Summary: Stunning and Beautiful
Review: I have never been so suprised or impressed by anything as I have been with this masterpiece. So many things are done so well in The Vision of Escaflowne that it's hard to pick out one element that makes it stand out among the others. I refer not only to this first volume of Escaflowne, but rather to the whole series. The perfectly developed characters are so convincing that you can't help but go through the same violent mood swings that they experience. Every element of good drama is in this movie. You laugh, cry, and put your fist through a wall. This story... This movie is in my opinion the best form of entertainment ever constructed.

Summary: Escaflowne belongs in Japanese!
Review: When a friend of mine first told me about Escaflowne, describing it as taking place in an '...Arthurian setting, but all the fighting is done in mecha called Melefs...' I had to see it. The only setback was that the series was only available in subtitled format, at the time I was leary of anything subtitled... After seeing just the first tape, I knew I would not be satisfied with less than the whole series, and wholeheartedly agreed with my friend when he said the series belonged to be seen in it's original language, much the same way I felt after seeing Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. So when I finally saved up enough money, I sat down and ordered the entire boxed set from Amazon. I finished the last tape 2 months before Fox started running ads for Escaflowne, I was shocked, 'Escaflowne in English? I have to see it.' Let's say I was GREATLY disappointed. Okay, so it is uncut and has harsher language than the watered down excuse Fox showed you, the fact of the matter is that the english dub job ruins the entire series. I may be biased, but everyone I have talked to who has seen the series in both english and japanese agrees that the original japanese voice actors are better, in fact the director put alot of time casting the voice actors, they are all top notch Japanese actors. If the horrible job Fox did interested you in Escaflowne, trust me and save yourself the money and headaches and buy it on DVD where you can chose the language or the VHS subbed version. I have since discovered that for every good dub, there are 10 horrid ones out there... Unfortunatly Escaflowne is one of these.

Summary: No Promises Needed
Review: Ok, I admit it, I first came across Escaflowne when it was on Fox Kids, I liked it enough to watch it until it was cancelled. I was so sad that day. Then I picked the DVD up! Okay I picked the DVD up a week ago since I was sooo busy with watching Cowboy Bebop. I love Escaflowne! It's sooo addicting! Great plot, great music, and for all the girls like me out there, romance! Escaflowne is the best out there next to Cowboy Bebop.

Summary: Do not listen to the fans, this series is no good
Review: I've always neglected anime series because of their poor animation and even worse story. When cowboy bebop (if you don't own it, buy it now!) came out I was sure that animation television series were finally coming into a light of their own. How wrong I was. The animation in Dragons and destiny is underwhelming, while the repeated scenes (ie whenever the main character mounts the cool steam-powered mecha) are well done the animation is incredibly blocky and undetailed. What really bugs me is that the animation cells (backgrounds) are terrible, fuzzy, uninteresting bland designs that will put you to sleep faster than the poor acting. The characters are superficial and bland, and all character interaction focuses around several boy crazy girls (sure to irritate feminists) who all are trying to be the girlfriend of the male lead. Sound familiar? That's because these are the same subjects that sailor moon, pokemon, brain powered, Lodoss war, gundam wing, evangelion, and every other poor series already beat to death. Of course, if your one of those anime fans who loves to latch on to and obsess over every poorly animated series picked up by American television networks, this is your anime. For those of us over the age of thirteen, find something that rewards your intelligence and maturity.

Summary: This was my daughter's review.
Review: She liked it at one time, but I think she outgrew it. Like Pokemon and other DVD's that she has, they're just collecting dust under their "out of control" school homework assignments. Now she watches "Friends" on TV. I use to think "Friends" was okay. But, now that my younger teenage daughter watches it, I'm abhored by it's tastelessness for television. "Friends" is very irresponsible television for "easy access" prime-time TV. I use to think the "blood and guts" of Escaflowne was something to worry about. Now, as a parent of a teen-age girl, I have new nightmares. Thank the American government for allowing television to be so corruptive to young viewers. With american television as irresponsible as it is today, who is President Bush to tell the Iraqi's what is a better way of life? Hey Bush, why don't we show Iraq our wonderful way of life in America by sending everyone there a couple of "Jerry Springer" episodes to watch.

Summary: the best i've seen
Review: this is the best anime ever- well i think so. the art is brilliant! It's ashame that it's put on Fox Kids because it is then over looked by older people who the show is really for. Any way this Dvd has the first 4 episodes which are kind of helpfull so you know who every one is. It is unedited so you get all the good bits. I was shocked to see how much is cut. I bet it's cut more over here than in America as well. So you like escaflowne, just what to find out what it is or are just interested in anime, BUY THIS!!!!!

Summary: PROBABLY THE BEST ANIME T.V. SHOW!
Review: This is defenetly one of my favorite movies ever! (Well, I know it's not a movie, but it feels like one!) One of the reasons I like it so much is because it is like a blend of about every genre of anime in one! It has fantasy, adventure, swordplay, magic, romance, robot-like armor, and even comedy! It is very fun to watch and makes your mouth water for vol. 2! By the way, I love the title song, "I Don't Need Any Promises", and the end credits song, "Mystic Eyes"! They are sooo cool!

Summary: The Beginning
Review: Undoubtedly the best anime series I've come across. This DVD is the start to a series that leaves you needing so much more, watching episode after episode and still feeling like you can't get your fill. Knights, battles, giant frickin' robots of death and destruction(Guymelefs) and all the essence of soap opera drama rolled into one gargantuan ball of absolute goodness. If you are down for real Anime, Escaflowne takes the cake hands down. Don't miss out.

Summary: The Best Japanimation!!
Review: I really injoyed this DVD because of the music videos, the trailers and of course the actual first four episodes of the Escaflowne sieries. It was so wonderfull that I finally got to see the uncut version of Escaflowne because I usually wathched it on YTV which is really sad I know. Whats really great is that in this DVD you can choose to watch it in Japanies with english subtitles or you can watch it in english. My faverout episode in this DVD is Diabolical Adonis because if you compare it to the cut version you'll see that half of the original version was cut out! OK I might be egsadurating a little bit but you get the point I presume. I'm not telling you that the cut version is no good but they had a point in cutting out the suposebly violent parts. The sound on this DVD is great even if you don't have surround sound it's really great. The presentation format is really good too I really enjoyed this DVD and if you are going to buy this DVD I'm sure that you won't regret it but still you could like it or not but if you already saw this sierise and you liked it you can always watch your faverout episodes over and over again instead of waiting each week to end so that you can see it. Well this really was a great DVD to watch.

Summary: A Journey of epic proportions!!!!
Review: SUMMARY of episode 1: Hitomi (Hi-toe-mee) , a soothsaying girl, is brought to a strange world where technology ,magic ,and the old ways of the knight co-exsist. She is brought there by a pillar of white and blue light, just after a young swordsman, Van (V-aw-n), slays a ferice dragon a take a stone from its heart/stomach/chest. The girl travels to Fenalia (Phen-A-leea), Van homeland. It turns out the Van is a king! But then, Fenalia is attacked by Zaibach (Zeye-bawk) mechas! The giant exosuits can turn invisible have an array of weapons in thier huge fists, including flamethrowers, lasers, and the Krema Claw, a sharp liquid steel spike that can tear through soild steel. The Claw acts like a living being, becoming a sword in an instant and capable of melting around something and then chrushing it instantly! But the Valgus, Vans swordmaster, instucts Van to pilot the Escaflowne, a elagant and regal Espano Gymelif (the word for the mecha in Escaflowne). Van fights the invisible giants with the help of Hitomi, who spots the bad Gymelifs before they strike Van. The two escape Fenalia (which is now burning) in another pillar o' light, but not before Valgus dies.

Citrically, the stroy starts out srot of clunky, but overall Escaflowne is a beutifully drawn, deep and mysical show, full of great characters and awsome music by Yogo Kondo. Do not pass it up!! (or down or left or right or.........)
