Description:
The broadcast series Zone of the Enders Dolores (2001) was released with the OAV Zone of the Enders 2167 and the PlayStation2 game on which they're based. Alcoholic James Links is drawn into an interplanetary intrigue when he's attacked while transporting a mysterious cargo to Mars. He's saved by the cargo: Dolores represents a new type of mecha: huge, powerful, feminine, and even more subservient than Steel Angel Kurumi. Links's wife developed the robot for the Mars vs. Earth struggle. Links contacts his estranged son and daughter, Leon and Noel, and soon all three are fleeing both a violent criminal and a fanatic Chief Inspector. The convoluted plot is little more than a vehicle for some fairly unimpressive mecha battle scenes; the quality of the animation and designs varies from character to character and scene to scene.
