Summary: Every library needs a copy - hauntingly beautiful
Review: The Velveteen Rabbit, and his timeless message about the meaning of love, is a marvellous children's book which every adult should re-read. It never fails to move and enchant me. This edition is especially suited as a gift book.

Summary: ...
Review: There is definately a touch of sadness to "The Velveteen Rabbit," and yet there is a lot of joy, too. Margery Williams manages to tap into our emotions to make us feel the scope of the different feelings presented.

Yes, we feel sad when the rabbit is tossed in the trash to get burned. Sure, we feel awkward when two real rabbits ask where his hind legs are. But does that not make his final transformation that much better?

That is set up in the begining discussion with Skin Horse, who says, "When you are real, you don't mind being hurt." REAL is the ultimate. It's what you strive for. Yes, there will be pain but that will be followed by joy.

Read this classic and learn from it.

(Also reccomended is Hoban's "The Mouse and His Child" and "The Velveteen Priciples: A Guide To Becoming Real" by Toni Raiten-D'Antonio.)

Summary: I still love this book...I always will
Review: These are the days of Sony Playstation 2 and Harry Potter, activites that do not really ever try to tell a great story that also gives a lesson without being preachy.

The Velveteen Rabbit is heartwrenchingly beautiful. The Rabbit who yearns to be Real and whose love for the boy was unconditional is both imaginative and sad. I cannot read this book without a lump coming to my throat and being transported to simpler days when the love of a toy was the greatest thing in the whole world.

This is a book with an ending that is mixed, that touches on the ambiguity of life and loss. But there is also hope of a new beginning. And I think children can understand that and grow from it.

I cherish this book deeply.

Summary: Still a favorite, and a classic.
Review: This book has always been a favorite of mine. Whenever a friend has a new baby, I buy this book for them as I hope to pass on some of it's sunshine. Beautiful, timeless.

Summary: A must read for ALL ages!
Review: This book is a must read for all ages. I also sincerely recommend it for the more "mature" reader. There is a wonderful tale of being loved and and learning that not being needed anymore doesn't mean you aren't or never were loved or needed. Again excellent book for all ages. Expecially for the "kid" inside all of us adults. It will bring that feeling of childlike play and wonder back to your mind. Don't just give it to your child. Read it to them, with them, and do it more than once. Becoming real, is real, honest, and fun for all ages!

Summary: An extremely touching book
Review: This book is a simple work of art. Its beauty in itself is virtually indescribable. When I was little, it was my favorite book. In fact, I've had it ever since I was born. It is about a boy who owns a stuffed rabbit, and longs for it to be real. Eventually, because he loved the rabbit so much, his wish was granted. The book is so well written that it brings tears to my eyes almost every time I read it. It is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: The Veleveteen Rabbit
Review: This book was one of my favorites growing up and as I got older I understood that being real is being loved. I read this to my adopted daughter to help her understand that even though I didn't give birth to her, she is our "REAL" daughter beacuse we lover her. I also gifted this to a friend of mine who also has an adopted child, to help her child understand it as well.

May every child and parent have the wonderful experience of sharing this story together and all the smiles and joy reading it brings.

Summary: A classic story, wonderful for any generation, kid or adult.
Review: This is a classic tale of bunny who wishes to become real. With a little nursery magic and love, wonderful things can happen. This particular copy (Illustrated by Tien Ho) is my favorite because it is the copy that I grew up with. It is a great story to read to your child to show them the values that really matter in life. It is my favorite story and I will continue to read it to my children.

Summary: The most inspirational story that I've ever read.
Review: This is a heartwarming story about a toy rabbit filled with sawdust that wants to be real. He realizes what the meaning of "real" is when his owner, a young boy, gives him the answer for which he searches. My wife bought this book for me last month. I missed it as a child. I've learned the lesson in this book in traditional ways, by trial and error. I would have loved to have this treasure as a child and thank my beautiful wife, Lori, for giving it to me, now. Only real love has any meaning or longevity, at all. I ask you readers to not pass up this gem of a book. It is a must for children and adults alike.
