Summary: Best so far...
Review: Well well. This is an awesome DVD & video!! It's got tonz of fan fave parts too. For instance the very first time Meiling shows up! If you liked (even the slightest bit) the episodes when Sakura & her pals go to the beach or the one where Meilin arrived in english, You'l be fascenated by seeing them in japanese!! The cards captured on this DVD & VHS are: Erase, glow, move & fight. And for dubbies just wondering about this one, BUY IT!! You won't be dissapointed. Or if you're a dubbie wanting to view the REAL time Meiling showed up, this is the one for you!

Summary: And then came Meilin...
Review: Well, it was sort of a long wait, but this disc was DEFINITELY worth it! For now we know what really happened when Meilin arrived!

For this disc's first offering, an episode that made the dub - the capturing of the Erase card while the kids are at Outdoor Studies(read: Summer Camp). There's a small scene at the front with Kero complaining about the heat in Sakura's room, but otherwise what we see in the dub was basically what happened in the Japanese. (Remember: Some dialogue changes are unavoidable due to that amzing thing called LIP MOVEMENT!!)

Second up, the gang's off to a small street fair/festival, in kimonos!! (Except Li, the kimonos I mean.) The capture of the Glow card is secondary to the fun of Li and Toya having a Ring Booth battle to get a bunny for Sakura(and..Yukito).

Third on the agenda, the capture of the Move card, which jumps into a book that both Sakura AND Li need for a book report, leading them on a merry game of "Catch Me If You Can!" At the end of the episode Meilin makes her hysterical entrance, arriving at Li and Wei(the guy who's looking after him while he's here, and now Meilin as well[that's right, the rest of their families stayed in Hong Kong, as apposed to the commentary of Meilin's father being transferred in the dub!])'s apartment. The timing is especially interesting as Sakura and Tomoyo are present when she arrives(you'll have to watch to find out why.), and she is not at all pleased to find two other girls in Li's home! Especially when one is wearing...well, like I said, buy it and find out for yourself.

For our final offering, another ep. that made the dub, the capture of the Fight card. The Japanese version is way worth it, as we have a scene deleted from the dub wherein Sakura recalls how Meilin "asked" her and Tomoyo to leave her and Li's apartment after the end of the previous episode. And let's get one thing clear here: Meilin and Li are cousins, and (as I understand it from other sources, subject to change with later discs) Meilin is Li's fiancee by parental arrangement! She even states this rather emphatically to Sakura in this episode when she's introduced to the class!

I laughed til I died, then was resucitated and laughed some more! Let the next one come!

Summary: Explanation for this release
Review: What happened was there was some diagreement with the licensor, something about the subtitled releases being too close to the dubbed episodes seen on TV, so they deemed the subtitled versions to be a disincentive for consumers who bought dubbed, but then turned to subtitled -or- subtitled sales is draining sales of the dubbed dvds. So this was their solution, to stagger the release of the fourth volume until the episodes in that subtitled volume is shown on TV.

Summary: Cardcaptors is excellent!
Review: Words just don't do justice to how great this series is. I have watched tons of japanese animation and read scores of manga and of them all this show is my favorite. Now lest you say, "This guy clearly only likes kiddie anime." I have to say that I watch everything from Blood to Eva. This still is my favorite! It's just an amazing show. If you like anime you should at least give it a try.

Summary: It's volume 5 instead of volume 4, but what difference?
Review: Yes, it's volume 5 instead of volume 4. So what? The series *does* consist mainly of filler episodes, after all. Please buy this to show Pioneer that even with volume 4 being delayed until after volumes 5 and 6, this excellent show still has strong support.
