Summary: A monstrously funny film for all ages
Review: "Monsters, Inc." is one of those great films to which both my 5-year old nephew and I can give our highest rating. A wonderful animated fantasy with suberb vocal performances, "Monsters" is full of both suspense and laughs.

Briefly, "Monsters" depicts a society of monsters that inhabits a world parallel to ours. Its theme is thus not unlike that of "Men in Black" or "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," which also imagine fantastic alternate realities that exist beyond the perception of most people. The monsters of "Monsters" routinely cross into "our" world in order to harvest the energy gained by the terrified screams of children. But the lives of our monstrous heroes are complicated when a human child crosses over into the monster realm.

The filmmakers do an excellent job of creating a complete monster society from this premise. The monster world is populated with some of the most visually imaginative characters in recent film history. My favorite (as well as my nephew's) is Waternoose, a multi-eyed crustaceanlike creature with an elegantly rolling gait. The voices to the monsters are perfectly cast: Billy Crystal, John Goodman, James Coburn, Steve Buscemi, and Jennifer Tilly have major roles.

There is a great action scene in the film that is as thrilling as anything in an "Indiana Jones" film, and some great satiric material which will particularly please adult audiences. The film as a whole has a bright, colorful, energetic look, and the filmmakers add in just the right amount of sentimental appeal. Although "Monsters" is partly about fear, the film ultimately celebrates the power of laughter, friendship, and courage. And don't worry, parents: our monster heroes are essentially friendly creatures who want to do the right thing for the little lost child, who becomes quite fond of them. This is a wonderfully entertaining film for viewers of all ages.

Summary: Take your 3 year old!
Review: How often do we parents get to take our kids to movies that WE want to see? Well - this is it! It's rated G - YEAH! And it's a blast. It's only an hour and a half so even a little guy who's now wearing big-boy underwear can sit through it.

I just LOVED Sulley and Boo, the little girl, is adorable.

I can't wait for it to release on video.

Summary: The best Disney-pixar film since Toy Story
Review: I think this is the first film that I have seen where monsters are scared by children, instead of children are scared of monsters. But I don't get why people went to see Hary Potter when the film opened on 11/16/01. And this past weekend. I somewhat agree with Roger Ebert, when he said that you can pick out the voices of John Goodman and Jennifer Tilly at Yankees Satium.

As Monsters, Inc opens we met Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (voice of John Goodman). On his girlfriend's birthday . He tells his girldrend named Celia (voice of Jennifer Tilly of Liar Liar, Stuart Little) that he has gotten a table at a rstuarnt. But a little girl shows up and scares the monsters. Pixar made a comeback from after having the worst film Toy Story 2. I don't count the Buzz Lightyear movie because it was in the theartres Like this. Mybe if you don't like the Chicago Bulls, and want to kill two and a half hours of your life.

Summary: Kids and Parents will very much delight in this story
Review: From a parents point of view you have to wonder - is this movie appropriate for my 3-5 year old? If you have kids you know that even in "Rudolf the Red Nosed Reigndeer" the abominable snowman's roar can scare kids. The first 5 minutes of this movie will certainly scare kids. However - after that bump the rest of the movie will delight your child and keep you interested too. The humor is great and the story line is well done. If one of the parents is a computer engineer or geek of any sort the animation is likely to be a huge draw as it was for me. It is a great movie and will appeal to a very large age range.

Anyway, I do recomend this movie, for everyone. You will see funny items and hear funny items. There is a lot to please the veiwer.

Summary: Perhaps the Cutest Movie You¿ll See All Year...
Review: Like Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Antz and Shrek before it, Monsters Inc. is another powerhouse kids movie (from our good friends at Pixar) with all those cool animatronic characters we've come to marvel at. Full of comedy (lots of it slap-stick) and lovable (but not all that scary) characters, this movie will be loved by kids of all ages and just about anyone who sees it.

The basic plot follows the adventures of Sully (the huge bear like creature) and Mike Wazowski (you'll be hooked by the end...)(the one-eyed green thing) who work for Monsters Inc. In Monstropolis, the city is powered by the screams of young children who the monsters scare at night via a HUGE network of children's closet doors that they crawl through. The odd thing is that the Monsters are even MORE scared of the children, and that is where our story takes off as little baby "Boo" ventures into the world of Monstropolis. What follows is a hilarious (and cute) story of scares, laughs and corporate intrigue as Sully and Mike stumble across a dastardly plot that begins as a simple game of "healthy" competition between Sully and the chameleon Randal.

Movie Highlights:

- Our heroes chasing the villain throughout the world via the network of closet doors (that's TOTALLY ultra-cool).

- The hilarious actions of the "Child Detection Agency" and all their CODES.

Aimed more at the "cute" factor than its earlier predecessors, Monsters Inc. is bound to leave you with a smile on your face (or barf bag depending on your tastes) by the end of the film. Already a commercial success tons of parents are bound to be buying Sully, Mike or Boo dolls for X-mas.

Highly Recommended for kids and parents
Recommended for all others

Summary: Good, but not as good as Toy Story 2
Review: Pixar's Monsters, Inc. again takes animation to a new level. It also does a really good job at finding very expressive actors for the animations, in this case softy John Goodman for Sully and witty everyman Billy Crystal for Mike.

In all, the movie is pretty well done, but the viewer seeking a lot of inside jokes and humor for the adults in the audeince as there was in Toy Story or Toy Story 2 will be disappointed. There are also a couple of points in the movie that I noticed children in the audeince having a small problem seeing, but the picture does not dwell upon these scenes for too long.

If I was a kid, I would love for the characters in Monsters, Inc. to come visit me. But at the same time, I wish it had been funnier and on more levels as its predecessors were.
