Summary: A really good debut for Brosnan
Review: I enjoyed this James Bond movie for several reasons. First, I think Pierce Brosnan did a great job in his debut as James Bond. He is able to deliver the one-liners well and intersperse humor with seriousness. He was great in the actions sequences as well. Second, I thought the villains were great, especially Xenia Onatopp (played by Famke Janssen). Her character reminded me so much of Fatima Blush (played by Barbara Carrera in Never Say Never Again). Xenia is one of the most interesting villain-ness henchperson in years. I really missed her character when she was gone -- I wished that she could been in the movie longer. Sean Bean is a good villain but he wasn't menacing enough. 3) I liked the Natalya character (Isabella Scorupta), a stunningly beautiful woman who is intelligent and capable. Some of the things that I didn't like in this movie were: First, Bond is scolded by several of the women as being "a misogynistic dinosaur, a relic from the Cold War" and "how can you be so cold?" Second, the BMW car never does anything -- I expected Bond to drive it and shoot up the bad guys with his missiles but all he did was drive it to Cuba and that's it. That was disappointing. Third, the Jack Wade character was really annoying. Please bring back Felix Leiter, and not this obnoxious slob! Overall, I thought it was a good entry and a great debut by Pierce Brosnan.

Summary: Good Bond film
Review: Goldeneye is one of the best bond films but not the best. Peirce Brosnan is the second best bond ever. He has saved the Bond series after Timothy Dalton who was the absolute worst Bond- I couldn't even sit through his movies. The movie has great action and a great villian. Bean is great though he was better in Patriot Games.

Review: Okay, here I go. It is definately the BEST James Bond of them all! The plot is great, the acting is great, and the characters are perfect too! Alec Trevelyan (a.k.a. 006) is the coolest! All the actors play their parts perfectly, making it a GREAT movie! I have seen almost every James Bond movie (save the Roger Moore ones, yuck! He was BLONDE for crying out loud!) and GoldenEye is the best!

Summary: Bond is back, finally and for good!
Review: After the disappointing Timothy Dalton, 007 finds a rebirth with Pierce Brosnan, who mixes perfectly the coolness and strength of Sean Connery and the humor which was brought to the character by Roger Moore. The movie itself is entirely in the James Bond's tradition, except maybe for the (non)use of the car. Introducing the new M wasn't an easy point to deal with, but it has been well handled. Action sequences are very efficient, some even astonishing. The Bond girls are sexy and perform their parts well, with maybe a bit too much contrast between the two Xenia and Nathalya. Overall, a very good James Bond, which includes all of the traditional ingredients and a more modern realisation.

Summary: A mixed bag
Review: This film has many different components.Some work,some don`t.First:The soundtrack is horrible.Second:Brosnan doesn`t give a perfect performance,but he is great,and has a lot of screen presence.Bean is one of the better Bond-villains,but the plot is absurd.How did 006 and Ouromov set up 006 death?That`s never explained.Janssen deserves credit for giving a great performance,she overplays her role in a wonderful way.

Summary: NEW BOND BROSNAN
Review: Not a bad movie. The special effects and story are okay, and it is a good first effort at the bond role by Brosnan. One of the few flaws of the movies was the traditional BMW, which was hardly shown off by Bond (this was heavily made up for it Tomorrow Never Dies). Another disappointment was that there were only two Bond girls, and he only slept with one of them. All in all not a bad movie, and it is worth watching.

Review: Pierce Brosnan's debut performance as James Bond is something of a mixed bag. It is my belief that Bond films, as a rule, must have a certain formula which ought to be obeyed at all times- the world must be in jeopardy, the villain must be an insane egomaniac whose plot for world domination is ridiculously overdone yet somehow plausible (having an eccentric cast of Bond-hating henchmen is a plus), the action must be fast and furious, and the locales must be beautiful and exotic. And, naturally, Bond's female costars must all be ravishingly beautiful women. Goldeneye falls a little short. Brosnan himself is quite good as Bond. Unlike Dalton and Lazenby, Brosnan has enough confidence to step into the role and make it his own knowing that Bond must be a combination of arrogance and good humor at all times. Lazenby tried to mimic Connery and Dalton, a wonderful actor, too often confused 007 with Shakespeare. Roger Moore brought his own talents to the part. Brosnan looks like he's enjoying the role immensely. To say that he is the best post-Connery Bond is entirely reasonable. Where Goldeneye fails is with the supporting cast. We have two Bond girls- Famke Janssen as bad girl Xenia Onatopp, and Izabella Scorupco as good girl Natalya Simonova. Janssen is quite good as the Bond-hating villainess who kills men by squeezing them to death between her thighs. Scorupco is a bit of a disappointment as Bond's bland computergeek girl. Sean Bean is also something of a disappointment as bad guy Alec Trevelyan, the former 006 who wants nothing more than to kill his former colleague. Bean himself is fine, but is given a ridiculously complex backstory and too often falls prey to idiot villain syndrome (doing dumb things to save the good guys). Trevelyan's plan for world domination- utilizing a Russian satellite to zap London with an electromagnetic pulse (thus erasing computers everywhere) is too expository and clunky for my taste. Otherwise "Goldeneye" is fine: The music is okay, the action sequences are somewhat rushed (the tank sequence in particular), and the locales are pretty neat (Monte Carlo, Russia, Cuba). Still, Bond's return from the inactive list could have been better. Not bad at all.

Review: Brosnan has the right look and the teaser sequence is fun. That being said, this is a big expensive nothing with no suspense or sense of Ian Fleming. It's a generic action picture with a brand name attached.
