Summary: It's Unquestionably...Excelent!
Review: Now, before I begin, I encourage Tenchi Muyo! OVA fans not to turn away from the Tenchi TV series. The TV series isn't AS GOOD as the OVA series, but it is great. Even if you are an OVA only fan, espescially for Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe is worth watching!

The Tenchi Universe (Tenchi Muyo! TV) series is more like an extention to the first Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA series. The animation/art is simallar... however, it isn't as detailed as the OVA series is... but you must understand. There are VERY FEW animé (or any) TV shows that have very detailed animation in EVERY episode... with maybe the exception of the best/important ones. The characters have about 95% the same exact roles in this series as they do in the OVA. Some characters are changed slightly... but not to the extent as that they are totally different people, as some shows do. The music is very well done... concidering it's a TV series and not fully THX mastered as the OVA series is. But, again, you must understand, TV series aren't perfectly detailed in every episode! I give Pioneer a lot of credit for the english translations for the songs... and they are well done (espescially the opening and closing songs). I'm looking forward for a Tenchi Universe soundtrack (if ever) to be released in the US from Pioneer in the future.

As I said before, Tenchi Universe is very simallar to the TM! OVA series... like an extened version of it. To make a 8 DVD-set-long story (sumwhat) short, the story's about Tenchi Masaki, a boy who is practicing to be a meditator at the Masaki Shrine, and how his life was turned upside down when he observes two space ships crash-land on earth... and finds the infamous space pirate Ryoko among the reckage (ofcourse, he didn't know she was a pirate untill later in the first episode). Along with the arival of Ryoko was the clumsy, airhead, Galaxy Policewoman Mihoshi... who was after Ryoko to arrest her (but fails to). Afterwards, Ryoko and Mihoshi stay at Tenchi's house for a while.
After Ryoko and Mihoshi's arival is Ayeka and Sasami, the two crowned princesses of the planet Jurai, the resurrection of the mad scientist Washu, and the arival of Mihoshi's (very unlucky) partner, Kiyone (who only appears in the OVA once in the Mihoshi Space Adventure Special). All six of these women keep Tenchi on his feet in one way shape of form. Tenchi, along with the six women, his grandfather, and his woman-crazy father, go on several adventures like in space and in even thier own special worlds ("thanks" to Washu). The Tenchi Univesre season is, by far... unquestionably... excelent!

All in all, Tenchi Universe is a great TV series, even if it isn't AS GOOD as the OVA. It is a complete season, meaning that it doesn't just stop after the 12th or 13th episode! It packs action, suspence, romance, (LOTS OF) humor, and above all... the fabulas and out-of-control story of Tenchi Muyo!

Summary: My only complaint is the lack of plot
Review: Okay, once again the makers of Tenchi said, 'Who needs continuity, we have a better idea'. So, don't be expecting this one to match up with either other series (OAV or Tenchi in Tokyo). It starts things anew and goes from their. In also adds Kiyone into the Tenchi universe (and this hard done by Galaxy detective is probably my second fav character in the series). Overall the story isn't bad, their just isn't enough of it. Too many of the episodes are totally disposable from the series and are forgetable, but overall the series is quite good.

Summary: Solid storyline but nothing like the OVA
Review: One of the many things I liked about the OVA was how all the girls were trying to get tenchis attention. In the universe series only Ayeka and Ryoko are definately interested with Sasami only possible interested in any realtionship beyond friends. However the storyline to the universe series is more solid than that of the OVA. The main problem really there are just some episodes in the universe series that I intentionally skip. "NO NEED FOR A GHOST" well first off that whole title thing starts to get really annoying and second off this episode simply hap no appeal to me. The "Time and Space Adventures" well it is funny but you can skip it and not miss a beat in the storyline really. Then there is Nagi who of corse is better looking than all the girls combined my own personal opinion. Ayeka makes fun of Ryoko during her kareoke scene calling her a 700 year old mummy women. That makes no sense cause that only happens in the OVA not the universe series. Kagato goes from being scientist to well you'll see. I do like how they manage to draw tenchi's mother into the storyline in "NO NEED FOR MEMORIES", this was not done in the OVA, told you that title thing gets really annoying huh? All in All it is a good series and I enjoy it more and more each time I watch it.

Summary: Not the original
Review: Some may feel I'm being harsh with a score of two stars, however, if you've ever seen the original OAV series you would know I'm not. Universe follows a completely different plot/history from the original Tenchi. Why's this bad? The original formula was already perfect. Every character connected in some strange way and made you think "Wow, that's interesting. I never saw that coming." The characters' histories and personalities were better developed in the original as well.

For example: in this Universe series, we're introduced to character Kiyone ( who wasn't in the original ). She turns out to be Mihoshi's ( a Space Police officer ) old partner. Before this series, Mihoshi was a very fun and interesting character with little quirks and hints of a hidden past or unknown truth. But with the introduction of Kiyone, Mihoshi loses all individuality, becoming like a puppy around Kiyone, following at her heels. I doubt one's even ever seen without the other.

To make this review short and simple -- if you were a fan of the OVA series ( and though to my understanding it was never completed, I still suggest everyone see it ) then you won't like Universe.

Universe ruins the perfect balance of plot, story line and character developement seen in the original series. It's a disappointment, but not as much of a disappointment as the "Tenchi in Tokyo" spinoff, which deserved a rating of 0 stars if that were possible.

The only thing about Universe I enjoyed were the episodes in which reality within this alternate reality became twisted, sending the characters into foreign lands and points in history, and the final episode which is a decent tribute to the series, but still not original Tenchi Muyo calibur.

Summary: What Can We Say, It's Tenchi!!!
Review: Tenchi Muyo is one of the MOST popular series ever to be braught from Japan to America. (Pioneer dubbed and subbed it.) While I haven't been fortunate enought to see the OVA, I have seen all of these episodes, (and all of the movies and Tenchi in Tokyo), AND, as the BIGGEST anime fan EVER, must say that it is one of the best series ever created. The character design is brilliant, the animation techniques beautiful, and the storyline kicks serious blankety-blank. (Threw that in for all the Martian Successor Nadesico fans out there reading this! heh heh ;) ). Anyway, trust me on this one; Tenchi Muyo should not be missed. Ever. By anyone. If you are a true otaku, then you should seriously go for this one. Subbed or dubbed, whichever you happen to pick up, either will rock.

Summary: Tenchi Universe
Review: Tenchi Universe is an odd but cool series. It all starts out as a beauty queen named Ryoko is chased to earth buy the Galexy Police.Ryoko meets Tenchi and tells him that a space pirate is after her.Once Ryoko defeats the Galxey Police a first class police person named Mehoshi comes out and says that Ryoko is the space pirate. After having Mehoshi's space craft destroyed she and Ryoko are stuck on Earth.Later in the episodes Aiaka,Sasami,Wahsho, and Keonni come to seen.In this series Aiaka is assrested by planet Jari by Prince Yosho(which is supposed to be died).Sinse Ryoko was with her she was taken under arrest since she was the one who nearly destroyed the planet. That where the whole thing begins.I won't tell you who Yosho is since it will ruin the stroy. This is a great series probably the best Tenchi series too. It's funny, odd, execting and plain different.

Summary: Volume 7 of the Tenchi Universe.
Review: The first episode is a swimsuit episode, which is pretty normal for anime, so no surprises there. The plot is that, once again, the gang needs money. The ship needs some repair work done and the fastest way to make money, besides the jobs they've taken, is a swimsuit contest in which the winner gets one million Jurai dollars. Everybody decides to join. After all, with so many pretty women ONE of them has to win. Even Nagi joins the contest! The ending of this episode is no surprise, but it is kind of funny. I won't give it away.
The next episode is just as funny, even if it does bring us back on track to the main story arch. Tenchi and the gang need to get past the outer defenses of Jurai space. So they pretend to be a school group to get through the checkpoint, one of the many space stations that encircle that area of space. Tenchi even cross-dresses to be a girl! I don't want to give too much away, but the episode is not just funny, it shows us that not everybody is against our Heros.
The last episode is somewhat serious. While being chased they enter a sector of space that is forbidden, a sacred place to Jurai. The shock is that Katsuhito is the one that directed them to fly into it! He knew it was there and he has brought them to it for a reason. He has come to uncover two Knights of old, Knights who would awaken to help the Jurai Family in time of great need. So they land on a planet within the region to find the Knights. But things don't go as planned.

This last episode can be very confusing but it reveals alot about almost everybody! Who Katsuhito really is, how willing Sasami is to make friends, so on. This DVD is a must to understand and enjoy the last DVD in the series.

Summary: It was truly a good series dont get me wrong.....
Review: The first time I viewed tenchi muyo the OVA series was about a month ago. Then I recieved information that Tenchi Universe was just as good...or so I thought. The beginning of the series was different from the OVA series by far because of how ryoko and tenchi meet. Princess Ayeka on the other hand was still the same as the OVA. The most irritating character on the show HAS got to be Mihoshi. She is the worst character in any of my anime series that I own. The beginning of the series was irritating and it was just annoying, but when they started talking about the ruler Yosho then it got interesting. The ruler happens to be an imposter named Kagato(just like from the OVA series). Then tenchi's grandpa steps in and revives Azaka and Kamedaki(which happens to be quite awesome if i do say so myself) and then rushes to Jurai to confront the imposter. Then ill leave the conclusion to the viewers of the series. Over all it wasnt a bad series just the beginning was horrible but the ending kinda makes up for it.
