Rating: Summary: Best Movie Series Ever Review: The Die Hard Trilogy is the best movie series ever. In the first Die Hard, which I give 4 1/2 stars, German Terrorists(At that time they were West German) invade a high-rise L.A. office building. They tried to steal $640 Million Dollars in bonds. They got the bonds, but they all died. At the beginning of the movie, it's around 4:00 P.M.-5:30 P.M. and N.Y.C. Cop John McLane (Bruce Willis), has arrived in Los Angeles at the airport to see his estranged wife, Holly Gennero McLane,(Bonnie Bedelia). John goes to Nakatomi Plaza where his wife works. The Nakatomi Corporation celebrates it's best year ever, which is due to Holly, until 13 terrorists crash the party. There were many shootouts in this movie, and at least 19 characters die in this movie. The end scene was excellent. When the terrorists arrive, 2 of them are in a Mercedes which the model was never revealed, while the other 11 get out of a moving truck that says Pacific Courier on it,and you later find out that there is an ambulance in it. The part when the terrorists get out of the moving truck is cool with good music. That part was one of the many parts in this movie that's much better in widescreen. When the terrorists talked in German, subtitles were not put in to identify what they were saying. Without this movie, Bruce Willis would not be a star today. Die Hard is rated R for violence (many shootouts and blood), profanity, the F word, which mostly came from Bruce Willis, even though a hostage said it 2 times in the movie, one of the terrorists said,... and another said what Bruce Willis said in the movie, "Yip-Eey Kay-Yaa, ...,
Rating: Summary: Bruce Willis' star-making movie!!!! Review: When Released in 1988, no one thought this movie would be a success, after all it was turned down by stars>>Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, Mel Gibson, Sylvester Stallone, & Arnold Scwarzenegger, how could it succeed with Bruce Willis, then a T.V. star, well succeeded it did as Willis brought his own brand of humor & personality to NY cop John McClane who is visiting his wife in L.A. on Christmas Eve in a corporate highrise that is soon taken over by terrorist who are more in the form of theives who want valueable barrier-bonds tucked away in the company's vault, as Willis escapes detection he becomes a one-man force that creates headache for the terrorist leader Hans Gruber played terrificly by Alan Rickman, when police units arrive on the ground in front of the building we see Willis' sarcasm come to life as he not only has to do battle with the terrorist but do battle verbally with the deputy police chief(Paul Gleason) who seems more concerned about the building's damage than the hostages inside, Reginald VelJohnson(T.V.'s Family Matters)provides Willis with emotional support by radio response, this film is well put together as Willis soon discovers that the terrorist are planning on killing the hostages in an attempt to fake their own death in order to get away freely, he is soon confronted by the henchman of Gruber(Alexander Goodonov)in which they fight to the death, soon the F.B.I. arrives & attempts to thwart their plan of escape that backfires in one of the film's best sequences that has Willis jumping 40 stories from an exploding roof after he has dispatched the henchman & gotten the hostages off the roof, with a firehose wrapped around him he makes it to a safe floor, with debree falling all around him, Willis evntually saves the day & is soon out of the building in a satisfying ending, Willis proved he was just more than a T.V. star with this one & has had a successful film career since doing different types of movies, "Die Hard" spawned rip-offs, but this one still holds up well all these years later.
Rating: Summary: cousinpaco's top action: #2 Review: Every so often, a movie comes along that creates its own "sub-genre."Bruce Willis stars as a guy (who happens to be a New York cop) stuck in a Los Angeles high-rise full of terrorists. Pretty simple formula. What sets this movie apart is the sheer intelligence of the script, the rock-solid performances of the cast, and the staggering action sequences. Willis proved nay-sayers wrong with his ability to carry this picture, and rightly so. His John McClane is vulnerable, tough, and funny as heck. His over-the-radio comraderie with Sgt. Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson) provides a nice amount of male-bonding. Hart Bochner, Alexander Godunov, and Paul Gleason also contribute quality performances. Plus, you get an appearance by Al Leong, one of the best supporting bad guys in Hollywood, as a snack-hungry villain. However, no discussion of "Die Hard" is complete without focusing on Alan Rickman. As the mastermind of this hostile takeover, Rickman portrays the most charismatic bad guy in movies. Ever. His performance is seamless--switching from smooth, sly evil to threatening charm without skipping a beat. The plot is never dull, perfectly structured, and packs a wallop of a twist. The only minor story flaw: the "surprise" reappearance of a fallen bad guy. This ain't "Friday the 13th" - it doesn't NEED to be. That's just nit-picking. The movie as a whole overcomes this misstep. This movie appears on television almost constantly. Ignore it--buy the DVD and experience the room-shaking explosions in their purest form. The DVD is fully loaded with bonus features, but it doesn't need them. The movie would be worth owning all by itself. You've heard other films described as "'Die Hard' on a _____." It's easy to see why everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
Rating: Summary: An edge of your seat adrenaline rush Review: Die Hard is an amazing action movie, an edge of your seat adrenaline filled thriller that made Bruce Willis an action star and John McTiernan the most popular director at that time. From the moment a black truck is seen rolling into the Nakatomi building, you know you're in for two hours of pure bloody violence, including gunfights and hand fights. This is perhaps Bruce Willis's trademark movie, one that he shall be remembered for long after he's gone. The first time I watched the movie, I didn't move. Not even for a glass of water or a snack. I just sat there staring at the TV in disbelief, disbelief because I had just witnessed a fight that no movie today could match up to. While today's movie are targeted more the popcorn teenage type of guys, this is an adult thriller, showing off that sometimes in the world of corny action, some true genius does break through. Bruce Willis is John McClane, a New York cop who's visiting his wife in California. She works in the "Nakatomi" building, a gigantic skyscraper ruled by Mr. Takagi, a businessman. However, terrorists soon take over the building to steal the 640 million dollaes hidden inside a vault and kill the boss. They capture McClane's wife and round up hostages, killing anyone who gets in their way. Police are afraid to enter the building because the hostages may get killed and the terrorists are clever and know all of the cop's plans.. But it's not the end. For the terrorists did not capture one man. John McClane. He's one of the least likely to be in his position. But now he's the only one who can defeat the terrorists and save the day. Yes, I must admit that Die Hard, like other action movies, is predictable and is a basic one man against a dozen thriller. The good part about it though is that is has plenty of gunplay to hold your breath depsite the ending. The directing is amazing, the acting is great (especially Alan Rickman, who plays the leader of the gang, Hans Gruber) A spectacular motion picture. Well worth buying though you should get the DVD cause it has a lot of special features.
Rating: Summary: One of the Ten Best Action Movies of All Time! Review: ALthough there have been countless films to enter the action genre, Die Hard continues to be one of the ten best ever released. Few people can think of the name Bruce Willis without recalling this gritty tough-cop shoot'em up that helped to establish him as one of actions finest stars! From opening to end, it is one hell of an adrenaline rush! Sit back, cause action is going sky-high!
Rating: Summary: Thrilling Heart-Stopping Action Review: Die Hard will always be my favorite action film. Bruce Willis played John McClane perfectly. No other actor could have done better. Bonnie Bedelia did a great job acting as John's estranged wife Holly McClane. Alan Rickman and Reginald VelJohnson also give fantastic performances. Director John McTiernan did an awesome job with the film. The DVD is great. The picture and sound are absolutly perfect in every way. This film is LOADED with special features. The 2 extended scenes are good. The gag reel is cool too. The film is 132 minutes long and is Rated R for: language, violence, and really brief nudity. Die Hard is about John McClane(Willis) who traveled to LA to spend Christmas with his wife and childeren. John goes to vist his wife at work. She works at the Nakatomi Plaza on floor number 30 where theres a party for people who work on the floor, they are the only people left in the building besides the guard. A little later terrorists take over the building and take everybody on the 30th floor hostage. John is in Holly's office and isn't taken hostage. Instead he runs up a couple flights of stairs to hide. Now the action, thrills, and enjoyment begin. Make sure you buy this film. Its one of the best. The Five Star Collection DVD is worth your money. I bought the Gift Pack of all three which is an even better deal. I hope you like the film as much as I did. Thanks
Rating: Summary: Welcome To The Party Pal!! Review: This is the best action movie of all time. Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedlia, Reginald VelJohnson, Paul Gleason, and Alexander Godunov star in the movie. It is about New York cop John McClane(Bruce Willis) who comes to visit his wife Holly(Bonnie Bedelia) and his kids in Los Angeles for the Christmas Holiday. On Christmas Eve while John waits for Holly in her office, mostly German terrorists lead by Hans Gruber(Alan Rickman), seize control of the 40 story highrise. McClane escapes unnoticed and is in a race against time to save his wife and thirty other hostages. Many Peole will agree with me that this is one of(if not the) best Action movie. The sequels are pretty good. I thought that Die Hard with a Vengeance was the best sequel. See this movie and all those movies that rip this off! It has a very exciting finale!

Rating: Summary: Yipee Kay Yay ... you know the rest. Review: The commentary by the director is very enjoyable but also tells us some of the 'secrets' of this classic action movie : When Hans and his team of terrorists get off the truck, we see its empty inside ... and yet at the END of the movie we see the getaway van coming OUT of the truck !!! Where did that van come from ??? I bet none of you noticed that until now didn't you ??? Great classic action flick anyways.
Rating: Summary: ACTION PACKED Review: This is an action packed movie, but it also has a little bit of comedy and of course a tiny bit of drama. You will love this movie and the sequels.
