hats off to nick park and aardman for creating one of the best or should i say THE BEST animated film ever made!!!this dvd, comprising of all three adventures, is a must see and must have for everyone!!

Summary: best aninimation i've seen in years
Review: THe quality of these stories is simply fabulous. On one level, they are just really really fun to watch and full of laughs, but on a deeper they parody whole genres of film. I have seen these levels because my kids just can't get enough of these: they watch them over and over and I keep laughing right along with them. You can tell that these are truly fine works of craft rather than the usual medicore fare from Hollywood, which feel more and more like factory commodities. This stuff is truly original and shows that the only thing that holds back great art is the motivation to remove all barriers to do it! Warmly recommended for children and adults.

Summary: simply great
Review: If you don't know about Wallace and Gromit, well it's a pity. The series is limited to few episodes, but they are gems in their genre. Do kids love it? yes they do a lot. Maybe the British accent and setup make these movies more imaginative and fantastic than any other movie for children that I've ever seen.
My daughter is 2 and she prefers Wallace and Gromit to Chicken Run. Their episodes are shorter and fit kids' ability of concentration. The stories have several layers and can make happy kids of all ages and can be replayed several times because there is always something they have missed. Overall a great set of short movies. It's a shame there isn't a larger supply of such movies.

Summary: Muddy sound quality
Review: The original short cartoons by Nick Park are, of course, excellent. But the quality of this DVD does not do them justice. One of the main reasons people buy DVD's is for the excellent sound and picture quality. However, on this DVD, the sound is so muddy you can barely understand the dialogue. (The picture is fine.) Also, the Closed-captioning is hideous. I tried watching with the closed-captioning on, and the captions bore little resemblance to the dailogue. For example, early in "The Wrong Trousers", Wallace wants Gromit to make breakfast. He says, "I'd like a three-minute egg." The captioning reads, "I've got three minutes, eh?" After suffering through several such mangaled lines, my brain hurt so much I had to switch captioning off. The original cartoons are excellent. This version, this DVD, is terrible. Hopefully someday a good version will be released.

Summary: The Warner version is altered from the original release.
Review: What, one star for Wallace and Gromit? No, the one star is for this DVD release by Warner. Warner does not give you the original films unaltered. To give you an example, listen to the song in "The Wrong Trousers" when Gromit opens his birthday card. You should hear the song "Happy Birthday" (obviously), but you won't hear it on the Warner release (but that is what you hear with the earlier Fox release, both on DVD and VHS). Warner decided to not release these films in their original form; Nick Park must be furious! Obviously, Warner does not care about the integrity of the films, or the artistic intent of their creators. Another problem with the Warner DVD is the fact that the animated menus for the films show scenes from the films, so that the surprise of them in the films is spoiled (not to mention the fact that it takes extra time to get to view the film). The plain menus in the Fox release do not give away anything in the films, so each scene is viewed without knowing in advance what is about to happen. Naturally, Wallace and Gromit deserve five stars; there is really very little to add to what has already been said about them. My advice: Buy a used copy of the Fox release instead. And complain to Warner for altering one of the greatest films ever made.

Summary: Three cheers for Wallace and Gromit!!!!
Review: I first saw the characters "Wallace and Gromit" on PBS one night when they were playing "The Wrong Trousers". There was nothing else on tv so I left it on that channel and was drawn in by Gromit, the long suffering dog and his owner, Wallace, an inventor. Before it was over, I was laughing so hard at the menacing villain, a penqiun disquised as a rooster (red glove on head) and Gromits attempts to thwart him. Gromit, being the smart dog he is, soon figures out that the new tenant in their home is a criminal and eventually saves the day and saves his dimwitted owner. The other shorts are as good as "The Wrong Trousers" and well worth the money. This is entertainment for young and old alike. If you have kids, they'll enjoy it. If you don't, YOU'LL enjoy it. I highly recommend this set of shorts to everyone! By the way, all three shorts were nominated for Oscars and two won ("The Wrong Trousers" and "A Close Shave" won Oscars for animated short)

Summary: Incredible DVD of Wallace and Gromit
Review: The films are brilliant, hilarious, etc. engough said. This disc would be worth 5 stars without any extras.
But the DVD extras are what make this DVD incredible. There are voice-over tracks so you can watch each movie while Nick Park and his team talk about the film. There are blueprints which flash by in one corner while the actual scene plays in the other. There are cute photo galleries. Nick Park's early films are interesting. Also his early test shots of Wallace and Gromit (Gromit actually had a mouth!) are interesting (the Wallace shots are in the same basement in which he builds his rocketship).
There is one interesting change in The Wrong Trousers; some of the music is different. Gromit's birthday card plays "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" instead of "Happy Birthday to You" as it did on the video. And the music the penguin plays is different (on the video one of the songs, hilariously, was "How Much is that Doggie in the Window"). On the voice over version, the music is back to the way it was on the video!
There is only one problem with the DVD-- there is no option to play all three movies. But this is not enough to reduce the 5 star rating.

Summary: Beyond the genius
Review: ...of Nick Park and the Aardman team, the technical aspects of this disk are something all DVD makers should aspire to. Without question, this disk - along with Shrek - have been the most creative use of the technology I've seen yet. And the stories don't bite one little bit.
