Summary: The most amazing Anime I have seen yet!
Review: I am not a big fan of anime. In fact when my husband said he wanted to see this movie I tried to get out of it. I'm sure glad he made me go. While the movie doesn't have the special effects or computer graphics like the newer disney movies out today, it's by far superior in story line and characters. It will make you laugh out loud, as well as make you think about the damage we are doing to our planet. It's a beautifully written story about a young girls quest to save her parents, and learn a few things about herself. I would recommend this to anyone, although it does have a few scary moments I think most children see far worse in any of the newer disney movies. I don't quite understand what a few people thought was so awful about this movie and kids seeing it. I think as long as you explain and understand yourself the meaning of what happens it's a wonderful story that teaches a very valuble lesson about morals. Wonderful! I can't wait to own it on dvd.

Summary: Wierd...but very good
Review: I will assume that if you are a native Japanese, and speak it, and are accustomed to the myth and lore; this movie would make some sense to you. It made very little sense to me until the next day when I thought about it, and realized it was a contemporary look at human nature, and the inherent idea temptation and resistance. For the parent's that rant how it wasn't meant for children...a "PG" rating suggests that perhaps it isn't, the parent must decide, even if that means the parent buys a ticket and watches the movie themselves first...make informed decisions.

Summary: simply amazing
Review: This movie was without a doubt the best movie of the year. That is all that really needs to be said. Within minutes you are sucked into this beautiful and magical yet terrifying world that leaves your mouth hanging open. It's one of those movies that needs to be seen.

Summary: Another masterpiece!
Review: Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away is one of my favorite animes of all time! Although Disney did some tampering with the dubbed version, it is still amazing. Makes Alice in Wonderland look like an episode of Barney.

Summary: Spirited Away blew me away!
Review: Hayao Miyazaki has done it again! A story that keeps you glued to every moment. A fine mixture of mystery, comedy, love, adventure, greed... in a BEAUTIFULLY animated whole. Chihiro is a most delightful young heroin. This film has everything to keep you interested - monsters, cute "dust balls", gold, dragons, pigs, spirits, magic, big-headed ladies, and giant babies! Highly recommended!!!

Summary: One Of My New Favorite Movies
Review: Predictably, Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" won for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, and since then has become more popular. I have wanted to see this movie ever since it came out in theaters first, but haven't been able to since this weekend, when it was released into over 700 theaters (the highest theater count yet). The theater was packed, and, judging from the audiences reactions, they all enjoyed the film as much as I did. It is the story of a little girl who gets lost in a spirit world. She has to get a job and seeks help in trying to turn her parents back into humans, for they were turned into pigs. Along her adventure, she (don't remember the name, it was unfamiliar to me) makes friends, learns lessons about trust and greed, and overall becomes a stronger person because of her adventure. She goes into the world as a whiny, complaining, sort of a brat, and leaves as a strong individual who is now ready to handle anything. It is a truly charming story. Some other recommendations to go along with this are KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE (you can buy a 3 DVD set with this film, Kiki's, and another animated feature), MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, and PRINCESS MONONOKE. If you can, try to go out and see this movie while it's still in theaters (by the time my review is published, it still will be, and buy the DVD while you're at it. It's no surprise this movie swept the nation of Japan, and is winning the hearts of many in our own homeland! Go see this movie, you won't regret it! E-N-J-O-Y-!-!-!-!-!

Summary: pfft..kids
Review: I'm amazed at how many reviews comment on how unsuitable this film is for children, that kids at particular screenings had to actually leave the theatre. What is wrong with kids today? I, and my peers, grew up on the good stuff of the 80's. Movies were sometimes scary, and weird, but they were damn good. And how about that 'Jurassic Park' being marketed towards pre teens? That makes 'Spirited Away' look like an episode of 'Teletubbies', but we ate it up.

'Spirited Away' was one of the most lovely movies of 2002. It was one of the loveliest films I've seen, period.

This movie is too good to be hidden from your children. Just let them do what we did - we closed our eyes at the scary bits, and eventually learnt to watch them with our eyes open. We were having too much fun watching everything that came between. Turn off 'Blues Clues' and let them watch something good for a change.

Summary: Not for kids
Review: I took my 4 year old to see this movie because it was rated PG and was advertised as being for children. Well, it wasn't. My daughter was frightened by the spirits and the fact that Chihiro's parents were turned into pigs. The scenes where No-Face projectile vomits all over the bathhouse also scared her. I doubt this movie will appeal to wide-spread American audiences. This cartoon is too different and weird.

Summary: Fantastic Fairy-Tale
Review: This beatifully animated feature is not only entertaining, but gives insight into human nature and has a message of hope in the struggle to overcome our own faults and problems. Chihiro, a 10 year old girl who is moving to a new town with her parents, is somewhat sullen and gloomy, as she is leaving her friends and familiar home behind. On the way to their house, they lose their way and find themselves in a strange fairy-tale world - which turns out to be a bathhouse resort for spirits and demi-gods, and the proprietor is a witch. Her parents have been turned into pigs, and Chihiro is worried about what will happen to her until she meets Haku, a young servant of the witch, who teaches her to survive in this other world. So Chihiro gets a job at the bathhouse and waits for an opportunity to free her parents...
