Summary: Very, very disappointed
Review: As has been said in these reviews, the fact that the Bob company couldn't figure out how to make a dvd is really sad.

The content is okay, but until this company figures out how to make tracks and a menu, I would wait to buy anything from them. When you can't get past the previews or go to a particular track, you may as well have the vhs.

Summary: Bob the Builder vidoes
Review: Bob the Builder videos are great! I bought these for my 4 year old son, and I am hooked on them too! I can't wait for new ones to come out! I only let my son watch education movies that teach cooperation, manners, etc. I can't stand movies like Rugrats that have rude, obnoxious children that disobey their parents, etc. Bob the Builder is a winner!

Summary: Extremely Disappointed
Review: I usually buy DVD's for picture quality and the fact that they won't degrade over time. Mostly I enjoy the convenience of being able to go to any particular story (Track) at the touch of a button. I knew the stories on this DVD were one's previously released on VHS but that was not the issue. This ... DVD does not even have a menu. You can't even track forward or fast forward past the annoying commercials at the beginning. At first I thought my player was broken. It plays straight through like a VHS but at least with a VHS you can [non-view] Fast Forward. Until this company learns how to market to the DVD buying public, please don't waste your money on this one. I imagine that the other two DVD's released this year (2002) have the same problems but I'll never know since I won't be buying them. The maker of this DVD needs to take some lessons from the Thomas the Tank Engine people. In conclusion, this DVD NEEDS a menu, a way to get past the annoying garbage at the beginning, a few more episodes, a Spanish and French language option and some extras.

Summary: Great video!
Review: I'm not too sure why this video has gotten so many bad reviews, but we definitely think it is worth 5 stars in our house. It's very nice how Wendy surprises Bob with a birthday party and how the trucks make him a "cement" birthday cake. Wendy even gets to go line dancing in this video since Mavis sprained her ankle. The trucks get in on the act and do their own special "line dance." The segment on Spud trying to learn some manners is very cute, with Bob reminding him on how to wipe his mouth and to eat with utensils.

All-in-all, we give this one a 5 star rating. It's very enjoyable, moves very well and is quite educational.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: It was great to see the Bob the Builder videos come out in DVD format.. but we were disappointed with this DVD. No new shows, no extra items on DVD (games, etc), and NO menu! It's just a VHS format put on a DVD.

Summary: Can you dig it?
Review: My 2 1/2 year old can. I personally don't see the attraction to any of the Bob the Builder videos, but we watch this one every Friday Night. There is something about how Bob shouts "we won!" that really appeals to my son. I'm glad the stories are now being released on DVD and this one is more enjoyable than Pets in the Pickle.

Summary: Very good video
Review: My little brother just got this for his birthday - he's five and he loves Bob the Builder - so I watched it with him and I must say I was very favourably impressed. This is probably one of the best children's programs around. I appreciated the fact that all the characters were very positive - no bad attitudes etc - and just loved to work together and were kind to one another.

The stories on this video... The first was about Bob's birthday, when he thinks everyone has forgotten but Wendy dahling makes it a surprise party and assures Bob she'd never forget his birthday, while Spud waits impatiently for cake.

The second was a little story about Spud having dessert with Bob and Wendy and trying very hard to behave himself. Very cute.

In the third story Wendy goes to visit her sister and while she is gone Bob leaves Pilchard in charge of the office and re-landscapes Wendy's back garden, which is a mess. Needless to say, she is very touched when she sees the great improvement in her garden, but I wonder what she thought the next morning when she went into the office?

The fourth little story is about Dizzy helping Wendy to water the new garden.

The fifth story... Bob takes a day off to go photograph a rare bird in Farmer Pickles' field, but something has gone wrong with the computer and Wendy can't leave the office, so she keeps calling Bob to do the work until the repairman gets there. The repairman is a rather absentminded fellow who remembered to bring his lunch and is allergic to cats - or was it peanut butter?

The sixth story is another short one where some hedgehogs help Bob clean up a littered road (with a subtle hint at the very good point, "Don't litter")...

The seventh story concerns a cowboy line-dancing contest in which Bob plans to take part, with Mavis from the good old P.O. On the evening of the contest, Wendy has a pity party to Pilchard about being stuck at home watching TV while the rest of the town is dancing all night. And just then, Bob's cell phone rings, and it's Mavis who has sprained her ankle... so, Wendy drops a few rather obvious hints in Bob's direction and... off they go.

The last one was a little story about Dizzy and Roley singing with Bird. Pilchard jumps on the wall and frightens Bird and the Curtain Descends.

I recommend this highly.
