Summary: The best.
Review: Let me cut the crap, get to the chase, and get down to brass tacks. Cowboy Bebop is one of the top 10 animes ever made...period. Wether your deciding to view it or buy it take into consideration that your going to be dealing with a Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Metropolis type anime. If you don't want to see one of the best animes ever, stay away. If your a fan of anime, animation, or just movies in general this should be in your library.

I believe the events in the Bebop movie take place somewhere in between some of the episodes around the late 20's. Like 24-25. But given that you should take this on as a viewing unrealted to the TV series. You don't need to see the TV series to watch this movie also. You can pop this in and watch it as if it were a stand-alone action film like Bad Boys 2 or The Matrix.

The movie opens in a convienence store. A few guys are holding up the joint and that's were Spike and Jet Black come in hunting down a bounty and accidentally becoming the heroes all at once. This sequence intorducing fans and 1st time viewers to several things. The two main characters, Spike's hand to hand combat skills and his light-hearted apporach towards life threatning situations, Jet Black's role as a freind, and sort of a worry some father figure, the incredible level of animation, I have yet to see better, the high level of writing and dialouge, and the entertainment value of the film. The opening sequence does everything a film of any kind needs to do to keep the watcher watching.

Then we set into the story. We are introduced to Faye Valentine, a unrealistically beautiful bounty hunter. Her role in the Bebop team is established in a fun manner as she bobs her head to some girly pop music. Off the top we can see that she's as laid back about this work as Spike. Then comes the main antagonist, Vincient. He's introduced in a fashion that you will never forget. In an explosion that has to be the best I've ever seen in an anime and finer than most explosions in live action TV or film. Vincient releases a deadly virus, and from there the story kicks into high gear.

The pacing of this movie is great, some might call it slow, but that's Bebop's style. Believe when the action starts you'll be inches away from the TV with your eyes bulging and mouth open, or rubbing the markings of your DVD remote's search button to see it again. Vincient and Spike's 1st meeting is so incredible you'll be wondering how the got some of those angles on the gun fight for weeks. The movie moves along perfectly as Bebop style, action, and comedy are carefully woven into each scene until the end were Spike and Vincient duke it out in a hand to hand combat brawl that makes other anime fighting look like stick figures bumping up against each other. Everything is so bright and alive, even when the setting is dark.

The music is nothing short of incredible. Even the opening peice will have you smiling anticipating the fun. Every peice fits and serves to enchance each scene but not overshadow it. Point blank you won't be entertained better by any other anime out there, this is as good as it gets folks.

My only problems with the film is a couple detectives that are introduced early on. The add a bit of comic relief but seem to be out of place and just taking up time that could be better spent developing other characters and there stories like the gorgeous

Summary: stunning animation
Review: This is one of the best done anime films I have seen, I think this film is even on par with the Miyazaki films, which I also recommend. The series was great, and so is this movie, except the music isn't the usual Cowboy Bebop style. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes art/drawing, since this is some very professional stuff.

Summary: Technically Brilliant but without a soul
Review: I was really looking forward to the release of this movie. I was a big fan of the show and when I heard that the movie was essentially a longer TV episode that actually appealed to me. Unfortunately, during the hiatus between the end of the show and the production of the movie, the team forgot what made the show good. The characters seem to be only shadows of their former selves, the plot is not developed and events happen for reasons that are not explained (For example: just why is a character involved in a dogfight with the military for example? The script gave no explanation why this character would be considered an enemy). Essentially it is more interested in looking good than BEING good. I've learned that when it comes to sequels or new productions of an old show in anime, you can't go home again.

Summary: Wow. This is GOOD.
Review: Having never seen the TV show, we picked this movie up on the recommendation of folks who thought we'd like it. Boy, were they right! The characters are engaging, the voice dubbing is excellent (unlike so much anime), the animation is beautiful, and the music is stunning! I was especially impressed with how well plotted the story was and how emotional the ending made me. An absolute must-see.

Summary: Not just a good anime, a great overall action flick!
Review: It's rare to find an animated feature that can be compared favorabley to a good live-action action movie. This one does it. The animation is impressive. The characters are well fleshed-out. The plot is a sure winner, with (in my opinion) a completely unpredictable resolution. The soundtrack is pretty darn good too.

While I do feel that folks who are already Cowboy Bebop fans would get the most out of this DVD, I think this film would also be enjoyable and exciting to someone who had never seen the series.

Summary: bebop on the big screen
Review: It might not have gotten a very warm welcome in theaters but the dvd is full of features and a classy enough movie to spend your hard earned cash on.

First off let's talk about the movie itself. Making a series in which each episode is like a 30 minute movie into an actual movie should of been seemless but it wasn't. The movie just tends to stray away from the series a bit. But all the problems were minor if anything and the fight scenes are just absolutley superb. The movie features enough good humor and the story is deep enough to make you want to watch more than just once too.

The extra features are excellent as well. A number of featurettes that feature interviews with both the japenese and american voice actors are also very interesting. As well as production drawings and the movies original trailer, which few people have probably seen in the first place.

This is one of the few dvds in my collection that i didn't wait around and buy it used. And in no way am I dissapointed. I give it a 4/5

Summary: Uh. I don't get it.
Review: I never liked Cowboy Bebop and I tried to watch all the episodes when I borrowed the box set from my friend. I wanted to see why people liked the series so much, but I honestly couldn't watch it because it was so boring. I thought maybe the movie would be better, but it's just as boring as the series. I really don't understand how everyone can like this so much. The movie isn't funny, I only laughed like twice, there is nothing good or interesting about the characters, plus I really don't like the way the way the movie looks. It's kind of dull and depressing. Am I the only one in the world that doesn't like Cowboy Bebop?

Summary: The new order
Review: So it's a fact. Hollywood is obsolete, lame, unimaginative, and boring. This is the future - a supremely well crafted blend of action, animation, computer graphics and style that sinks just about every single one of the tired, trite films that America has spawned over the past five years.
