Summary: Amusing -- only if you like talking back to movies
Review: I saw this movie with two other people and we quickly ended up entertaining ourselves by talking back to the movie. Much of it is very typical Anime, but parts of the "plot" are very difficult to understand. There is a VERY gratuitous sex scene which did nothing for the movie -- except make us laugh even harder.

Done in three parts, the story unfolds like an over-used map, crinkled, hard to read, and full of holes at the creases.

The "hero" is a whiny creep who is the direct descendent of some alien something who comes to Earth to fight some other aliens who are declared gods by primitive humans. Ancestor dies, now occasionally takes over the high school jerk.

In part 1, a good part of the main character's town is destroyed. I do have to give credit to the movie for showing some of the after-effects of the destruction. That was a good touch in a poorly done movie.

On the good side, one of the minor characters shows backbone and we were rooting for him to win out over the main character and become the hero of the movie. The female is incredibly annoying for the first half of the movie, but she does improve, and by the end of the movie is a decent character.

I love anime. I sat through this nonsense only because I paid money for it. It rates two stars just because it is easy to ridicule.

Summary: It's out There
Review: Ok, this film was a little unusual. I'm not really into the giant monsters fighting in the city type of anime. I saw enoguh of that when I watched Godzilla as a child.

This film does however offer some positive aspects. The animation is nice, and the first part of the three part film is rather interseting. As soon as the giant creatures start having at it though, the film begins to lose its appeal.

My main dilemma when wathcing the film was trying to decide whether I was enjoying it or not. I think the relationship aspect was more interesting then the battles, which is not want you want to target in a good anime.

What this film really needed was some aliens, or to be set in the future. The creatures which were supposed to be from the past, looked like mechs, which did not make much sense.

I can't say this was the best anime I ever saw, but I would'nt call it the worst either. If you're really willing to let go of reality, you might just enjoy this film.
