Rating: Summary: Absolutely incredible! Beautiful music, exquisite animation Review: For decades, I have been interesting in computer-synthesized music as well as computer graphics and animation. At SIGGRAPH 2001, "Pipe Dreams" was shown at the Electronic Theater. Hands down, it was THE best short animation at the show. I visited their URL, pre-ordered their DVD, and received it. WOW. Absolutely awesome. If you like computer graphics or you like rockin music with a computer-synthesized style, you will love this! My college room-mate had a weird 10-string instrument called the "Stick" that he hammered with his thumbs, and this instrument actually showed up in one of the pieces on the DVD. The commentary on the DVD is very informative, and the still views and camera angles are very cool! This is a MUST BUY DVD!!!

Rating: Summary: unimpressive Review: I bought this dvd after reading the glowing reviews posted on this site. I should perhaps have noticed the dates, as the visuals are far from impressive and in fact dissapointing. The music is cheesy and simple. I suppose the visuals may have been impressive when first released, but their is nothing extraordinary about this in 2003. Not at all worth the $20 price tag

Rating: Summary: Animusic (includes Pipe Dream) Review: Impressive and Astounding are two words that really aren't big enough to express my feelings. A MUST SEE FOR THE CGI/MIDIMUSIC LOVER! BRAVO, BRAVO! I can't wait until the next Album. The vision (and audision (is that a word?)) has tickled my eyes and ears! You will NOT be disappointed by this work. My first experience with ANIMUSIC is from "Computer Animation Showcase" ("Title Track" and "Beyond the Walls"). Another MUST SEE.
Rating: Summary: I can hear it yelling "BUY ME NOW!" and you should LISTEN!!! Review: In a personal contact to Wayne Lytle, one of the creators of Animusic, I said "All I can say is WOW!" This is an EXCELLENT work of digital art! It is, as the title suggests, animated music. It has seven short segments in it, and each one has a different theme. ... The animation is absolutely flawless, and the music is full of rhythm and very hypnotizing in a couple particular singles. One particular segment, entitled "Pipe Dream," actually won Mr. Lytle an award at an international animation expo of some sort. This is a MUST HAVE for any video collection, and is a great gift idea for anybody -- there is something for everyone here.

Rating: Summary: Tripping the Light Fantastic Review: My whole family sit transfixed to this DVD time and time again. The animation is of high quality and is full of interest. The music is well chosen and offers a varied orchestration, through the seven pieces comprising the album. The animation of the instruments is fantastic, being dynamic and fluid. You can see drums 'thump', strings vibrate and horns and pipes 'blow'. Other instruments are altogether more 'imaginative', and everything is fun to watch. On most pieces, the instruments belong to recognisable families, perhaps with one or two interesting 'twists'. The final piece however, being a more 'ethereal' musical number, dispenses with most of the ties to traditional instrumentation and allows itself a little 'experimentation', but with great effect. Animusic mixes the fascination of watching 'complicated machines', the musical contraptions, with the appeal of watching good performance art. While there are no human 'players', the machines have a wonderful grace and feel completely organic. The whole thing possesses a definite beauty and leaves you wanting more. I was introduced to Animusic through watching 'Pipe Dream' on the web (after it had featured at SIGGRAPH). This piece alone was compelling enough to buy the album as soon as it became available, but in the end three other pieces from the album feature as my equal favourites - a tribute to the appeal of the album both musically and visually. I thoroughly recommend this DVD and I'll be looking out for future Animusic albums!
