Summary: Major weak point!
Review: I heard so much about this movie but when I started watching it, I felt disappointed.At first, everything goes well... if you like spy movies! Yes, you can swallow it. But what I really didn't swallow was that Richard Gere (IRA) can always guess & predict what Bruce Willis (spy) is going to do next! I mean come on, an IRA knows, predicts and does everything as if he can read Bruce's mind! This was stupid hole in the movie that I couldn't swallow or accept... so the movie gets down rated! Yes, great actors names but awful movie!

Summary: My Quickie Review of this interesting action movie
Review: If you want to see Willis in a role other than the good guy this one is a keeper. He plays an asassin called the Jackal. It's a remake of the orginal film called "Day of the Jackal"..It has Richard Gere in a role that is normally played by a guy like Willis. It is my guess that they offered Willis the Gere role and he wanted a challange this time. He wanted to play the villian. He pulls it off in this one. Perhaps he might have the chance to play one again. It seems like he makes at least a half dozen movies per year.

Summary: Horrible Hollywood dreck...
Review: I bought this as one of those Blockbuster previously viewed specials for a couple bucks, thinking, how bad can it be? It's bad, really, really bad. There is nothing romantic about being a terrorist for hire, yet Hollywood, with Bruce Willis in the uber-terrorist role, manages to pull it off. This is a movie that will offend your senses and your intelligence. Richard Gere is wasted, and there aren't even many of the quote-unquote "cool" explosions for the teenage boy set. This sets the standard for lame-o, offensive action "thrillers." Avoid. Even if you get it ultra cheap at a fire sale.

Summary: Fast moving , racey. A very clever remake.
Review: Willis plays a hired assassin named the Jackal, hired to kill the U.S. First lady. FBI agents hire Gere, to hunt down and stop the Jackal before he carries out his assignment. As Gere's persona in the movie says "its not him against us, its the other way around." Watch this movie, marvel at the action sequences and Willis going from one airport to the next with different disguises! Fantastic.

Summary: One of Willis' most chilling roles
Review: Bruce Willis' role as an assassin in "The Jackal" will give you goosebumps. A well-made cat and mouse film, you will struggle with who to root for in this film, the evil Bruce Willis or mysterious FBI ally Richard Gere. The movie is very suspenseful and only weakened by Gere's attempt to be a cool con. Overall, a great movie that every Willis fan should see.

Summary: Decent enough to fill a few hours with...if you're bored.
Review: Bruce Willis is his usual, dare I say it, mostly boring self and Richard Gere is as pouty as ever, so it's the story that tends to keep one interested in this film. Bruce Willis is a huge star, yet his acting abilities have never surpassed marginal. This film is no different in that regard. He tends to play the strong, silent type, unintentially caught up in situations that give him cause to persevere. Although it is refreshing to see him play the role of a villian, his style of acting doesn't quite take his character in this film to the level of intensity it would have been nice to see. True, a silent psychosis lends itself well to this character, but Bruce Willis simply lacks the depth necessary to accomplish it. Richard Gere portrays the "every man" - a departation from roles he commonly plays, which are those of successful, educated, professionals of one type or the other. He continues to have the sense that he's trying to look good on screen - as though he is constantly looking into an off-camera mirror to evaluate his appearance, however he manages the role effectively, producing not a powerful perfomance, but one that is neither bad nor good. Though the story falls short of it's intended mark, it is the strongest point of this film. It comes ever so close to being slightly unbelievable but still manages to provide for a degree of high-level espionage intrigue, action, and a dash of suspense. The film attempts to be international in scope with it's multitude of locations and plot twists, but the acting is simply not powerful enough to take it beyond an action film with interesting enough events that make you kind of want to hang around just to see what happens. If you're going to buy this DVD, get the DTS version if your system can do it. The Collector's Edition isn't worth losing out on the superior sound quality. There's a "Making Of..." on the Collector's Edition which is fair, but other than actor bios, not much else to offer. No where near something that needs to be in every DVD collection, but if you're looking for a movie to pass the time on a lazy Sunday afternoon because you just don't feel like doing the lawn, this will suffice. If you're looking for a film with a high degree of intelligence, powerful perfomances, and riveting plot (which this tries to be), then you've knocked on the wrong door.

Review: This is an exciting movie and it is fun to watch Bruce Willis change so much. I own this and it's not great but it is really good. I reccommend this.

Summary: Three stars . . ..
Review: Bruce Willis gives a good performance as a cold blooded hired killer in this film. I say "good" instead of "fantastic" because I still couldn't hate him. Nor was he particularly frightening. However, he was a clever criminal with smart gadgets and mildly impressive disguises. The movie is not lacking of intelligent characters or good action sequences. There are no dull moments and I loved the bit of a surprise at the end. However, there are two reasons I give the film three stars instead of five. First of all, the storyline is rather weak. The film centers around one major hit that Bruce Willis is supposed to make yet the greater portion of the movie deals with his simply preparing for the hit. While action still abounds, it leaves the viewer to wonder if you will ever get to the actual job. Why he needed such a special and expensive gun is never explained. The viewer is also left to wonder what happened to the Russian criminal that hired Bruce Willis in the first place. The final reason I gave this film only three stars is Richard Gere. While I like Gere and his acting, I do have to wonder why anyone would have him play an Irishman. His accent was pathetic at best.

Summary: Ended Too Fast
Review: Crisp, clean movie. Suspense kept me on the edge of my seat until the exciting end. Gere and Willis were both superb in this thriller. Sometimes suspense is better than lots of "blow-em up action". I liked it much better than Die Hard. The special effects will surprise you and make it much better than the old version. Somewhat similar to "The Specialist" which is probably Silvester Stallone's best movie.

Summary: Bruce Willis the Bad Guy
Review: Usually, we associate Bruce Willis with the many and varied good guy roles he has played, like John McLane in the "Die Hard" trilogy or Harry, the mission commander in "Armageddon". Not so with his title role in "The Jackal". It was incredibly surprising to me to see the lengths he goes to in order to avoid being captured by Sidney Poitier and Diane Venora, with help from Richard Gere, the only other man who can identify the Jackal. This is one guy you do not want to mess with. I'm willing to bet that playing this role was a nice change for Willis. The fun that he's having portraying this monster is frightneningly evident in several scenes. Not only that, Gere's character is a criminal as well....but I guess there really is a kernal of truth to that old expression, "the lesser of two evils."
