Summary: A good film gets better
Review: The recent release of the director's cut of Lethal Weapon add depth to the film by the inclusion of approximately 7 minutes of new scenes. The additions are in the beginning of the film when the characters are still being developed. In one scene, Gibson's character walks into the line of fire of a sniper, and in another he has a rather violent reaction to a commercial on TV. In the context of this portion of the movie, it further establishes the pain Gibson's character is going through and his mental state...is he crazy or just not caring what happens to him? Additional scenes also establish Glover's character's concern at growing old...does he still have it?The balance of the film is pretty much unchanged. Lethal Weapon is a fun buddy action/comedy movie, but shines more than the sequels, which emphasized comedy and cartoonish action. Gibson and Glover actually act here, Gibson in particular in the scenes where he is struggling with his wife's death. The interplay between the actors makes this movie a cut above the standard action movie.

Summary: Never Quit
Review: The thing I love about this movie, which I have seen many, many times, is Mel Gibson's character. He has the attitude that he will WIN, no matter what the odds. He never quits, never gives up. His character meshes so well with Danny Glover's that you really don't believe they're acting at all. Who cares about the plot? The lines are great, and delivered flawlessly. Great movie. Great great movie.

Summary: DTS and Extra Footage!
Review: [T]his is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I watched it often on widescreen laserdisc; when I saw that they were re-releasing the DVD version of this in DTS, I had to order a copy. Well, I was not disappointed! I didn't even know that this was called "The Director's cut" and contains over 7 minutes of extra footage. There are whole scenes added which flesh out Martin's charector even better. The video is fantastic (blows my laserdisc version away) and the DTS... oh my. I love that Eric Clapton guitar in the background, and all those softly spoken phrases in the movie (if you have watched this as many times as I have, you know what I mean) are finally clearly heard! If you like this movie at all, and especially if you can decode DTS, you owe it to yourself to get this movie. Lets just say that after watching this movie probably 30 times or more, it was a lot like watching it again for the first time, it looked and sounded so good. Chow!

Summary: They FINALLY did it...
Review: ...Warner Bros. has finally released the Lethal Weapon Director's Cuts on DVD. I was in disbelief when I discovered that the initial DVD releases were just the theatrical renditions. The 'Lethal Weapon 4' disc showed all of the deleted scenes in its Extra Features section, but it just wasn't the same. Being the movie completist that I am, I wanted to see these moments fully restored to their respective flicks. I wasn't disappointed. For the first 'Lethal', seven minutes were restored- Riggs's (Mel Gibson) firefight with a schoolyard sniper, Murtaugh's (Danny Glover) self-affirmation at the firing range, and other moments. The picture quality was quite a bit sharper than the VHS versions, and the sound was clearer, with better separation... just what one expects from DVD! There aren't too many extras thrown in, though. Just the trailer, an article describing the setting up of the climactic final fight sequence between Gibson and Gary Busey, and filmographies of the major players of the movie. So there's not much else to view on this disc other than the movie itself... 'Late

Summary: Widely imitated, never equalled
Review: Widely-imitated buddy-cop picture that started the whole trend that still refuses to die... and it's still better than all of them put together! Suicial ex-sniper (Gibson) and aging family man (Glover) team up when an enemy out of Gibson's shadowy past starts causing trouble. Invigorating, nonstop fun; the only letdown is the finale, which is anticlimactic -- but when the whole film is climactic to begin with, maybe that's not so bad. (Those with an anti-Gary Busey stance will savor the ending, however.)

Review: I have seen this move maybe 100 times and every time I watch it it get's better. The acting is supurb! Mel Gibson and Danny Glover work Real well togeather. Gary Busy dose a superb job to. If you haven't seen this movie then I would defenitly Recomend it!

Summary: You really are crazy!
Review: Mel Gibson sets the screen on fire, as he plays Martin Riggs, a headstrong cop who is tormented by the death of his wife. No one wants to work with him, because they think he's crazy, and suicidal. So when he is transferred and assinged to reluctent, cautious, almost retiree, Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover. Martin and Roger's opposite despositions clash, but after a while, they grow to have a grudging admiration for each other. And when Roger's daughter, Rianne, is kidnapped, Martin is the only guy who can help get her back.

Review: Plent of shooting, car crashes, and other violence. If you are into action movies, this is a good one. Gibson and Glover make a great team. Gibson is especially good as a cop flirting with madness. For action fans this movie will not disappoint.

Summary: Director's Cut review
Review: There was about 6 minutes of additional footage added to this. It changes several character archs too. Martin Riggs introduces even MROE iterest in the Three Stooges when he pays a hooker to watch TV with him. This version plays a bit darker than the original version. Martin Riggs has another early seen where he takes on a sniper, furthing the storyline that he does NOT care about himself.

Summary: LETHAL INDEED
Review: Lethal Weapon is one of the best films of the 1980s. It's fast, furious and a wonderful drama wrapped up in a beautifully executed action film. Director Richard Donner brings the characters to life, as well as the film's stars, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. The film is very special and is as much a compelling drama about a policeman holding on by a thread as it is an action film. This film is highly overlooked and is destined to be a classic over time.
