The Assault

Review: If you are into saturation violence, shoddy acting and female killers The Assault is just what you're looking for. Otherwise forget it. Basically the movie involves a woman who has witnessed a murder and is on the run from a bunch of crooks who want to kill her and finds refuge in a half-way house for women. The crooks catch up with the little lady and the killing begins. Lead by Stacie (Stacie Randall) and Toni (Melissa Braselle, who also has part of writing credits) the group of eight women mow down about 80 or 90 of the goons with the loss of only one of their own. The creeps have as much regard for their own lives as the man-eating plants in Day of the Triffids or the zombies in Night of the Living Dead. Randall and Braselle blow them away like clay pigeons. There is one man in the half-way house (Matt McCoy) who entertains a schmaltzy love interest in Randall, but for as charmless and non-contributing as he is, his part would have been best served by a pet house cat. A particularly amusing point is that with all the scum bags the girls gun down, whenever there is a scene outside the house, there isn't a stiff in sight! There ought to at least be an acre of them stacked neck high. Sorry to say there are people who enjoy movies like this, and I unfortunately, am one of them. I fell in love with Melissa Brasselle and am chomping at the bit to see more of her movies. I only hope they're as good as this one ---- OK!
