Rating: Summary: Glory the best movie! Review: I think Glory is a great movie. It really shows the hardships the blacks had to go through. I reccomend everyone to watch it.
Rating: Summary: Best Civil War film. Review: This was the best Civil War film I'd ever seen. The acting was great, the action was great, the whole movie was great. I think Denzel Washington should have got an academy award for this film. I would recommend this film to anyone who likes the Civil War.
Rating: Summary: Simply the Best Review: All that I have to say is that this is simply the most emotional movie that I've ever seen. Great acting. Buy the collector's edition!
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Movies of the 1990's Review: I was the Gaffer on Glory (lighting) and even ten years later it is one of my favorite movies. When people hear that I worked on it they ALWAYS say it is one of their favorite movies and that it should have won Best Picture and Director. You cannot go wrong if you give this as a gift to anyone who loves movies or history or war.
Rating: Summary: Man's inhumanity to his fellow man... Review: This movie is hypnotic. The cinematography was deserving of its oscar. It subtly conveys the horrors of war and its pointlessness while maintaining the popular notion of achieving "glory" on the battlefield. We witness these trials through the eyes of men that seem to have nothing to win from fighting but also nothing to lose. It is an honor to true heroes that didn't get the recognition they deserved.
Rating: Summary: Powerful Civil War film. Review: A stunning achievement, GLORY ranks in the top five war movies ever filmed, it is up there on my list of favorites right beside THE TRIUMPH AND THE GLORY and THE BRIDGES OF TOKO-RI. Extremely powerful emotionally, and very realistic, the most gritty war film of the last decade, unsurpassed until Saving Pruvate Ryan was filmed.
Rating: Summary: Makes you want to be a Black Soldier in the 54th! Review: This movie makes me cry just thinking about it. Fabulous. As a man of color, I revel in seeing a movie that shows the injustice my forebears have faced yet exemplifying the soul of black folks everywhere. The 54th was but one of 100's of thousands of black soldiers who fought in segregated units during every war our country has faced prior to the Korean conflict, including the Revolutionary war and in the war of 1812.Unlike so many other silly movies...there is no sequel...for our heroes die like men...Like MEN! I wished Hollywood would wake up and portray the rich history of these unique fighting men.
Rating: Summary: A piece of work.. Review: A piece of work indeed. This is undoubtably the best civil war film ever. Everything in this film is just about perfect. It was written and directed beautifully and the performances were excellent. Mathew Broderick, Denzel Washington, and Cary Elwes all give great realistic performances. And James horners score is absolutely beautiful...
Rating: Summary: I wish I could give it more stars Review: This is a magnificent movie. That's all there is to it. Some parts may be a little gory, but this is the Civil War we're talking about. This is an amazing and powerful movie that will touch your heart, whether you're in to history or not. It is a brilliant, well-acted film.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Civil War movie Review: "Glory" was a movie I saw a year ago in eighth grade at school. It was great, and my teacher, Mr. Karlsson, kept rewinding at the part in the beginning where the general's head blows off and played it in slow motion. Even without that, this movie was still one I enjoyed, and the actors (Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington) successfully worked their roles. Watch "Glory" because if you haven't, you are missing a good war movie.
