting adrenaline through you, to insightful, deep moments between the all-too-human characters and the robotic lead, "The Iron Giant" is one DVD which will *always* remain in my collection. I hope Brad Bird & Co. are able to bring more magical animations to the big screen in the years ahead. I cannot praise this film enough.

Summary: This is the best movie of 1999
Review: Most adults and teenagers think that if a movie is animated, then it's designed to appeal only to children. And that's a shame. Because what we have hear is, to be honest, the best movie of 1999.

In order to explain what this movie has, I would first like to explain what it does *not* have. It doesn't have any scenes where the characters stop doing whatever it is that they are doing, and start singing and dancing. It doesn't have any stupid sidekicks to distract you from the rest of the film. It doesn't have a politically correct attitude. And it doesn't have a fear of using some mildly intense violence, or a fear of using a few swear words.

What it *does* have is a wonderul sense of imagination, friendship, honestry, and loyalty. It has a very strong understanding of what is right and what is wrong. Although there is some violence in the movie, it is shown in the proper context. If anything, the theme of this movie is one of *anti-violence.*

Unfortunately, this movie bombed at the box office. Almost nobody saw it. But I did. I saw it. And I'm very, very glad that I did.

Summary: One of the best films of 1999.
Review: Though it lacks some of the visual splendor of recent Disney films, "The Iron Giant" more than compensates with wit, excitement, and enough genuine emotion to fill three live-action films. A thoughtful and moving fable of Cold War-era paranoia, "Giant" boasts excellent acting and some of the most believably human animation I've ever seen, both for the Giant and his co-stars. It has all the thrills, fear and wonder of the best Spielberg films; if you dismiss it as "just another cartoon," you truly don't know what you're missing. It will mightily entertain viewers of all ages.

Summary: One of the best animated films ever
Review: I can't believe how poorly this wonderful film did at the box office. I just hope it finds its audience on video.
