Summary: What the hell are you people smoking?
Review: I have only one thing to ask you people who say that the TMNT are back and better than ever: ...?" You can't possibly belive that this is actually better than the original series that aired in 1988. I mean come on. Does anyone besides me notice how so un-cool, un-hip, un-funky, and un-shelltastic this new series is? You people need to slap yourself a few times and wake up to the real world. This is not the TMNT I grew up with. This is, quite fankly, an insult to the original series and it is so not funny at all. I can't believe they would waste precious time creating a show as horrifying and utterly blatant as this one. The only thing I like about this new series is the opening song but that's about it. From there on it's just trash, trash and more trash. I, quite frankly, have seen the original series and anyone who claims to have seen the original series and says that this is better than ever is a false prophet, a hoax, an illusion to try and get you to waste (money)on this abomination of a sequel. The new series is just trash and is an insult and offense to the original series. Everyone should steer clear of this and, in fact, don't even watch the series. The animation is just too cheesy and looks like something from Jackie Chan Adventures. I do not enjoy this animation very much, and I would rather watch Justice League than this because it at least sticks with the original traits of the original DC superheroes. I will stop soon but before I do I would like to point out the pros and cons of this series (the new series; not the old one)

Pros: Opening song

Cons: Cheesy animation
No taste in humor
Little enticing action
None of the original characters like Rocksteady and Bebop
Umm...... it stinks

I hope none of the other people get dragged into the mesmerising world of terrible animation and the like. Do not buy this! Buy anything other than this.

Summary: I've got a 7 year old that loves it!
Review: My son absolutely loves the ninja turtles. I rather him watch them than some of the other cartoons that are on tv now. I remember them from when I was young so the familiarity is there. Now I couldn't remember an episode of ninja turtles from the 80's to save my life but it doesn't matter cuz my son enjoys them and I do too. Of course he thinks it pretty neat that mom watched the ninja turtles when she was young too. Besides everything evolves with time to keep up with the Joneses. So I think it would be impractical to think that the same cartoons from almost 20 years ago would go as far as the newer ones.

(Even Mickey Mouse has new cartoons, which surely don't compete with the original but they have a new audience to sell to!)

Summary: New vs. "Original"...
Review: Please pay no mind to people like the last irate reviewer (the no name guy from Fairfield, CA)... I suppose it's not his fault he isn't familiar with the comic book source material, it remained something of a cult phenomenon while things like the "original" cartoon caught on like wildfire. My point is, he has nothing else to compare this new series to since he's only familiar with it's previous cartoon incarnation.

If you don't hold the 80's cartoon up as some holy grail of awesomeness please don't shy away from the new series because of his comments, you're more likely than not to enjoy it... especially if you were a fan of the original Mirage comic book (which this series borrows most of it's story lines from in a very direct manner, much like the first live action TMNT movie did). There is no Rocksteady and Bebop because they were an invention of the original cartoon... as was Krang (even though he was a knockoff of the aliens from the comic, the Utroms, which make an appearance in the new series).

I really don't want to rail on this guy, but he says that he'd, "rather watch Justice League than this because it at least sticks with the original traits of the original DC superheroes." So he's read the the Justice League comic, but he's unaware of the TMNT comic (which the new cartoon sticks to very closely, by the way)? It's more likely he's read neither, and I think it's a bit unfair how hard he knocks the new TMNT series when he's so misinformed about what the turtles are supposed to be, or at least what they can be. They're not limited to the two-dimensional silliness of the original series... they don't have to make asinine jokes and talk incessantly about their love of pizza.

I think the new/old direction this series is taking is a turn for the best, and I envy the kids growing up with this cartoon over those who grew up with the old one, as it's much closer to what the turtles were always intended to be, and it treats it's audience with some intelligence. Oh, and thank god the Shredder isn't a bumbling idiot like he was in the original cartoon (why was anyone ever afraid of that guy in that show?)... he's suitably menacing in the new cartoon. I guess that's about it... bye now...

PS: That previous reviewer should also look up the word "blatant"... he doesn't seem to know what it means... it seems like he meant to say "bland", but, as "blatant" has two syllables it won out as the smarter sounding word... sheesh...

Summary: The Ninja Turtles are the Shiznik!!
Review: This is a great episode of the extremely excellent new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!! Casey Jones is introduced to the Ninja Turtles via Raphael. It's a great introduction to the character since they both have short tempers. It's really hard to dislike this show, Turtle fan or not. At least they're releasing it on DVD, since they don't seem to be too interested in releasing the older one on DVD. Anyhow, cool episode!! Highly recommended!!

Summary: Casey Jones shows up.
Review: This is my favorite of the new TMNT volumes out, and it has Raphael and the rest of the group meet vigilante Casey Jones, who like Raph is a hothead, which causes Raph to confront his own hot-headed ways. And right after the Turtles gain this new ally they must deal with a nano-bot that's grown attached to a street-smart crook. One problem: In order to protect it's "daddy," the bot becomes more powerful... and BIGGER! The third volume has the green teens's second run-in with the Foot since the first episode, this time they have the power of this mystical sword. The DVD also introduces the Battleshell(think a hyped-up version of the Turtle Van from the first show). I think this volume is great... Mikey's still annoying, though.

Summary: Not enough TMNT
Review: This is the second volume of the new TMNT series. A lot of plot points are introduced in these three episodes, including the Turtles' first encounter with vigilante Casey Jones, their discovery of some interesting secrets concerning their new lair, the construction of their Battle Shell assault vehicle, and the introduction of the mystical Sword of Tengu. The Turtles also encounter a microscopic robot known as the Nano, which leads to an above-average filler adventure. If you're a Turtles' fan, these episodes are essential viewing.

However, see if you can either rent this DVD or catch the re-runs on TV. 3 episodes a disc is a blatant rip-off. WB puts at least 4 episodes on its Batman/Justice League DVDs. Those are bad enough, but 3 is inexcusable. As much as I love the Turtles, I'm not wasting my money on these DVDs.

TMNT is a quality cartoon series. This DVD is not.
