Summary: Can't Touch the Original G.I.Joe Cartoons
Review: As a big G.I.Joe fan, I couldn't wait to see this new cartoon. However, the computer animation is not that good (Destro's face look like more moulded jello then a steel mask) and the storyline is out of this world (very unrealistic). In fact, it appears that Hasbro has taken GI Joe back into the unrealistic world that killed the original GI Joe back in the mid-80's: meaning introducing crazy storylines mixed with out of this world characters.

If you are a huge fan of the old 80's Sunbow series and are a big believer (like me) that the GI Joe movie killed the original 80's series, then you will find this new computer animated movie to be a waste of money (like I did).

If you are new to GI Joe, I would recommend you pass on this movie and get the two original mini-series available on DVD as those two original mini-series are true to what made GI Joe so popular back in the 80's.

Summary: 1 star for the animation, but that's it
Review: I am a Joe fan from way back, I loved the old toyline, the old cartoon, the old comic book, and I equally love the new toyline and new Joe comics. I wish I could say the same for this film. The animation is very good, the plot itself is interesting, but the dialogue, characters and voice performances are so annoying I could barely get through it. It sounded like a bunch of frat boys shouting at one another. The villains are all portrayed as a pack of screaming buffoons, and there is not the slightest tension whatsoever. I think kids are a lot smarter than the producers of this give them credit for, the writing should have been aimed at a higher IQ level. I can't even imagine a kid enjoying 78 minutes of yelling and stuff blowing up. Not fun at all

Summary: Animation....Not Quite Up to Par
Review: I'm a fan of animated films, and actually enjoyed the original G.I. Joe series when I was a kid. But G.I. Joe Valor Vs. Venom was just not that great. First, there are far too many characters. (I know Hasbro is anxious to pull in those toy dollars...But really, there must be about forty characters mentioned in the film). Second...The female characters have precious few on-screen minutes, and are very cliché: example: the female martial artist character falls off a building relying on the male character to save her etc.

Regarding the animation. I've seen better. But the HAIR really bugged me. Duke's hair in particular never moved, and the characters with long hair- their hair moved sluggishly like octopus tentacles; creating a weird underwater sea anemone-effect. Second. "Real" textures on the characters particularly the lips...Looked freaky. I wanted to offer the lead black characters a stick of blistex. His lips looked huge and chapped. Clothing also looked really really bad. Hawk's uniform, hat, and shirt were puffy and looked really strange. The martial artist woman's costume looked really large and didn't bend or flow.

Overall, young kids will like this one. But girls might be bored with the constant fighting, and I was disappointed with the lack of character development on all characters overall, but in particular with the female characters who just seemed to stand around and do nothing.

Review: Thank you for reading this review;

As for the Movie it rocks. Is it not an epic toon flick such as the likes of let say Transformers the MOvie, but tell you what it is even better than SPY Troops and 1,000 times better than the 1986 G.I. Joe Movie. A lot of people have pointed out the obvious errors in this movie such as that some of the voices were not very good, the villains seemed too stupid, and on and on. To me the bottom line was my boy STORM SHADOW kicked some butt on this one. The animation on this movie was very Beast Wars-esque. The story line was simplistic yet somewhat intriguing. The best part were in my opinion the action Ninja fighting scenes by all ninja members from fan favorite Snake Eyes, his apprentice(from the current comics) Kamakura, Jinx(stormy's cousin..), and of course my boy STORM SHADOW. Found myself rewind over and over the action ninja fight scenes that were done really well. Hope the same ninja action scenes will be available in the Live-action G.I. Joe movie.

One thing liked about this movie over the previous CGI G.I. JOE Spy Troops movie was that it was longer. This movie was not rushed the way the previous movie was. The action animation was really well done and realistic. Better job could of been done on some of the voice actors(although the voice actor of Cobra Commander was really good not Chris Latta(r.i.p)good, but good enough for most fans), need to make the villains more like the bad boys that they are instead of a bunch of baffons the way the producers displayed them, and need to bring FIRE FLY, Zarana, Major Bludd and Lady Jay and other old school characters back in the next CGI movie. ALso need to improve on Destro's look for on both movies he looks awful compared to the way he was drawn in the 80's.

If you are a G.I. Joe fan you must own this and if you don't like so what sell it right back on Amazon.

Summary: 20 times better than spy troops
Review: the action is good and the CGI graphics come off very well. I'll never think this tops the better eppisodes of the orignal animated series or the 5 part eppisodes from the Heyday of GIJOE but this is a pretty good ride. If you are a Joe fan this is pretty good. story is as plausible as most joe stories and told better than GIJoe the movie

Summary: Awesome new chapter in the rich Gi Joe history
Review: This movie will be enjoyed by kids, most Gi Joe fans as a whole and even anyone who is just fond of great animation. The CGI is the best I have ever seen in any US made movie. There will be some who will not like this and those people are the "fans" who are too narrow-minded to accept Gi Joe in new times and that it's not 1985 any more. Anyone who says "this can't compare to the Sunbow series" just simply doesn't get the idea that it's not supposed to compare. It's an entirely differnt time.

The storyline on the surface can seem a little silly, but the writers have done an excellent job of putting the Valor Vs. Venom story to the screen. Mucho kudo to all the writers and animators. I personally liked Spy Troops as well, but this movie leaves it in the dust. Advice to anyone, buy the movie. If you're hesitant, check out your local video store and rent it. You are in for a treat and an awesome film.

Summary: Not for those who liked the original cartoon
Review: This was a huge disappointment. I understand there is a new generation of cartoon watchers and this is probably for that market. This cartoon really tries to introduce this new generation to this updated line of toys, vehicles, etc, but in the process they completely alienated those fans who grew up on the cartoon in the 80's. If you are looking for nostalgic GI Joe action, this is not it. If you want to show your children something that you watched when you were growing up, then this might be the ticket.

Summary: Like Spy Troops, a terrible movie to put G.I. Joe label on
Review: This was a terrible movie. I'm wondering if all the people who reviewed it and gave it high marks actually saw this piece of garbage. The animation is the worst CG I've ever seen. The lips on the characters never match the words they're saying, and they basically look like a bunch of rusted robots in their movements. Destro looks completely ridiculous and not at all threatening like he did in the cartoon. And I could do a better impersonation of the Chris Latta Cobra Commander than the guy they got. If you're a fan of the '80s cartoon, like me, then you'll be wishing for the good old days when you watch this. Even G.I. Joe the movie was better than this, and it had much better animation. I miss the days when artists would care enough to actually put skill and TLC into cartoon animation rather than rely on some crappy computer program to do it. Check out the Transformers episode "Call of the Primitives" to see what I mean. Why can't there be more cartoons like that nowadays??

Summary: Transformers the movie: not quite its equal, but...
Review: this was a well-made and entertaining film. The DVD caught my attention in a Best Buy ad and had decided to pick up a copy (being an 80's G.I. Joe & Transformers fan and all). I was expecting a low-budget cartoon, but instead was pleasantly surprised by the impressive animation, intelligent & funny dialogue, and nice subplot.

I had watched all of the GI Joe episodes as a child, including GIJoe the movie (which was horribly directed, since they portrayed one of my favorite characters, Snake-Eyes, as a weakling who couldn't slice his way through a few cobra-la soldiers, or some overgrown vines). Well, not only does THIS movie have several joes from the original series, but Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow play a major role as well. Awesome!

Like the series, no one dies in this movie (although at some points in the movie I thought some major characters would die), which is terrific since this movie, with its humorous dialogue & toned battle sequences would appeal to adults and children alike - a great family film. However, for hardcore fans, it doesn't quite match the gut-wrenching emotions from Transformers the movie, particularly those evoked from the death scenes of the intro hijacking scene and of course, of Optimus Prime. Well, now i'm digressing, so back to the topic at hand!

This movie rocks, go buy it - Cool story & the animation is similar to Beast Wars & Final Fantasy. Check out some characters and vehicles in the modern-era cgi (if it is cgi, it certainly looks it): Flint, wetsuit, Tunnel Rat, Destro & Baroness, Cobra Commander, Mindbender, and lotsa others. oh yeah, did i mention they have ninjas??? NICE!
