Summary: A Great Anime Series
Review: Genocyber is definately one of the best utlra-violent sci-fi/action films out there, and having all the episodes together on one dvd is great! The story revolves around a huge corporation, a psychic, a little girl, and government experimentations. Genocyber is this almost god-like creaure that was somehow formed by two psychic sisters. The plot line is a little hard to follow at times, but the action scenes are top notch. The only draw-back to this series is that it is extremely violent, and more than a bit weird. I enjoyed it, though, and highly recommend getting this dvd.

Summary: Not perfect, but not as horrid as some people think.
Review: Genocyber is something you'll either enjoy, or be completely disgusted by. This OAV is certainly not for the weak of heart.

The story at first bears resemblance to Akira, but goes off onto its own path eventually, although the time transitions could have been done a little better.

The animation isn't perfect, but it's passable, and showcases the, er..."Insides" rather well. o.O

Overall, I'd recommend Genocyber if you're a fan of odd sci-fi movies or ultraviolence.

Summary: Great series with bonus DVD goodies
Review: I really enjoyed the first episode of Genocyber. Great action, incredibly violent sequences. Horrifically gory in parts. High quality early 90's (pre-CGI) animation. Character design really strong -- especially the mercenary cyborgs assassins! The disc is filled with lots of goodies, but they are only accessible through your DVD-ROM drive on your PC or Mac. The DVD says PC-only, but they are just folders of JPEG and TIFF images, which any Macintosh can also read. Lots of prototype designs and pencil sketches. The DVD features english and japanese language tracks along with an english subtitle track. Be warned that the english language and english subtitles are dramatically different (especially in Episode 1). I would recommend watching it twice, or watching with both the english audio and english captioning turned on.

I think think Genocyber was written as a one episode movie. But it was so popular, they had to write more episodes. Because so much happens by the end of episode one, where does the series go? They have to push the `reset button' and start over. Episodes 2 & 3 are quite good with a few neat tie-ins to the first show. But clearly, it has a hard time measuring up to the incredible first show. By the time 4 & 5 roll around, it's almost completely off subject. As it takes place 500 years in the future, Genocyber is relagated to just taking up scenery in episode 4. The entire story suddenly shifts to two new characters. Only by episode 5, does Genocyber once again appear in any sort of meaningful way. That's one of the problems of having a character like Genocyber be so powerful. Entire cities are destroyed by the creature at the bat of an eyelash. I only wish the amazing ideas and fascinating characters presented in episode one were continued on in the series. As with each episode we have to learn a whole new cast of characters, it's difficult to build any sort of bond with them. The disc alone is worth episode one and the DVD bonus material.

Summary: Great and dark bio-tech sci-fi horror serie on DVD at last!
Review: If you like dark sci-fi stories with a bit of horror and splatter effects, with a great and strange plot that's sometimes hard to completely understand the first time you watch it... then Genocyber : The Collection is for you ! On this DVD you'll get all the 5 OAVs for a total of over 2 hours and 30 minutes of great story and animation. Be warned though that if you like easy sci-fi plots than this isn't the right stuff for you. Its plot is dark, sad and weird just like the famous Akira movie was. A great Anime serie worth buying if you like the genre. Get all of it in a single and cheap DVD.

Summary: Cool but Very Gorey and Graphic
Review: There are only four episodes ever made so the DVD is short. The story starts out interesting but after the first two episodes it gets kind of off track and splits into a separate story. If you love gore and violence you can't get much better than this one. But the story kind of lacks.

Summary: If I could, it would be a 0.
Review: This title had bad animation. It had an even worse plot. The basic storyline(oh, wait, this is the WHOLE storyline)involves two psychic sisters--one is feral, the other crippled-- joining together in this "angel"...who promptly kills as many people as the "bad guys". This doesn't contain just a "touch of ultra-violence", as the box suggests. I think the animators ran out of colors other than red. Severed arms, severed legs, severed heads, and disemboweled people are just a few of the delicacies to be found in this god-awful anime.
