Summary: It was wicked!
Review: When I say wicked, I mean evil. This was a funny film, but some of the scenes involving Cruella De Vil are scary, and might frighten young children. Such as, when she falls in the mollasses and suddenly burts out of it roaring looking like a mud monster. The puppies are cute. They save the whole picture. Horace and Jasper are two bumbling idiots, and that Mr. Skinner character is another human monster. Glenn Close has been put through a lot in this film. If you want to disagree with me, go ahead. You'll like this film, but watch out for Cruella!

Summary: 101 Dalmatians
Review: 101 Dalmatians was a bit of a surprise to me. I usually do not go for Disney/Pixar movies (especially the new ones), but this
truly a classic.

Sound - OK

Picture - The quality of the picture (VHS) was not too great, it
was scratchy.

Movie - A+++++! This was good, and, although they spent a great deal of time outlining the characters, the story was great!

However, they DID NOT need to make two new sequels with Glenn Close. I saw the first one in theaters and it was horrible and I'm sure "102 Dalmatians" is just as bad.

Summary: Fast-moving film in a new style
Review: The technical innovation of "Xerography" is on prominent display in this film, the first animated feature to use the process. As a result, this film looks very different from previous Disney efforts; character designs are looser and more caricatured, with solid, detailed draftsmanship. The backgrounds, consisting of black lines and flat areas of color, are carefully crafted pop-art masterpieces that possess an almost abstract beauty. From the scrawny, angular form of villainess Cruella de Vil, to the hundreds of individually designed, black-and-white spotted puppies, the visual design of this film is extremely sophisticated -- unmatched, I think, by any mainstream animated feature before or since.

For _101 Dalmatians_ Disney opted to throw out the strict photorealism of earlier films, and in doing so pushed the artistic barrier of animation. Had Disney decided to pursue this approach further, this film could have had as great an impact on animation as UPA's shorts of the '50s. Still, even as a one-shot deal, this witty, graphically savvy effort is a major achievement.

The DVD is short on extras, but what's there, as they say, is "cherce." The video transfer is full-frame and flawless; audio is solid throughout. The English subtitle feature (ostensibly for the hard-of-hearing) reveals the unexpected complexity of the film's dialogue, which is peppered with local slang and obscure but amusing in-jokes.

I have some abc news you will want to hear:

Of am man in captivity who has been arested.
We are a report of London zoo & this is Tim Ryan reporting to you on abc news.

Oh isn't that horrible!

This is just make believe.

The 101 Dalmatians video I loved ever!!!!!!!!!

Well, the first thing is, I always think about & when I always think about is when I see Yanish rope his calf and I know Yansih got good enough to win. And when Yanish ropes his calf in the rodeo at The National Finals in Las, Vegas he uses a second loop incase he misse's his first rope and he tied his calf up.

This is just pretend on abc news.

Horace (Mark Williams) & Jasper (Hugh Laurie) are the bad guys who steel the puppies!

I loved the video!

Summary: "Excellent in every way..."
Review: Delightful Disney film remains one of his best, although critics seem to disagree. Set in London with very different tone than many other Disney films. Excellent in every way, with a winning script and marvelous characters. Cruella Deville is a more than memorable villian, and is much more menacing than most Disney baddies.

Summary: BEWARE- Not For Easily Scared Children.
Review: While I thought the animated old version was adorable and funny, this remake is far from that..........I bought this video for my daughter when she was 4, and after watching it, she became upset for months about Cruella and scary robbers. This movie gave her her first nightmares, even though we hadn't even finished the film. While we were watching, she started to get tears in her eyes. I asked her if I should shut it off, and she said yes. She saw enough dark gloomy scenes in the castle, evil dialogue from the robbers, and Cruella talking about smashing the puppies heads in and skinning them to traumatize her for quite awhile............I was so angry about this being considered a movie suitable for all ages, that I e-mailed Disney with my angry thoughts. No response. I read a review of one parent saying they watch this repeatedly with a 18 month old and he loves it. Beware, he is responding only to the visual stimuli, not absorbing the plot. An older child between 3 and 8 might find this quite frightening. ..................Disney movies aren't necessarily heartwarming or innocent. Everyone loves a great villain, but when they are played by real people and not cartoons, a young child WILL find them frightening. There's too much violence and cruelty in 101 Dalmatians, and this film should only be for children over 8. By that time, they have a better understanding of reality and fantasy. No matter how bright, (my daughter is gifted), below the age of 8, their emotions are not ready for this film. ...............As much as Cruella is a great character, can't deny that...she's not for the young and impressionable. Know what you are showing your child ahead of time if you have any reservations about possible inappropriate content by previewing alone first. I learned the hard way, but worst of all, my daughter didn't have to if I'd known. Robbers, stealing, killing, assaulting and gloom are not pleasant at any age, but for your child? Consider this carefully, also factor in your childs age and temperament before allowing this "Disney Classic" onto your roster.

Summary: Good not great film
Review: As with the 1961 original, this was a good film only for Cruella. I am no fan of Glenn Close, but she was perfect in the part. Disappointed it did not have extras but glad to get it letter box.

Summary: Good film & disc
Review: Not the best Disney film. What makes it for me is Cruella. Great character. Too bad for such a high price disc there is only the trailer as an extra. Disney needs to put extras on all their discs, especially when they ask a price like that. Great picture quality, though.

Summary: Totally Pointless!
Review: I remember seeing 101 Dalmatians back when it was first released in 1996, and I was sure I'd enjoyed it. What bought back the memories was seeing a review of it in a magazine, so, I decide to go and rent it from the video store. Well, second time round, 101 Dalmatians was a a total let-down and I think I must of been drunk to like it the original time I'd seen it.

Glenn Close is very watchable in her fall-into-bucket-of-poo state, but the rest of the team are largely miscast in roles which have put cheesier smiles on their face than you can imagine. The dogs are pretty cool, as they are in the sequel, but this film remains entirely pointless, it's just the dogs doing exactly what the animated one's did, except they don't speakm, and Cruella been a touch more likeable than in the Disney version.

Sometimes entertaining, but unnecessary and annoying.
