Summary: Too scary for children
Review: All the Care Bear merchandise is heavily marketed to preschool aged children but these "original" DVD's from the 80's are far from appropriate for that age group due to the evil scary content in every episode. The new care bear movie "Journey to Joke-a-Lot" is much more appropriate for young children.

Review: I got this DVD for my daughter, who loves the Care Bears. I don't think she had ever seen an episode, but has some stuffed animals, towels and stuff like that. The episodes are way too scary for kids that age. In one episode, a villian who is in a cloak with glowing red eyes kidnaps the care bears and takes them to his castle on the hill. I didn't realize this until my daughter started screaming and she ended up having nightmares that night. I am very upset about this DVD. It's very unfortunate that you can't return DVD's. Not appropriate for small kids AT ALL.

Review: I was so happy when dic released the first three dvd's of the orginal care bear series with Professor Coldheart, and now Nelvana's bringing back Shrieky, Beastly and No Heart!!! The shows included on this dvd are:

THE GREAT RACE:
Where the Care Bears hold a race to see who will be crowned queen or king for the day, but beastly joins in the action bent on winning using all sorts of horrible cheats.
HOME SWEET HOMELESS:
Where a flood forces the Care Bear Cousins to move into Care-a-lot and the Care Bears learns what it really means to care.My favorite from this dvd was the great race, as I remembered watching it when I was little ^.^ Hope this information helps and support the Care Bears!!!

Review: My daughter is almost 5. The villan in this movie, which looks a lot like the grim reaper, is so scary that my daughter started shaking and them crying when he appeared. The villan then proceeds to do bad things to the care bears and then another, less scary villan appears and does more bad things to the care bears. It has been one week since my daughter saw the movie and is still disturbed by it. Yes, it is too bad the movie isn't returnable! It's not appropriate for the young kids that it is made for.

I am 21 and can remember the very original cartoon in the early 80s, and that is the one I know and love. I gave this one three stars because it is also good, but it is not the original, and nothing is as good as the original. Todays generation should get a chance to experience care bears through the original cartoons the way they were meant to be enjoyed, but this is only my opinion.
