Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A nice start, a great middle, but a lesser ending
Review: A note of advice: DON'T BUY DUBBED VERSIONS OF MKR!! The original subtitled version is much better from what I've heard. (Dubs also tend to be clunky...) This DVD contains the episodes 5-8, and I liked most of the episodes in this one. The artwork is colorful and the voices seem to fit each character pretty well.

In Episode...

5: Our heroes defeat a water monster and reach the legendary spring of Eterna. Here we have the fun of solving the mystery of the "line". (Quoth Ms. Fuu:"...Sen desune." Translation: It's a line.) They obtain the Escudo as expected, and at the very end, we catch a glimps of Ascot! This is an interesting episode, but it does become rather tiring after many viewings.

6 : Ascot sends Atlante, a catarpillar, to attack Presea's house. Presea starts her work on the Escudo just as Atlante arrives. What follows is a desperate and losing battle against the constantly growing monster. (Oh yes, being crushed by rocks does indeed hurt!). This was my favorite episode out of the 4.

7: Umi and Hikaru loudly proclaim their wishes into the magical orb from Ferio ("Hayaku Tokyo ni modorimasyoni FENSHING kuno daikai yusho dekimasuyo niii!" and "HIKARI AITAAAAAIIII!" Translations: 'I hope we can return to Tokyo soon. I want to be victorious at the fencing competition!' & 'I WANT TO SEE HIKARI!!!'". Meanwhile, Ferio is sitting in a tree listening to the trivial wishes! Ferio agrees to lure the Magic Knights to the desert, since ascot wants revenge after they "kiled my cute Atlante." In this episode, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu face Pagero/Pajiro, another one of Ascot's monsters.

8: This episode isn't very interesting. Hikaru finds an animal and names it Hikari, but not everything is what it seems! This episode just didn't have anything crucial in it, besides Hikaru's sword growing, but it just didn't capture my attention.

The first 3 episodes are great. It's episode 8 that lowered my rating. Overall, this is one of the better MKR anime DVD's, and although the age rating is suggested for 13 and up, episodes 5-8 are generally suitable for all ages. (Besides, what Japanese anime isn's rated 13 and up?)

Summary: Reading is good for you
Review: I recommend the manga over this. Japanese voice actors were no improvement over the english cast. The story a little fast and kinda of bland compared to the manga. Reading is good for you!
And they tell you dubs [are bad]. I'm rather disappointed in this title.

Summary: Excellent Series
Review: Rayearth is a fantastic series about three school girls, Hikari (Shining), Umi (Ocean), and Fuu (Windstorm). They are transported to a world, while on a school feildtrip, and are asked by its habitants to save their princess and their world. Our three friends are destined to become the three Magic Knights that will save this alernate world Cephiro.

This is the first disc of the memorial box being sold individually. It contains the first four episodes. In all honestly, buy the boxed set. It will save you more money.

Magic Knight Rayearth is a fantastic series which has two seasons out, and a rumored third one in the making. The art, characters, plot, and music are unforgettable. I highly suggest it.
