Rating: Summary: Not just guy stuff, Tommy Lee is for us ladies too Review: A previous reviewer stated that this movie was loaded with guy stuff. While this might be true, 90 minutes or so of Tommy Lee Jones (and a couple great love scenes) works for me! Killer fight scenes too. This was a very enjoyable movie. Unfortunately, done before Jones was really appreciated. What took everyone so long?
Rating: Summary: This Film Is Noteworthy..... Review: Because it features a character portrayed by Bubba Smith, who is probably the only onscreen persona in all of Hollywood who can appear to intimidate Tommy Lee Jones.
Rating: Summary: This DVD has a bad skip Review: I grew up and love this movie. Black Moon Rising will always hold a special place in my heart. I wore out my tape version so I perchased the rather expensive DVD .... First of all this is not a duel layer disk, so a skip should not happen. Actually the skip (close to halfway through the movie) is much worse on duel layer discs. This made me mad. If I pay close to 30 bucks for a dvd, I expect it to be in tip top shape. I returned it for an exchange and guess what! Same skip but only much, much worse than on my first version. I even have a top-of-the-line DVD player; a sony. I give up. The movie is good, but be causious, most versions of this disc (my family and friends have the same bad skip on their dvd's) contain that terrible skip. I hope [the manufacturer/publisher] fixes it, because I have the same problem on the documentary on my Evil Dead II dvd.
Rating: Summary: Good beginning, good ending, boring middle Review: I saw this movie at a Saturday matinee back in 1986. The theater was packed, which is surprising because as it turned out "Black Moon Rising" was not a box office hit.The audience's reaction to the film was pretty much the same as mine: * Tommy Lee Jones was great. He was funny, droll, charismatic; without a doubt his performance was the best thing about the whole movie. * The first twenty to thirty minutes of the film were pretty good. An interesting story setup, sharp dialogue, and one solid (and underrated) car chase between Jones and Linda Hamilton. * The last twenty minutes, where Jones breaks into the high security building to steal back the supercar, were also quite good. There was some great stunt work, including one action scene that had the audience cheering, as well as a solid bare-knuckled brawl between Jones and villain Lee Ving. So what's wrong with "Black Moon Rising"? The middle forty minutes, that's what's wrong. After a promising start, this movie goes straight down the tubes and becomes downright BORING. Talk, talk, talk, and no action. Plenty of scenes of characters threatening one another, making accusations, and storming through doors, but nothing to hold the story together. I still remember the sounds of audience members around me stretching and yawning during those long, dry stretches. Even Jones couldn't keep the audience awake. So what's the verdict? Unlike most movies that are good all the way through or bad all the way through, this one is a mixed bag. At least on DVD you can instantly skip the boring scenes... and believe me, there are a lot of them. But otherwise I wouldn't buy "Black Moon Rising" unless I had money to burn. One last thing. Some reviewers have mentioned Hamilton's love scene with Jones? Forget it. It's a complete yawner, like much of the film. To those viewers hankering to see Hamilton get hot and heavy, I'd recommend you check out her love scene with Michael Biehn in "The Terminator" instead.

Rating: Summary: Tommy Review: Is he good, or is he good - best love scene with the best guy in it. Good work, Tommy!
Rating: Summary: One of those overlooked gems Review: It happens. Wrong time. Wrong place. Who Knows? But sometimes even movies released into regular circulation from the major studios fall through the cracks. This is definitely one of those. Tommy Lee Jones as the industrial spy is as cool and calm as he's ever been. Linda Hamilton is as good as she's ever been and Richard Jaekel turns in another steady performance. The plot is clever and tight enough to satisfy most and the directing by Harley Cockliss (whatever happened to him? This seems to be his only outing) is tight and well paced. This is just a good action thriller, and it has one of the best fist-fight scenes ever. It isn't quite up to the budget of the newer "high concept" titles like Enemy of the State or The Rock, but it's every bit as nifty as those. Jones' performance alone is worth the price of the rental so grab a pizza and a six pack and go for it. Note: The "Guy Factor" is real high here, so all you testosterone-laden males out there are virtually guaranteed a good time.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: One of Linda's best movie
Rating: Summary: Watchable thriller Review: Tommy Lee Jones plays a freelance thief who is hired by the US government to steal a computer tape from a Las Vegas gang boss .The gand members are less than delighted when he accomplishes his mission and set out to get the tape back and eliminate him in the process. With the gang in hot pursuit he conceals the tape in the Black Moon ,a new experimental car with some distinctly high performance features .Unfortunately for him the car is stollen by Linda Hamilton for a hot car ring run by Robert Vaughn .
Jones need to retrieve the car and the tape -no easy task given that they are in a fortress like office tower AND the bad guys ,headed by Vin Rames ,together with a federal agent ,played splendidly by Bubba Smith are all after him ,and not for the purpose of selling him health insurance !
The story is not especially plausible but the vigorous direction from Harley Cokliss helps paper over the narrative cracke .Jones is -as ever-splendid and the rest of the cast are way better than the material
Good action scenes and a lively pace ensure you will have a good time watching this -although one scene in which Jones absorbs a brutal beating seemed a tad over the top to me .It just lacked a better script to elevate it a notch or two higher in the eighties thriller league
Rating: Summary: TOMMY LEE MAKES IT WORTH IT BUT--------------- Review: Tommy Lee makes the movie worth watching except for the one objectionable scene with Hamilton.
She does not do her role justice but I assume this is about the beginning of her career. At times her delivery of speech was much too soft.
Her acting was ok. As for pulling a car heist? Ah, well!
What a way to lose his evidence. Hey, the police hired Quint! What do they expect?
Great action - darn good actors - fast enough pace for the story - Tommy Lee just keeps getting better.
Might recommend but ??????????????????????????
