Summary: GREATEST OF ALL!!
Review: First of all, I already bought the DVD, and it had a few extras that were very cool. But as for the actual feature presentation, it was more than 5-stars mind you! This is an amazing story of a small girl, Chihiro, later referred to as "Sen." She grows tremendously throughout the story, and shows her responsibility as a worker at a spirit bath house. She later meets new friends, and enemies. As well as the plot, the art is extremely well done. The expressions on Chihiro's face, the "cuteness" of soot balls, and the anger on a dragon, all show the genious of Hayao Miyazaki. Everything is so well done, especially the unfolding of the plot. Just watching this movie will make your day better (maybe even your year!) And you will want to watch this again and again! (I've personally watched it 5 times!) There's nothing more to say about this movie except you HAVE to buy this DVD, it'll make you appreciate anime and the power of a little girl against all odds.

Summary: Did you people see the same movie that I did?
Review: Boy, I am a bit shocked by all the great reviews for this film. I had read great things about this film before I got it last weekend. My kids liked Kiki. In short, this film was horrible, dreadful, and bizarre. Hard to follow. Scary for kids (6 and 8 year old) and adults (me). My kids have seen PG films before with scary scenes (Harry Potter, etc.), but this was a bizarre sort of scary. Sure, the storyline is a nice tale, which gives it a one star in my book, but perhaps this was one where the film should have been "Disney-ized" before pushing it as a family film. It makes me want to avoid Japanese anime even more!

Review: The sweetest movie I have ever seen, "Spirited Away" is touching and makes you want to watch it over and over. It gets so much better every time it is viewed. I just couldn't help myself. With the strong characters and the bold setting, "Spirited Away" is a great experience you will definately want to share with your friends and family again and again. Funny and enchanting. Get ready to be "spirited away"!

Summary: Good But overhyped
Review: I liked it,being a fan of animation. The story was good but it wasn't great. A intertaining FAMILY movie.

Summary: a bit overrated
Review: I was expecting more from this film considering it is the most successful film in Japan's history ever. It is long and slow in parts (many parts). The animation is great with many magical moments, but don't expect cool Matrixesque parts. I was hoping that characters would have more special powers etc. Overall the movie is great but don't believe the hype, watch for yourself. As far as people claiming that Disney has changed the film, this is totally untrue. Obliviously the translation from Japanese to English is not exact, but even with this great pains were taken to be as close as possible. Scene to scene, everything is the same. I definintely recommend watching this film possibly with some uhh emm mood enhancement. You know what I mean.

Summary: Best Anime movie ever... NO BEST Animated Movie
Review: WOW! Hayao Miyazaki is one hell of a director. The only Miyazaki movies I have watched is this & Kiki's Delivery Service (Great movie also) and i am not disapointed with them. This movie is about Chihiro, a young whiny and normal bratty girl who changes very much from the beggining to the end from a bratty girl to a strong young women. When i watch this it feels like it is not even 2 hours but a joy ride i could enjoy over and over. The first time i watched this i could not take my eyes of the screen. Thank you Miyazaki for your beautiful work and i will enjoy this movie forever. I so want to watch the rest of the movies like Castle In The Sky, Princess Mononoke, & My Neighbor Totoro. I cannot wait!!!

Summary: fantastic
Review: Spirited away is one of the greatest movies ive ever seen it ha a very compelling story of a plain ordinary girl and her family moving when her dad tries to take a shortcut they end up getting turned into pigs because they stole food from this world and the rest you have to watch with great extra features including behind the microphone where it tells and shows you who does the voices.

Summary: I'm not an anime fan . . .
Review: . . . nor do I particularly like child-hero fantasy works, but this is so good it should be seen by everyone. The animation is stunning, I guess that doesn't need to be said, and even if the overall story is a little cutesey for my tastes, the individual scenes present such novel visions to the senses that the film had me engaged throughout.

My favorite part was the brief presentation of the "real world", roads and traffic and such. My goodness, that was fine, I'd love to see Miyazaki do a film that wasn't set in a fantasy realm, just to see his renditions of cities and streets and real people doing normal things. His attention to detail would really shine in a setting like that.

It's been stressed below, but it deserves to be said again: Do NOT see the English language version, it will ruin it for you. The Japanese language version with (excellent) English subtitles is the only way this should be seen. That's true even though by all accounts this is one of the better adaptations into English. But it's still horrible in comparision, don't do it to yourself! You've been warned.
