Summary: It's Elmo....what can I say
Review: Another great series of Elmo's World "stuff". While my daughter loves this DVD as much as the other Elmo's Worlds, my only comment on this particular DVD is that it doesn't have the same learning potential as the others. She loves babies and dogs (as most kids do)so that is why it is entertaining for her, but she really isn't getting the lessons out of this one that she does out of the others (like brushing your teeth and puting your shoes on and reading books). Overall it is still a very good program, but I would say it is more entertaining than educational.

Summary: good for toddlers, too!
Review: At about 10 mos. my younger daughter started taking interest in this video. The muppets are interspersed with live-action clips of kids w. babies (as well s farm animals & dogs) which really grabs her attention. Elmo himself is very bright and animated, which attracts the attention of kids younger than the recommended ages (3-6). I would note that my almost-5-y.o. was bored by this after one or two viewings, but is more than happy to explain to her younger sibling what is going on in the video.

I noticed that the other Sesame Street videos we have do not interest my toddler like this Elmo's World video does. It seems less tedious and faster paced with more emphasis on visuals than the other Sesame Street videos do. I would recmmend this one as a nice 'first' introduction to Sesame Street beginning in the toddler years. It dosen't bother with counting and the alphabet like more 'grown up' Sesame Street, but rather focuses on this that are really facinating for really little ones like babies (like themselves!) and animals.

Highly recommend - and sooner rather than later.

Summary: terrific compilation of 3 classic "Elmo's World" segments
Review: Babies, dogs, and farms -- the subjects of these three Elmo segments are completely engrossing for my 16-month-old. Yes, Elmo's voice is a little grating, but it's not about us adults now is it?

Each of the three segments was originally a segment on Sesame Street, so they follow the formula: "what is Elmo thinking about today?" followed by actual and Muppet versions of babies, dogs, and farm creatures, followed by questions from Dorothy, followed by a Mr. Noodle sequence, followed by a cartoon sequence, etc. This is a high-quality transfer and a staple of toddler-taming in our house.

One small thing -- and this is, I realize, a nit that few people would pick -- I am tired of Sesame Street products always showing babies with bottles and saying, "this is how babies eat" etc. Yes, it's how SOME babies eat, but not all. I don't exactly expect Elmo to show Muppets breastfeeding their infant Muppets, but enough with the bottles. If nursing is too controversial to depict or discuss, then avoid the bottles as well.

Summary: so sweet
Review: Elmo is so adorable when he talks with the Babies in this. The babies are so cute as well. Very entertaining for Mom and baby!

Summary: Your kid will like it, but it might drive you crazy
Review: Elmo is the most annoying monster I have ever met. He never stops talking and laughing in that high-pitched, irritating voice. However, my two-year-old loves him, and she actually learns from the video. The incessant talking is a real incentive for her to speak more herself.

The best thing about the video is that each of the three sections is stand-alone. I don't like to sit my kid down in front of the TV for too long, so the separate sections allow me to limit viewing time while cutting off the video at a logical place. Don't expect to love the video yourself, but who cares what we love? The five star rating is on behalf of the true audience.

Summary: MY SON LOVES THIS VIDEO!
Review: Ever since he was 7 months old he has loved to watch Elmo and especially this video. He has "the Best of Elmo" but he likes this one better. Great for children who love animals!

Summary: Toddler love
Review: From the moment we put this video in the VCR, my then-baby, now-toddler, loved this video. She runs up to the television to hug Elmo, and plays peek-a-boo with him in front of the set. When my husband or I are alone with her, we can pop the video in the VCR, put her in her crib, and take a quiet shower while she watches Elmo for 15 minutes.

This is by far the best video we have for her, and highly recommend it to any parent who needs 5 or 10 minutes of "breathe time" to occupy an otherwise inconsolable toddler.

Summary: Perfect for a two-year-old
Review: He loves babies, dogs, and animals, so this is a perfect tape for your child to enjoy.

Summary: Strange! It is all about bottlefeeding, etc.
Review: hmmm. One would think that the makers of Sesame Street would know that breast is best, but, unfortunately, the video shows a bottle in almost every scene that it shows a baby! Not once does it show a baby nursing! Not even an animal baby! Even the animals are fed with bottles in the video! It makes bottlefeeding appear to be the norm (certainly NOT what I want to teach my child)! It also refers repeatedly to "babysitters." I would never leave a baby with a "babysitter" and I certainly wouldn't want to teach my child that babysitters are the norm either. Babies should be with their mothers wherever their mothers go! This video is not for anyone who is a breastfeeding, attached parent.
