Summary: Reports of censorship are greatly exaggerated
Review: Reports of censorship of this DVD are greatly exaggerated. It's the same transfer as the 1998 laserdisc. Only two shots have been modified (NOT cut -- just modified) compared to the original laserdisc, and the changes are so minor you would only notice if you pause on the right frames and know what to look for. Also, even the original laserdisc & VHS releases were modified compared to the original 35mm theatrical release (to cover Betty Boop in one frame in which she was not fully covered in the 35mm prints).

This DVD is the best way to view Roger Rabbit short of buying your own 35mm print.

Summary: An Awful DVD of an incredible movie
Review: This is one of my favorite movies ever; there's not a moment that I don't believe that toons and humans are interacting...but this version is a censored version of the film. They cut parts without the consent of the director, and for this reason, I beg you not to buy this version. Wait until they correct the bowdlerization of this masterpiece

Summary: Beware - censored version of movie!
Review: Caveat emptor -- this DVD release contains a censored version of the movie, different from the previous Laserdisc and VHS releases. It was apparently altered without the director's approval.

Summary: Big Screen Film Fares Poorly On A Television Set
Review: The great thing about Who Framed Roger Rabbit is hardly the plot or the live actors, both of which are merely so-so; it is the brilliant combination of incredible animation with live action. And unfortunately, unless you happen to have a cinema-sized projection screen tucked in the living room, you'll miss most of the details which made the film as entertaining for adults as it is for children.

Summary: Featureless DVD
Review: This DVD is a very weak release of a terrific movie. There are no bonus features -- including scenes once broadcast on network television -- and Disney went back and changed some of the animation to sanitize it. Here's a big thumbs down and I hope they re-release it with the original animation and with enough features to make the DVD worth the price.

Summary: WHAT HAPPENED TO:
Review: Popeye, Mighty Mouse, Bosko, Astroboy (wrong era? Bozo, also a 1960's tv character, was in the flick!), Screwy Squirrel, and for the love of mike, Felix the Cat?????

Summary: Still searching for the trailer
Review: As you probably know, 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' is a great movie. Unfortunately, the DVD version offers ZERO extras. No cut scenes. No feature commentary. No 'making of' featurette. And NO trailer (the back cover clearly states that the trailer is on the disc)! Isn't there some kind of law against such blatant false advertising? The picture and sound quality are good, but owners of DVD players deserve more than just a bare-bones copy of the movie, especially when it's a cinematic/special effects achievement of this caliber.

Summary: The DVD is a disappointment
Review: I want to give the movie 5 stars because it is one of my favorites, and I was so looking forward to this DVD coming out (it was actually a huge surprise for me when I learned that this movie was going to be released on DVD the next day!). I bought it the day it came out (I guess that would be today). On the cover of the DVD it says that the trailer from the movie is on here. Well, it's not. As for the picture & sound quality, very nice, but it would have been nicer if Touchstone had slipped in those "bonus scenes" that we only got to see once on TV.If I were behind the DVD version I would have included all the extra scenes, the behind-the-scenes special, as well as the trailer. A movie this good deserves better treatment.

Summary: mind boggling hysteria
Review: i purchased this movie probably about 6 yours ago and still find it as funny as the day i bought it. it has enough innuendos and adult jokes to keep the interest of the older crowds, and is still clean enough that if i had children i would let them watch this movie. it has the old 'bugs bunny and animaniacs' humor the really keep your attention and be suprisingly enjoyable. i will continue to watch this on a regular baasis
