Rating: Summary: What a truly unique and original idea Review: As always my reviews are super short and don't contain any spoilers. GTO is a comedy about a ex-gangsta who becomes a teacher and uses his experience and unique perspectives on life to truly inspire and breathe new life into many of his students. GTO is a hilarious show and I most definitely could not give it less than 5 stars.

In this first dvd you'll see how even against all odds...he still comes out on top. Eikichi has only one goal...to become the greatest teacher in Japan. This anime series is definitely one of the most funniest and has one of the most brilliantly written storylines out of the many that are out there. You can't go wrong with this series I promise. So what are you waiting for? Get started now and see just why Eikichi calls himself G T O!
Rating: Summary: Onizuka has simple needs... Review: Eikicki Onizuka is a 22 year old ex-biker who needs a job and likes girls. So getting a job as a high school teacher seemed to be the best way to do both. But, unfortunately, things are not as simple or as easy as he may wish. Just getting the job is at Holy Forest Academy is tough enough, but the kids there are bullies and blackmailers, while some of his colleagues are almost as perverted as he is.
Very funny, but very much for older teens. Five episodes, with extras including original sketches, original Japanese opening, and, of course, previews.
With the Voice Actors of Wendee Lee (YEAH!) and Crispin Freeman it really helped me to enjoy the start of this series. I HAVE to get the next few discs to see what happens and how it develops.
Rating: Summary: Onizuka blows 'em away! Review: From the moment this starts it's a treat. It has great animation, a great story and Great Teacher Onizuka, the most comical person ever in the history of TV and film. This Volume is the start of the story and from the outset the misadventures of Eikichi Onizuka, 22 years old, are laugh a minute as he tries to become a teacher. Volume 1 contains 4 episodes, the first of which is a double episode, and each episode is better than the last. The only problem is the fact that as soon as it ends, you wish you had the second one, it's the same problem with the manga. Amazing!
Rating: Summary: An Exceptional Anime Review: GTO is a wonderful anime. As soon as I saw the first couple of episodes, I knew I was hooked. The story is so funny. The characters are so wonderfully developed. You get to learn a lot about the personality of Onizuka Eikichi (22 years old ^_^) by watching the actions he takes. This is not a typical anime. GTO is one of the first anime's which I found EXTREMELY funny. It brings a smile to my face and at least one loud laugh with every episode. There are also some dramatic moments as well, such as some student's who try to committ suicide. Onizuka's "fantasies" are also quite entertaining to watch. When I first started watching this anime, I had no idea what to expect going in. After seeing the first 17 episodes, I can safely say that this is definetly in my top 10 anime series of all time. Watch this and I guarantee, you will not be dissappointed. The subs by Tokyopop were right on, and never once failed to please. My only gripe is that it's going to be september 2003 before the whole series finally gets released on dvd in the US. Even though it's only volume 1, a great buy. The series only continues to get better with each episode ^_^!
Rating: Summary: The manga is better. Bad sound. Review: I am a great admirer of animation. I can also see when it just isn't enough. Quality over qantity was what they were going for. The comic book seris of GTO was amazing. Fast paced, great drawings, hysterical. I had waited years for the animated version to arrive here. During its transition onto the screen something was lost. The live action version that aired in japan was at times more entertaining. Boring. I recommend the comic. Another thing that really bothered me was the lack of dolby sound! I don't think im asking too much. Maybe my expectations were too high.
Rating: Summary: "No giant robots, no magical powers...just kick a** anime!" Review: I didn't know quite what to expect when my boyfriend bought the first three volumes of GTO for our personal collection. At first I was apprehensive, I was used my Gundams and Goddesses. But I soon found that the animation plus the characters, references to other animes, and the english voices (voices from Coboy Bebop) really pulled together to create a really awesome, off-beat show.
Rating: Summary: If only Onizuka was a real teacher! Review: I first heard of GTO over half a year ago when a friend of mine came across one of the Manga's. After I read it I was immediately hooked. And when I found out later on that there was an anime series based on it, I was very interested. So I went and bought the Hong Kong DVD's of the series (Hong Kong DVD's have the option of English subtitles on them.)Great Teacher Onizuka is a Comedy/Drama series and is 44 episodes long. The series is about Eikichi Onizuka, a 22 year old man that is an Ex-gang leader that decides he wants to become a teacher. His main drive for this? So he can be around young School girls. Sound promising doesn't it ^__^? When Onizuka truly begins his teaching career he finds that the class he teaches has had a problem with teachers not lasting to long because most of the students have it in for all teachers because of something that happened in the past ( Which I shall not mention.) Right from day one Onizuka has to deal with problems from the students in his class. His first real problem has to do with phony pictures being made of him, which he deals with in a way that surprises the culprit and eventually wins him over to Onizuka's side. As the series goes on Onizuka will have to deal with many more problems, as well as attempts to make him lose his job. And as he deals with these problems he wins more and more of the students to his side. I felt that all of the characters were done very well. Both the good and the bad ones. The main Character Onizuka is almost impossible not to like and has some of the funniest facial expressions I've ever seen on any anime character. And I couldn't help but like most of the other characters. Here are some of my personal favorites. Azusa Fuyutsuki: She is a fellow teacher that begins teaching at the same time Onizuka does and she makes for a very believable love interest for Onizuka. Kikuchi(Sorry I can't remember his full name.): This guy is the genius in the class. It's very hard to say exactly why I like him, except that he is a very cool looking character and that he was the first to really understand Onizuka. Urumi Kanzaki: My personal favorite character in the whole series and the one that I feel has the most interesting personality. She is a blond haired girl with Two different colored eyes and an IQ of over 200 making her smarter than even Kikuchi and all of the teachers in the school. When she first appears she poses many problems, and not just for Onizuka. Mainly due to her high intelligence she makes the teachers feel insignificant because she knows more than they do. And even when Onizuka finally wins her over, she still stays pretty much the same. Despite the fact that I read the manga before the anime and saw that there were a fair amount of differences between the two I still like the anime a whole lot. Here are few differences. In the manga Onizuka deals with the picture incident a lot more swifly. And in anime one of the characters that appears early on in the Manga doesn't appear till over halfway through the series and her role is completely different. And lastly, when Onizuka challenges Kunio in the arcade in the Manga he destroys him at every single game there is there. The music is also used very well and always works to fit the mood. My favorite tune is the 1st opening music "Driver's High". If you like anime at all I suggest you at least give this one a try because it's something a bit different than you might expect.
Rating: Summary: Onizuka is so funny and a Great Teacher! Review: I first thought that this was going to be a tough guy movie about a great martial arts teacher. I was surprised by what I saw when I looked at the actual series. At first I didn't like it because Onizuka seemed so stupid and ridiculous. But as I followed the series out I realized that there was more to Onizuka than I thought. He is sooo funny! I was laughing the whole way through. There's action and good lessons to be learned from Onizuka. I really came to love this series which was surprising to me. Onizuka is a great teacher in his own right. His personality is like no other you will see. He looks great but isn't afraid to look like an idiot or a clown at times. But when he gets angry it gets a little scary. This series is also unique in how it approaches the subject of becoming a teacher and actually finding fun in dealing with problem kids. Onizuka wants more than anything to be a teacher. At first it's just for the girls but he comes to realize it's not just the girls although the girls are a good bonus 'cause according to him they're hot!!! But he also wants to make a difference in the lives of other kids that are just the way he used to be. He doesn't want any of them to feel like trash or be called trash like he was when he was younger. Onizuka makes teaching seem fun and full of new adventures everyday! This is an anime to watch and treasure! Onizuka is a Great Teacher!!
Rating: Summary: Something different but good Review: I had been watching action anime for so long (10 yrs old and watch DBZ). Now, i'm 18 and GTO is the first none action anime i had watched, and I was glad that I made the right choice. I was laughing from the very beginning. The art is not like Cowboy Bebop or DBz but it has a mature look to it (lines on faces), but it gets funny when onizuka snaps. The formula of the story (i'm basing this on the 1st DVD) is Onizuka helping students who have short comings. He helps them on his own way which is not a "boy scout" way. A good anime but not for the younger viewers. The language and comedy are mostly for adults. I recommend this anime to people who likes something different or just want a good laugh.
