Review: XXX is one of the greatest films of the summer! The symbolic murder of a nameless spy in a tux shows us that Bond is out! Rob Cohen takes adrenaline, comedy, sex, action, and let's not forget, a guy with a body like a Greek God, and rolls them all up into one amazing flick. Vin Diesel (Xander Cage) gives an outstanding performance opposite Samuel L. Jackson, not an easy act to be up against. Crashing into the public eye is Asia Argento. Despite her appearances in American films and her immense popularity in Europe, she has not gotten the attention in the US that she so deserves. She and Diesel have amazing chemistry that lights up the screen in the middle of all the action. Diesel must have great potential if Steven Spielberg felt it necessary to write a part just for him (Private Carpazo, Saving Private Ryan). Check out this action packed movie now, because a sequel is due out in 2004! Don't analyze this movie. Just sit back, relax, and let XXX take you on the ride of a lifetime!

Review: XXX is one of the greatest movies...! Rob Cohen, director, takes comedy, adrenaline, and, let's not leave this out, a leading guy with the body of a Greek God, and wraps it up all into one amazing flick. Vin Diesel (Xander Cage) delivers a great performance opposite Samuel L. Jackson, not an easy act to follow. Breaking into the scene is Asia Argento (Yelena). Despite her roles in some American movies and the extent of her fame in Europe, she has not gotten the attention in the US that she deserves. She and Vin Diesel have the greatest chemistry of any couple on screen, while keeping to the action of the movie. Don't go into this movie and analyze it. Just sit back and relax, and XXX will take you on the ride of a lifetime.

Summary: Kick [bottom] movie!
Review: I'll make it short n sweet...it was a great movie....loaded with action from start to finish....and Vin is FINE to the bone. The Russian guy/terrorist, who I think is fairly new to the big screen...is a great actor, as well. Back to Vin...You have to watch his other movies, as well...especially The Fast & the Furious, and Pitch Black. Boiler Room was good, just not enough shots of him :O)...

Summary: Vin deserves better
Review: In XXX, Vin Diesel plays Xander Cage, a 3 time convict (who also happens to be an extreme sports expert) who is recruited by Samuel L Jackson (who seems to take a role in any movie no matter how bad it is) to become a secret agent. The movie includes your typical hero, maniacal bad guy, and the girlfriend on the side. The "twists and turns" are predictable and typical cliche's of the genre--the bad girl is really a good girl, the cop turns to the evil side. Some of special FX are completely unbelievable (Xander can "outrun" an avalanche on skis???)XXX is a 2 hour assault on the eyes and ears. From begining to end, the viewer is attacked with fast camerawork, and background music so loud, we'd need subtitles to understand what the characters speaking English are saying. Vin Diesel is obviously the star of this movie, but the rest of the characters are flat and uninvolving. Some scenes drag on and on (such as Xander's training scenes), while the earlier scenes, which would have given more insight to the characters flash by so quickly you'd miss them if you blink. XXX is obviously trying to portray itself as a "guy movie", but even these blowemup types of movies deserve a good script and plot. Modern action classics such as Die Hard, The Terminator and True Lies have stood the test of time because they managed to incorporate plot and character development along with shootings and explosions. I can only pray that for XXX2, the producers will take out an explosion or 2 in favor of an actual script. Although you wouldn't know it by watching this movie, there lies a good actor inside of Vin Diesel. So after this review, why am I giving this movie 3 stars??? Because Vin Diesel proves to be a charismatic actor who does his best to pull off this nonsense of a movie. All in all, XXX is possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen--but I'd watch it again just to see Vin Diesel for 2 hours :)

Review: Whoa! If you want action, this is the place to find it! Vin Diesel plays a 21st Century James Bond!
XXX is actually Xavier Cage, a thrill seeker who gets his kicks doing stunts for an underground website. He lives his life on the wild side, fighting for small causes like the right to watch MTV and play video games. Never, in a million years, does he imagine that he'll be enlisted in a fight to save the world!
Samuel Jackson portrays a United States government agent who has lost several operatives to a group of hardcore zealots out to free the world from government rule. He has decided that the government should send in a new type of operative - one that the world has never seen and therefore won't be detected as easily. So he kidnaps several mercenaries and thrill-seekers and puts them to the test. Only one passes with flying colors: XXX.
Xavier is sent to Czechoslovakia to infiltrate a group called Anarchy '99. The deal is: supply the US government with information about the group and Xavier can return to the US, no questions asked. But once Xavier discovers the true nature of Anarchy '99's plan, he finds a cause worthy enough to continue fighting for. What ensues is an action-packed, Bond-esque adventure. The stunts are fabulous. The action well makes up for the lack of original storyline. I found this movie to be a pure adrenaline rush from start to finish. Well done!

Summary: James Bond for Gen-X?
Review: The trusty James Bond formula at work in this movie - make no mistake about it. You have high speed action scenes, nifty gadgets, good looking scantily clad women, and an unbelievably greasy villain. The Good: Vin Diesel is about as deadpan as they come. And it works for him. Samuel L. Jackson is a much more manipulative and hands-on version of 007's "M" The Bad: The greasy villain really didn't have anything about him to make you really despise him. The killing of the scientists was cold blooded - but it was hammed up so much it bordered on the laughable. The Ugly: Where was the evil enforcer? 007 had Jaws, Oddjob etc. XXX had ... no-one. A series of quasi-ineffective, semi-useful powerhouses were summarily dispatched with the usual quips, but there really wasn't the great climactic battle or semi-twisted end to the villain that we've grown accustomed to during 30+ years of 007. The Conclusion: The formula works. We've all seen it. The problem is keeping it fresh. XXX is teetering on the brink of completely revitalizing the Bond formula and dragging it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. If there is a sequel (which the ending seems to hint at) then I, for one, would be most interested in seeing the next step in the XXX saga. Overall - a good summer movie that provides entertainment without taxing the grey matter. Plenty of action, explosions, stunts and girls to keep the target audience happy.

Summary: What a RUSH!
Review: Gone are the days of tuxedos, English accents, the Austin Healy and "shaken" martinis. That was 40 years ago. Time for an overhaul. Bring on the tattoos, a sarcastic, up-yours attitude, and a Pontiac GTO. Bring on xXx. Xander Cage (Vin Diesel), a cocky, renegade extreme sports fanatic who uses his talents to make "extremely live" political statements, is being unwillingly recruited by the National Security Agency as a secret agent. Samuel L. Jackson, plays NSA Agent Gibbons, who abducts Xander and puts him to the "extreme" test to see if he's worthy of enlistment. " Vin Diesel had better enjoy his role as xXx - he may be playing it for a while. Just a nice guy from Manhattan, Vin is nothing like the roles he plays. He's a determined, hard-working actor who's actually humble and kinda sweet, if you can believe it. He may not have it all, but he's definitely got something, and it's apparently enough. Call it charisma, sex appeal, whatever. His on-screen presence is amazing. Whether he chooses his roles or they choose him, his growth and recent success has been remarkable. Teaming up with Director Rob Cohen hasn't hurt his career either. The two worked together in 2001 on "The Fast and the Furious," a fast-paced hot-rod film that earned {$$$}. "xXx" is certainly a 007 flick modernized with an MTV/extreme sports angle. The start of the film pokes fun at the classic 007 in a tuxedo. There's classic villains with typical schemes to somehow rule the world ("Dr. No"), some geek who does nothing all day but invent weird, but handy spy gadgets ("Q"), and all the unbelievable stunts and action sequences that we've loved since 1962 when Agent 007 was born. Director Rob Cohen claims, "We're reinventing the spy movie." Today's stunts involve snowboards, parachutes, motorcycles, speedboats, motor cross, a silver serving tray? as Xander Cage puts it, "anything fast enough to do something stupid in." Samuel L. Jackson's role is small but good, lending just the support we need. New Zealand actor Marton Csokas and Italian actress Asia Argento adequately play the Russian villains. Overall, the acting wasn't the greatest and neither was the plot. Was it incredibly entertaining? Oh yeah! So, I guess that's the whole point.

Summary: A Horrible Waste
Review: Triple X is the type of film which everyone is stupider for having seen, which the world is at a loss for harboring, and which eats away at the integrity of film as a creative medium, as 16M Sulfuric Acid does to tissue paper. That anyone would willingly allow the creation of such a mindless, poorly-written truckload of intellectually bankrupt drivel is entirely beyond me. Shame on the writer for accepting money for falling asleep on his keyboard and calling it a script (as well as for soiling the good name of "The Vandals," by quoting "Anarchy Burger.") Shame on Vin Diesel for doing a decent film like Boiler Room, and then making "The Fast and the Furious" look like "Schindler's List," by making "XXX," all the while accepting the 10 million he demanded for the role. It was literally a pleasure to see a total of fifteen people in the entire theatre. It was downright satisfying to see two people leave within the first five minutes. Hopefully, word of mouth can spread on how awful this is, and we can just let the wretched thing writhe in pain, as it drowns in its own shame for deliberately poisoning so many perfectly good minds. If you appreciate the fact that your body produces energy for you to perform any function, including seeing movies, you will spare it the humiliation of having wasted all of those nutrients, which it went through lengthy chemical processes to digest, on seeing the cinematic equivalent of septic leakage, known as "XXX."

Summary: one of the BEST!
Review: My best friend is the manager at the local theater, so as her guests, myself and another good friend got to screen this with her and the rest of the theater employees the night before it was officially released. AND IT ROCKED! It kept my interest the whole time, and the action/explosions never stopped! I loved Vin Diesel in the Fast and the Furious, so I knew that I'd love this simply because he was in it. But I didn't know I'd be THIS impressed! On top of being full of fast paced action and lots and lots of explosions, not to mention being set in beautiful Prague, its actually hilarious as well. Xander (Vin Diesel) is always ready with a smart-aleck come back to just about everything, and he's always gonna make you laugh. There's also a lot of cool gadgets to keep you going "oooooh sweet!", especially the midnite blue GTO with rocket launchers and other various weaponry that goes boom (James Bond never had it so good! Or is it just that James Bond never LOOKED so good? I can't decide!) Then there's your typical slew of sexy girls for the guys, and of course you have Vin Diesel for us girls as always, not to mention whomever it is that plays Yorgi, the villian (he's really not half bad at all.) Trust me, its more than worth your [price] to go see it!! :-)
