Summary: THE ONLY REASON EVERYBODY LOVES THIS IS BECAUSE ITS DISNEY
Review: Disney is sliding down the ladder of success so fast it probably has splinters in its back side. Disney is L-o-o-o-ong past it's stride. The last decent film they came out with was the amazing FANTASIA 2000. But the classic animation films like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are a thing of the past. There seemed to be hope when PIXAR came into the picture (TOY STORY 1 AND 2, A BUGS LIFE). We were let down with Atlantis. But now, we are also let down with Monsters INC. First of all, I want to say that the first 30 minutes of this film were spectacluar! I found myself nonstop smiling at this whole world of monster's that is so much like are own. I must have looked pretty goofy with that grin plastered on my face, but, that wouldn't be a problem in the next ten minutes. I started to be let down. The story became much, much too dramatic with the whole little girl thing. ("boo" was her name if i'm not mistaken) The movie bounced back and forth between "funny" humor and dramatic scenes "boo" being "scared" and it got old all too soon. It couldn't decide whether it wanted to be comedy or drama. With Toy Story this wasen't a problem! And there is a lot of "dramatic" stuff in that movie. But they took it to the max with M. INC. It wanted to be like SHREK, but with a classic DISNEY appeal. Then with all the sliding doors at the end, it became too crazy. (though the part with all the sliding doors had amazing animation) Then when the movie was all worked out and boo back in her own world and the monsters in theirs and the door shreded, THEY BLEW IT! DISNEY JUST HAAAAAD TO GO FOR THE GOLDEN HAPPY ENDING. They just couldn't bear to have a "sad" ending and let the audience leave the theater the least bit "sad". Then when they went for that ending, with the door put back together, they didn't even bother to complete it!!! The movie just faded out! Having that happy ending contradicted the movie. It would be like in the LION KING, having MUFASA come back to life at the end and be like, "hello Simba!! believe in yourself!", and then fading out. Despite all the stunningly shocking animation in this film, espically with the snow melting in the fur of Sully in the Artic scene, and boo's ponytails bouncing as if they were real, the movie falls flat on its face after the first half-hour. The only reason people like this is becaus Disney marketed it, sold it, and once again people bought it. Come on Disney...make some more quality animation, with PIXAR or doing the traditional hand drawn way. The next animated picture coming out is in JUNE 2002. I saw the previews with some blue creature from space, and I'm not going to even bother to see it. It looks completely idoitic. Back in the 1940's Walt Disney struggled to make movies. He was poor as a mouse, so to speek. He would put every last dime and sliver of time he had to make his movies. Now with the Disney empire, headed over by tryant Micheal Isner, they have become greedy and selfish. Mr. Isner rears his ugly head again...Walt would be so ashamed to have his name on this company, and to see what it has come to today. Its very, very sad...

Summary: One of the greatest movies of all time
Review: This is one of the greatest movies ever made, it got humor, action and a lot of heart. I put this one right up with "The Iron Giant" (one of the most underrated animated films of all the times and also one of the best, a higlhly recommended movie for the whole family). Pixar has do it again, first with the Toy Story movies and now with Monsters Inc., my only complain is that the movie is over and there is going to be a long time till Monsters Inc. 2. You just got to love the characters and their progression trough the movie, it's not only a great development for each one, but also a big lesson for everybody, we're talkin' about overcoming our fears and learning to follow our hearts. From Sully to Mike, from their exposure to Boo, the monsters learn the truth about human childs (they're not toxic!!!) and they even develop a real afecttion for the little girl, even when they have been told that human children are a dangerous lot and must be keep out of range and out of their world; all the while trashin' a greedy plan and expousin' a conspiracy. And for Boo, the little girl is havin' so much fun as only a pure heart can have, but she also have her monster (Randall), and even being so small, she learns to overcome her fears when his beloved "Kitty" is in danger, showin' us that there is no age for the brave. From the perfect animation (the eyes of Sully speaks a lot), to the voice work of everybody involved in the film (Goodman, Crystal, Buscemi and specially the voice of BOO), this is a really perfect movie, it's got the kind of humor and action that everybody can enjoy, but mostly it got heart without being silly.
I can view this movie with my children over and over and never became tire. If you want to enjoy a truly modern fairy tale, look no further than Monsters Inc., go now, so you can say: "I was there when they put that masterpiece out", I know I was.

Summary: Another Disney-type family treat...
Review: This movie was just supberb. I enjoyed it, my mother and cousin did, and so did my four year old second cousin. If you're a fan of Disney or claymated features, you will absolutely LOVE Monsters, Inc. no matter how old you are (even teenagers should get a kick out of it even if some of the cynical ones think they're too old for it). And I will be very impressed when I see this movie come out on video (hopefully DVD)!

Review: I thought that Monsters. Inc was a very cute and original movie. Maybe a little scary for small children but it shows adults that little children have unique fears and maybe some of them are justifiable. I loved and so did my husband we can't wait to buy it to have in our own collection.

Summary: A Different Animal than Shrek
Review: This film was compared continuously with the movie Shrek, which I think was unfair to a degree. I loved Shrek - I laughed as hard as anyone in the theater. But Monsters Inc would be my pick BY FAR. Shrek had bold and blatent sarcasm. Monsters, Inc has heart. You'll laugh, sure, but you'll also care about the characters with an emotional connection Shrek just couldn't achieve with me. If for a moment your mind drifts from the story, you'll be amazed with the sheer beauty of the movie - each hair on Scully, the levels of doors, the gleem in Boo's eyes... the PIXAR animation is pure brilliance. As most Disney movies, the plot and script have many layers, making it entertaining for adults and children as well. It's a fantastic movie, and I can't wait for the DVD to come out!

Summary: Fantastic entertainment for kids AND adults
Review: I don't have kids, but if I did, I'd love to take them to this film. I have seen it twice... once with a friend and once I treated my parents and took them... they are in their 60's and got a kick out of it. I love the latest advances in computer animation and you will be blown away by the quality of everything you see. If you see this in the theater, get there early... Pixar has a short film (as they did in Toy Story and Toy Story 2) before the film and it is adorable and highly entertaining skit with animated birds sitting on a telephone line... I can't wait to get this film on DVD. Mike (the green guy with one big eye... Billy Crystal) and Sulley (the blue shag carpet - John Goodman) are best friends and partners at Monsters, Inc., the only power plant that supplies power for cars, lights and everything electric where the monsters live. In this very clever tale, you quickly learn the source of power for Monstropolis comes from the screams of frightened children... which is the explaination for why monsters hid under your bed when you were a kid. I don't want to give away the best parts or concepts of the film, but film buffs should pay attention... there are lots of hidden gags, statements and props here and there... some of which I picked up the second time I saw the film. The animators and story writers put amazing details in every square inch of the screen... very cute, humorous and clever things show up or are even minor and in the background... and when you see the "making of the movie" featurettes on other discs like "Toy Story," you realize how many weeks, months and years these folks labored to add the little nuances that some viewers will simply miss or not even appreciate. I wish Pixar would work on several of these types of films so there would be more available. Family safe enterainment that is not only non-corrupting, but a treat for adults and kids at the same time... although there will be scenes in which adults and kids will be laughing at totally different things. As fantastic as the animation is, it would be nothing without a story, and the story is original and very clever. My hat is off to those at Pixar... they should all get Oscars for the revolutionary techniques they have made available to the film industry. Each year, the Academy has ceremonies that are not televised along with the more popular "Best Actor" and "Best Film" categories. Apple (another Steve Jobs founded company, like Pixar) won an Emmy last year for their invention of FireWire and how it revolutionized TV editing, etc... it's only a matter of time before these new animation techniques, coupled with fantastic stories begin to get Oscar nods for scientific and technological breakthroughs in the film industry.

Review: I have seen many trailers, and read much about 'Monsters Inc.', it looks much better than the first 'Toy Story' movie, and 'A Bugs Life'.
'Monsters Inc.' got the well deserved 'Oscar' nomination for 'Best Picture - Animated Picture'.
It's one of those years animated movies not to be missed, take your whole family to the cinema, and be prepared for many good scares and laughs!

Summary: Something in the Dark >**<
Review: What a way to make you remember your childhood fears of the closet monster, not to mention those creepy creatures you just knew were under your bed. While the movie was hillarious to the point I hardly remember not laughing, the humor is very adult and I doubt kids will get most of it. Something was a bit disturbing about the doors getting mixed up, the children screaming when scared to produce electricity and the children being a threat to the monster world. However, that is basically what the movie is about. There is one scene which I think will scare very young children and includes a child being put forced to scream into a scream capturing device. There is a very evil monster in this movie that gave me the creeps. The animation is spectacular and might be the best I have yet to see personally. Boo is a delight and Mike and Sulley steal the show. Sulley's fur is amazing in animation. Actually everything in this movie is animation heaven. Irresponsibly rated G. This is NOT for children.
