Summary: The Best Animation I've Ever Seem For A Cartoon/Live Movie!!
Review: I Just Want To Say 1st that J.R.R. Tolkien is a GREAT Author. 2nd That When I saw The Hobbit and The Return Of The King, I was a little let down because I expected more from the movie Animation and Sortyline wise, But when I saw The Lord Of The Rings, Man what a Difference From The Hobbit And The Return Of The King! I Have a copy of the movie and know where you can get copys of it. (for a small price of course) But anyway another Great Movie I Liked Was Labyrinth By Jim Henson which was also taken off the market and so was The Late 1992 smash hit special effects Super Mario Bros. starring Dennis Hopper, Bob Hskin

s. And an awesom song By Roxette caled, "Almost Unreal" Anyway I think that the Lord of the Rings should be re-released and put back into theaters for public veiwing and see what it can do now!!

Summary: Seriously flawed telling of Tolkien's trilogy!
Review: There's a lot to like in Ralph Bakshi's version of the Lord of the Rings story, but this was a far from perfect film! Bakshi has a bad habit of rushing through some important parts of the book, then slowing down BIG TIME for other scenes (e.g. the flight across the ford, and the battle of Helm's Deep). The result is that there are times when this movie gets REALLY BORING! The same can be said of the animation --- when it's good, it's great! But then he goes through these "short-cuts" with live action posterized video and, well, the whole film suffers as a result. Still, Tolkien fans will want to see it. I know I did!

Summary: Amazing animation, the movie's coming soon!
Review: The animation in this movie is quite a ways ahead of its time, and the mixing of three or more different animations styles is very interesting. Tolkien is not only the greatest fantasy writer to ever have existed, but he is one of the best writers of any genre to ever has existed as well. I'm pleased to inform you Tolkien fans that a three movies shall be coming out within the next 6-8 years: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and the Return of the King, all live action, with modern advanced special effects, and they are rumored to be a work of genius that is in progress. I look forward to it with great anticipation and I am sure that you all do too!

Summary: Mystic
Review: This picture is full of mystic, as it is the original book story. I have seen this picture some 20 years ago, and it still is part of the fantasy lived by several people around this world. I propouse an underwriting to send to the producer, and convince him to finish his work. And why not loading his e-mail box? Talkien deserves it (and so do we).

Summary: I cried
Review: Saw the movie as a child and later read the book. AM waiting for the movie to come. DO hope they do not mess up a good thing....It is the First of its kind and all other fantasy novels, movies fall short in comparison. No the animation is not all that high tech but it is believable and keeps you in you chair. DO wish the movie would have been fully done and who knows maybe someday...........

Summary: unprecedented animation masterpiece
Review: my uncle showed this film to me back in the early 80's when i was just a kid, before i had read the books. rediscovering this later on after reading the books was incredible. how many others wept for days after discovering it ends at the battle of helm's deep? bashki's use of realistic imagery mixed with watercolor and animation is outstanding. the best possible fit for translating these books. the thought of the upcoming version using real actors scares me. i don't think they can do justice to the story. this is the real deal! and where the fu*k can i find a copy? anybody? help? you can rent it just about anywhere, but where can you buy it? they should re-release a special edition with extra bits, and bashki should finish the movie!! somebody give him the money, damnit.

Summary: "The Lord of the Rings": A timeless masterpiece
Review: I first experienced this film as a child, about 20 years ago. Since, I have rented it countless times, but have never found a copy I could purchase. It is the ultimate story of good against evil. It has many contemporary undertones. The more your watch it, the more you respect Tolkien's metaphores, and Bakshi's attention to detail. Sadly, we probably will never be able to pass this treasure onto our children. If you CAN get your hands on a copy, keep it!

Summary: The worst example of animation in HISTORY!!!!!
Review: Though the music is much better than the Hobbit's, this movie is appalling! The Animation is too dark and sketchy, as if painted by a child. You can see the animation budget shrinking as the movie progresses. I give it one star because it follows the book so closely, but it ends with at least 300 page of the book missing and Bakshi never completed the second half. I own this film, I think it's a waste of time and even if he did finish the sequel, I would not want to tarnish my memories of the book with it.

Summary: The best adaption of a book made movie ever!!!
Review: The animated adaption of the genius work written by Tolkein is by far and large the single greatest book turned movie ever. I was fortunate enough to see the film in the theater when I was a boy, and now am even more fortunate to own a copy of the film on tape. This is the epic story of good vs evil that even makes movies like STAR WARS pale by comparison. To own this movie is to own a true piece of Literary and video history.
