Summary: A Monster Hit
Review: This wonderful, funny film is one of the best family features in a long time. Many over the past few years still seem to push in some questionable language and body function humor. But, this film is indeed unique. Great performances by BILLY CRYSTAL (Who turned down the role of Buzz Lightyear, something he later regretted) and JOHN GOODMAN keep even the adults entertained. There is plenty in the film for all ages without pandering. Thats a hard line to walk but it is done with panache. Where it falls short of its TOY STORY ancestry is in its search for HEART. Only in the end does the film emotionally grab you. And so, the film plays to a younger crowd. But the concepts and a visit toe "HARRYHAUSEN'S" sushi bar are obviously aimed at older kids. There is a great movie short on the head of the film called FOR THE BIRDS on the front... That alone is worth the price of admission. Watch the toy aisles...

Summary: "MONSTERS, INC." will scare up a treat for audiences
Review: Delightful, uproarious, fun, hilarious, cute and cuddly, jovial... Just a few of the numerous "happy" adjectives you could pin on Pixar's latest pixilated masterpiece "Monsters, Inc." Pixar once again proves itself Disney's most valuable asset with their knack for original stories and often witty and clever humor.

John Goodman and Billy Crystal provide their trademark voices for Sully, the big blue furry monster, and Mike, the cycloptic short green monster as they scare up kids' screams which are converted to energy to power the televisions and alarm clocks of the monster metropolis. (Seems very allegorical of the California power outages this past summer, no?) Conflict brews when Randall, the gecko-like monster, gets greedy and wants to become the top "scarer" by exploiting the screams of the innocent human child, yet show-stealing cute, Boo. While kids might get lost in the action of the movie, the CGI effects and clever Laurel and Hardy-esque slapstick of Sully and Mike (or Lenny and George, which ever way you want to look at it) will have the kiddies captivated from beginning to end.

While Dreamwork's box office baby "Shrek" may have just as good edgy, clever humor and depth, Pixar is far from being out of the running. Keep in mind, Pixar is already a veteran with "Toy Story 1 & 2" (with a third on the way), and "A Bug's Life". There's no doubt in my mind that Pixar and Dreamwork's will be at the helm of the fully computer animated feature for years to come. May the best company win!

For the time being, strap yourself in for the first in some great holiday flicks coming to the silver screen near you! "Monsters, Inc." is already off and running to box office gold, and is a wholly satisfying and entertaining movie for kids, parents, and "Average Joe" movie critics alike.

My daughter and I will be bringing Mathew to see it today.

Summary: Surprisingly Great Movie!
Review: You will laugh, the kids might cry, then laugh, but - with Monsters, Inc. - everyone should have a powerful good time. This is a surprisingly great film about life as the monster who hides in the closet (or under the bed) and it really impressed me. There is, of course, more to the story than that, it being another love-child from the creators of the Toy Story series and A Bugs Life. However, I insist that you see this one yourself. Go without expectations. Lose yourself and laugh; be amazed at the fun of this movie.

If nothing else, go for the Star Wars trailer.

Summary: Pixar Tugs at Your Heart
Review: Pixar studios, once again, has a hit on their hands. This comedy, staring Billy Crystal and John Goodman, could not have been better. Goodman and Crytal give life to the lead characters with such vivid detail that you are sucked into believing that these monsters are nothing more than sweet, lovable playthings! The jokes are quick which keeps the pace of the movie from being too heavy handed. I was really entertained with so many subtle references to other movies; I hope other movie-goers catch it all! But I was surprised at how easily my tears flowed and how I could relate to "Sully" as he slowly changes into a caring "Monster". Little Boo is just too cute for words. I was very entertained by the whole notion of monster coming out of the closet and turning into huggable sweethearts. My 17 year old daughter, who is mentally retarded, enjoyed this movie very much because it spoke to her heart, too!

Summary: Monsters, Inc. is FABULOUS!!!
Review: A movie for all ages! My 62 year old hubby and I delighted in seeing Monsters, Inc. as did our 22 year old nephew and his girlfriend! We all left the theater with grins on our faces and would gladly see this movie over and over! The animation is amazing, the voices are so much fun, the "extras" are more creative than the one before. Will purchase the DVD when it comes out for not only the story line but also to view the "extras" in the background with the sound turned off. Billy Crystal and John Goodman are hysterically funny and also ever so touching...they make the characters truly come alive!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Clever as heck.
Review: If you have kids, it's a good excuse to go see this well done and very clever movie. They have created characters here that you have to love. Even though you find you reminding yourself that they aren't real. However, the movie is predictable and Billy Crystal is not nearly as funny as he can be. John Goodman does a much better job with his character. Still, the affects are perfect, the characters are believable and the movie is worth the price of admission.
