Summary: Funny, good laughs, poor quality.
Review: Basically its a cartoon. NOT a Toy Story. Plain cartoon animation and disappointing effects. But the story is funny and the jokes are great at times, especially the subtle ones that click in your head a few minutes later. Much of the humor flew over the heads of my 1 and 3 year olds, but the adults in the room were smiling. The extra features were extremely lame on the DVD, don't even bother to play them. My 3 yr old son will probably make me watch it with him too many times, but he liked it and I'll suffer through.

Summary: Past Infinity and Beyond
Review: Funny, charming, fast-paced & well-written. This video rocks! Tim Allen is excellent as he reprises his role as Buzz Lightyear. The supporting cast does an excellent job as well. The LGMs are as funny as always. Sean P. Hayes' "Brain Pod" is hysterical. I was especially impressed to see "Princess Mira"'s character written as a strong, independent female. What a wonderful role model for girls of all ages. I highly reccomend this video. There is something for everyone. William Shatner's rendition of 'To Infinity and Beyond", just adds to the fun. Take it from someone who can't sit down to watch an hour of anything...Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, is the best 70 minutes in front of a VCR or DVD

Summary: Laughed throughout the whole movie!
Review: I have to admit, at first, I was really skeptical. I thought this was going to be one of those really cheesy animated rip-offs. However, I wanted to complete my Toy Story collection and so, got a copy. I was so happily surprised! This movie was incredibly funny! It was very entertaining, and the people of Disney did Toy Story justice. I have not laughed so hard at an animated cartoon in a long time! It was really genuinely hilarious! The new characters are well developed. And the LGMs (Litte Green Men) are all in the movie, what more can you ask for? "OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!"

Summary: Great addition to kids DVD collection!
Review: We just finish watching this DVD and loved it. I knew all the bad press about this movie was from people who expected to see another Toy Story. This is not a big time movie. I see it more as being like a great 70 minute Saturday morning cartoon. After all that's what kids like! Buzz's sidekicks were very funny and the story line was well written. I'm proud to add this DVD to my daughter's collection.

Summary: Nice Direct-to-Video Works of Two Levels
Review: On the surface, "Buzz Lightyear" looks like a Pokemon-style Saturday morning cartoon. It is certainly that, but it actually has some wit and cleverness about it, too. Firstly, there's the all-too-brief Pixar computer animated intro (about 4 mins.) featuring Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of Andy's toys (Buzz, Woody, and Rex are the only ones who speak, though). We watch as Andy's toys insert this cartoon into the VCR. Then, we go smoothly into the animated Buzz's world. Thus, on a different level, this is a wry video that combines great sci-fi action with the clever twist of showing the viewer how Buzz became popular with his own TV series in the fictional world of the "Toy Story" movies. As with most of Disney's quality products, the video succeeds both ways--like the two "Toy Story" films, this 70 minute video is funny and smart at once. Plus, another reason to purchase this is to have the great song (over the closing credits) "To Infinity and Beyond" performed by William Shatner and the "Star Command Chorus". A true gem in itself. Overall, this an hour worth of entertainment you'll want to enjoy several times.

Summary: Toy Story in hand-drawn animation format! I don't think so!
Review: Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins comes at a time when Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are due on DVD from October and is available in a 2 DVD set or a 3 DVD set which is bound to make Disney and Pixar have dollar signs flash in their eyes at the thought. What makes no sense is this incredibly poor direct-to-video idea which cashes in on the convenient idea that Buzz was once a cartoon hero himself. What most people buying this title will not realise unless they've seen Disney's tacky trailers is that unlike the sooper dooper computer animation we associate with Toy Story, this is traditional hand-drawn animation. It's plain old animation in its most primitive sense. Toy Story's appeal was the 3d animation making the whole thing so realistic and freshly removed from traditional animation format. Buzz does not convert well into hand-drawn animation and he's lost Woody - something that made Toy Story quite amusing. So what are we left with? Shallow space adventures ala Transformers or Buckey O'Hare - indeed with a high Disney gloss, but none of the formula which made such an addictive potion of entertainment that was Toy Story 2! I love Disney and Toy Story, but I really frown at this step backwards in Toy Story features.

Review: Without the aid of PIXAR's wonderful digital effects-this movie really fails.I think they should have saved the money and given the funds to PIXAR to make another great feature film for us to enjoy. Save your money for Toy Story and Toy Story 2, or Bug's life. Or look into getting a copy of the collected PIXAR short films.

Summary: GREAT EXPECTATIONS!
Review: How can you review an item that has not been released?... Especially this one, that comes directly to Video and DVD... Well, it's from the same guys that brought the Toy Story Saga. After that incredible begining in Toy Story 2 where we had the chance to see Buzz Lightyear not as a toy but as a Galactic Hero I am really looking forward to experience his first complete adventure in space. His archenemy Zorg is going to be there, as well as the little green guys... Ohhhhhhh! And I am also particularly looking forward for the extra DVD features. To infinity and beyond!
