Review: I am so thrilled to have "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" on DVD. This brings back many happy childhood memories.
The DVD quality is very nice and includes a bonus, "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown".
For Peanuts fans of all ages, this is a must have :)

Review: This is a super DVD. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a classic holiday special. This is such a classic episode. This episode is super. It's fun hearing Linus talking about the Great Pumpkin. The bonus feature You're Not Elected Charlie Brown is a super episode. Linus runs for student body president. This is a super episode. I just love this DVD it is just great.

Review: Have you heard of dvd, and wonder what dvd looks like, have you seen cds or games for computers like Gateway2000? If you have, that is what a dvd looks like, and in my opinion the best thing about dvds is, that when you come to the end of a movie or (have a favorite part in a movie) you don't even have to rewind the dvd or even fast foward from the end to the begining or rewind or fast foward to your favorite part. Charlie Brown (Peter Robbins) has got an invation to a halloween party and he and most of the other kids are going trick or treating and then to the halloween party. Expect for Charlie Brown's best freind Linus (Chris Shea) and Charlie brown's little sister (Katy Steinberg) remain in the pumkin patch waiting for the Great Pumkin. Linus (of course) is the only one of the kids that believes in the Great Pumkin and everybody (expect for Charlie Brown's little sister) laughs at Linus and tells him the Great Pumkin is a f-a-k-e. If you are a nig Peanuts fan this is just the special to buy and watch every halloween.

Summary: The #1 Halloween Classic!
Review: The Halloween Special never caught on quite as strongly as the Christmas Special over the past few decades, but there was a time when they were something many of us looked forward to annually, and today some of them are now considered just as much classics as their Christmas counterparts. There was the Garfield Halloween Special, the live-action specials "The Worst Witch" and "The Halloween That Almost Wasn't" (known as 'The Night Dracula Saved the World' on VHS), Bugs Bunny's Halloween Special, "Raggedy Ann and Andy and the Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile," and a few others. The king of the Halloween Specials, of course, was the 1960's classic, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"
It's Halloween, and everyone is getting ready to go trick or treating, followed by the big Halloween party at Violet's house. Somehow, Charlie Brown has recieved an invitation too! Everyone is excited! But Linus has different plans. Linus is a firm believer in The Great Pumpkin, Halloween's answer to Santa Claus. It seems that every Halloween Night, the Great Pumpkin flies through the sky in search of the most sincere pumpkin patch around, and when he finds it, the lucky kids who are waiting there for him will get tons of presents and candy! Everyone thinks Linus must be crazy! But Charlie Brown's little sister, Sally, has a huge crush on Linus, and has decided to take a chance on him. She agrees to give up trick or treats and spend the night sitting in the pumpkin patch with Linus, waiting for The Great Pumpkin to arrive.
"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," is loads of Halloween fun with our favorite group of sassy comic strip kids. Snoopy performs his legendary WW1 reenactments, Lucy is meaner than ever, and Charlie Brown couldn't be Charlie Brownier. Who else could get nothing but rocks when trick or treating? The DVD is great, with a bonus Charlie Brown Special to boot! "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown!" In this special, Linus suggests that Charlie Brown should run for class president, but when Lucy takes a poll, it appears that Linus would have a much better chance. The Peanuts gang immediately sets to work on getting Linus elected, but it seems that the Great Pumpkin will ruin yet another day in Linus' life in the end. It's a fun little special, but nowhere near as wonderful as "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" Pick this one up for the feature presentation, but stick around for the extra!

Summary: You the Man, Charlie Brown.
Review: When you think of Halloween movies, there really aren't many Halloween movies that the whole family can watch and enjoy. Most Halloween pictures are horror movies not suitable for anyone younger than sixteen. There's GHOSTBUSTERS, but many parents won't let young children watch that because the ghosts are too scary. E.T. takes place at Halloween, but nobody really considers E.T. to be a Halloween movie. The only Halloween picture that the whole family can enjoy is the little 30 minute cartoon that was made for television, IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN. Out of all the Charlie Brown cartoon specials, this one probably focuses on Charlie the least. Instead, the central character is Linus VanPelt and his sincere and patient wait for The Great Pumpkin. They sure don't make them like this anymore. The DVD includes the bonus feature, YOU'RE NOT ELECTED, CHARLIE BROWN. The class election is about to be held and Linus thinks Charlie would be a great class president. However, Lucy takes a poll and finds that only 2% of the student body would even consider voting for Chuck. But a lot of people think Linus would make a good president. That is until he makes a speech the day before the election about The Great Pumpkin. The cartoon isn't as memorable as IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN, but with it's focus more on Linus and reference to the Great Pumpkin, it makes a nice supplement.

Summary: Passing Snoopy and the gang on to my children
Review: A couple of months ago, I asked my oldest sons, ages 6 and 4, if they wanted to watch "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown". They didn't know who or what I was talking about. I was amazed... and disappointed... and determined to remedy it! So I taped that movie off the TV-- and was extremely pleased to discover this DVD ... recently. I watched it every year growing up- and now my kids have the oppotunity to watch it as often as they desire. This is good, wholesome fun- the kind we grew up with. Not violent, not R-rated... just good, clean fun- and the kids love it! For those of you who have seen it- share it with your kids. For those who haven't- start a new tradition. DVD's are especially nice for those with children- no rewinding, and they can be watched over and over and over again.

Summary: Fine Animation & Wonderful Story -
Review: Who can honestly say they don't like the Peanuts Gang? I grew-up with this wonderful animated story ..., and I must admit, the magic is still there for me. Even given the fact that, this home-video presentation of a CBS classic lacks flow, due to the fact that, the commercial breaks have been removed, its storytelling works like a charm! Scenes with Snoopy fighting the Red Baron are truly avant-grade, very much like other experimental animation and graphic design of the 1960's; Inviting to the imagination. Perhaps, you might invite your children to expand their imagination as Snoopy does... "Imagining he's a World War One flying Ace..." As a whole, its actually a very tight story structure that, I defy adults to take issue with.

Summary: One of the very best "Peanuts" shows
Review: I always admired Charles Schultz for showing that kids are really just small people, that within their limited range of experience they love, laugh, suffer and worry as much as their parents. This show was always particularly special to me for showing that many rituals and religious symbols can be traced to more earthbound origins, and that one should be careful what one tells an impressionable child. That being said, one of the more whimsical things about "The Great Pumpkin" is that you always wonder where Linus heard this fable, not why he believes in it so deeply. A great cartoon show for the ages.

Summary: Doesn't anything ever go right for Charlie Brown?
Review: Poor Charlie Brown. He gets rocks in his bag and once again theweight of the world is pushing down on him. This is another classic from Charles Schultz. As usual he is able to draw us in to Charlie's world and let us sympathise with him. At some point in all of our lives we have felt like Charlie. Along with "A Charlie Brown Christmas", no home should be without this video. The story is so pure that any child under 99 will love it.

Summary: A classic, but...
Review: Having not seen this for a number of years, I was excited to view it again a couple of years ago. I was in a way disappointed. All of the scenes with Charlie Brown and the gang are great, but the Red Baron scenes tend to go on a bit long for my tastes. But don't let that dissuade you. This belongs in every Halloween video library.
