Summary: What's not to love!? It's Rudolph!
Review: I need not type much about this title because everyone has seen it and has an opinion. All I can say is that the transfer to DVD was very well done. A little more "behind the scenes" would have been nice, but I'm just happy to see this on DVD.

Summary: all-time best rudolph movie
Review: this claymation christmas movies, is an all-time best. nothing can beat it, it will never grow old, or unpopular.
I watch it every year along with "the christmas story", "the grinch" the cartoon one is soo much better,"and frosty."
Nothin can beat the misfit toys, the abominable snowman, or the elf who wants to be a dentist.

Summary: Great Classic
Review: This DVD does the original justice, which all I was hoping for. The remastering is well done and the picture and sound are crisp. Which is good because I think that everyone's favorite part is the music. It was kind of refreshing to see something not PC at all. I haven't seen it in a couple of years and I was amazed at what would now would be considered harsh taunts but were the norm when I was growing up. It was refreshing, because of course in the end it was all well. Alls well that ends well.

The extras were rather nice. The Rudolf quiz was cute and I am sure kids would love it. Some of the other stuff was interesting, like the deleted song, although there wasn't a lot.

A definte buy, timeless classic.

Summary: there's just something about this film...
Review: I had to buy this for some friends because they missed it on TV and said it wouldn't be Christmas if they didn't see it. The DVD is very well remastered and has a very sharp picture. And, of course, the classic story is charming despite (or probably because of) its quirkiness.

Summary: This is Your Momma's Homemade Animation...
Review: This is your Momma's homemade version of animation and it'll suit me fine any day over material like "Final Fantasy" or for that matter, anything Disney has done of late. Stop motion animation has never been this charming and though I may be reviewing this with nostalgic-colored glasses, certain things about this TV special-made-into-DVD are undeniable. The music of course is catchy, especially Burl Ives' Pillsbury Dough Boy persona belting tunes like "Silver and Gold" and "Holly Jolly Christmas". All supporting characters are lovable and the message couldn't be any more universal and thoroughly modern: don't try to be anyone, but yourself. I've encapsulated it in very trite terms, but make no mistake, there's nothing trite about this little gem. It's a great one for the kids to watch over and over.

Summary: The Unbeatable 1964 Holiday Special!
Review: This holiday fantasy has been around for close to 40 years now! But it's still fresh every time you watch it! It's truly a timeless tale of wonder and adventure! I've always loved Burl Ives in his role as snowman/narrator. And the original music is just perfect for this program. Having it on DVD is a real treat now, too! You can't wear the disc out. It should last forever, just like the memories we get from what the disc contains! "Rudolph" is better when viewed in its COMPLETE uncut version, which IS the version on DVD and VHS! What with the tons and tons of commercials you are forced to endure during any of its showings on TV, the original print has suffered greatly, with several minutes of footage having to be cut. Watch it on tape or new DVD instead! And don't forget: "Bumble's bounce!!" :)

Summary: The Greatest Reindeer of 'Em All
Review: Christmas just wouldn't be the same without this all-time family classic. While the stop-motion animation seems just a wee-bit antiquated, everything else about "Rudolph" remains timeless. The eccentric characters such as Herbie the Elf, Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snowman are unforgettable. The journey to the land of misfit toys -- toys which no children want -- is so sadly touching. The soundtrack, filled with sing-a-long classics, is one of the best, if not THE best, of all Christmas specials. Best of all is the grandfatherly Burl Ives in the role of narrating/singing snowman. Congenial and witty, Ives is the perfect host for this perfect holiday special. Overall, "Rudolph" endures because it delivers a timeless story in a very entertaining manner. Like a handful of Holiday classics -- "Charlie Brown's Christmas" and the animated "Grinch" come to mind-- "Rudolph" will undoubtedly entertain children for decades on end. Of course, we adults know that "Rudolph" isn't for kids only! Simply unforgettable.

Summary: SILVER AND GOLD DECORATIONS, ON EVERY CHRISTMAS TREE!
Review: I was watching a simpsons show that I recorded,and I stopped
it cause I was pretty much bored, and rudolph the red nosed
reindeer was on,I didn't even know it!

so I rewound the tape in my sony v.c.r.and recorded it,
so now I can watch it any time I want to!

It was kind of strange, because the other day I said that I wanted
to watch this, and it was on!

I have no complaints towards this movie, except in the one last
christmas, the songs were the same, but this year one song is
changed!

I wish that they would just left the songs alone.
I also have merchandise of this special, they are christmas tree
ornaments.

I have:

clarice

rudolph

and king moonracer the king of misfit toys.

of course my sister and my mom have the whole set.

who wouldn't?

I would reccommend this movie to anyone who loves rudolph
like I do!

I want this one for christmas!

Summary: Pillsbury Commercial?
Review: Overall, I'm happy with this disc. But I dropped the rating by two stars because of the Pillsbury commercial at the beginning of the program. C'mon, Sony. Was this really necessary? I thought we saw the last of this kind of thing in the 80's. Does anyone remember the candy bar ads at the beginning of the videos for Moonstruck and Dirty Dancing? Or the early Disney DVDs with the promos that you couldn't skip over? It's not a good idea to annoy your customers.
