Summary: The Spy who Loved Me
Review: There will always bea debate on whichis Roger Moore's best film, The Spy who Loved Me or For Your Eyes Only. I liked TSWLM better for a number of reasons, and here's why: One, the settings: This film takes place In Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea and has footage of the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids at Giza. Ken Adam, who designed the sets for this film, You Only Live Twice, and Dr.Strangeglove, received an Oscar nomination at the 1977 Academy Awards for Best Art-Set Direction. Two is action. The action in this film is taut and suspenseful. Some great scenes are an entertaining pre-title ski chase, a terrific car chase (my favorite one in the series) where Bond and Agent Triple X (Barbara Bach) are being pursued by a helicopter and another car alongside the ocean. The best part is where OO7's Lotus Espirit ditches the helicopter by jumping into the sea and converting into an armed sub. It then destoys the helicopter with a missile. Some other great fights are a hand-to-hand combat fight on building, on a train where Bond fights Jaws, and at the Pyramids where OO7 defeats Jaws once again. Some other great fights are a grand scale gunfight aboard Stromberg's Liparus, an awesome underwater fight where Bond and Triple X fight Stromberg's men and machines underwater in his gadget-ladden Lotus Espirit,and a fight at the shark room in Atlantis where OO7 faces off with Jaws for the final time. Three is music. Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better is a great theme song and earned a Best Original Song Nomination at the '77 Oscars but lost to You Light Up My Life. Marvin Hamlisch's score is also excellent an received a nomination for Best Original Score but lost to Star Wars. Though some people don't like the score because John Barry didn't do it, I think it is great and Barry never got a nomination for Best Original Score with a OO7 film but I like Barry better anyway and he has won more Oscars than Hamlisch overall. Finally, there is plot and acting. Roger Moore gives his best performance as Bond and Barbara Bach is one of the best Bond girls. Curt Jurgens is good as Stromberg but is not very lively and can't compare to other villains such as Wiseman in Dr.No, Celi in Thunderball, Frobe in Goldfinger, Shaw in FRWL, Pleasance in YOLT, Savalas in OHMSS, Gray in Diamonds, Lee in Golden Gun, Walken in AVTAK or Bean in GoldenEye. Richard Kiel is great as Jaws and is one of the best subordinate villains along with Oddjob and Tee-Hee. The plot is like the one in YOLT but is improved. I highly recommend this film and all the other films in this review except Golden Gun, which isn't all that good.

Summary: Best Bond after Goldfinger
Review: Having been accused of stealing the plot of You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved ME merely vastly improved on it. This BOnd has everything! Great story, a crazed nautical villain who resides in a futuristic and fantastical stronghold, the most memorable henchman since Oddjob in the form of Jaws, great locations, great music by Marvin Hamlisch, a great theme song performed by Carly Simon, great titles by Maurice Binder...like Goldfinger, all the ingredients are present and used to the full. Although I think the violent fight on the tanker near the finale was a bit excessive. Also, don't forget the women..the most alluring assemblage since Thunderball. Barbara Bach makes a great Triple X. Although I have to admit that her character did next to nothing near the end, being tied up and let Bond save the world. Caroline Munro made a stunning villainess in a bikini...although it was unfortunate that her role was rather small. Olga Bisera and Sue Vanner round up the other women that Bond dallies with. This is the best of the Moore films. It is to him what Goldfinger is to Connery, and perhaps the World Is Not Enough to Brosnan.

Summary: Nobody Does It Better Than You, James
Review: This film is probably Roger Moore's best outing as 007. This film combines all the right elements, to make a fine film. From the opening, viewers are swept into 007's world. Barbara Bach is ample as Anya Amasova, or Triple X. She doesn't bring much to her part, therefore she is not one of Bond's best ladies. This film introduces Richard Kiel's character Jaws (The seven foot giant with a set of steel teeth)his character is essential to the film. Also in the Rogue's Gallery is Carl Stromburg (wonderfully played by German Kurt Jurgen)who is particularly complex for a Bond Vilain. His plot to destroy the world to build an underwater city (much like his own) is masterfully foiled by 007. This film is filled with lots of action scenes, which are key to the film's fast pace. All in all, Moore's best adventure, and one of 007's finest.

Summary: Nobody does it better
Review: After a shaky start where it looked like the popularity of Bond was dipping , Bond needed a hit to reform his status as the no.1 film hero, along came THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. TSWLM assured Roger Moore to be quite a component Bond coming close to rivaling his predecessor Sean Connery. TSWLM starts off to one of the best pre-title sequence ever. The plot has Bond teaming up with beautiful Russian agent Major Amasova (Barbara Bach) in quashing arch-villian Stromberg (Curt Jurgens) plan of world destruction. Standing in Bond's way is seven-foot-two inch steel toothed goon Jaws (Richard Kiel). The two things I do not like are (1) Stromberg isn't the greatest villian (2) The score has areal seventies feel to it and John Barry is dearly missed ( I can't see why he didn't do the music for every Bond film). Overall THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is a classic Bond adventure , you will want to watch time and time again.

Summary: James Bond collaborates with Russian spy
Review: Roger Moore once again returns to the role as James Bond 007. This is probably one of Moore's best films he did as Bond. James Bond must recover a mircofilm of the Polaris Tracking System. The only thing that is stopping him is a 7 ft. steel-toothed monster by the name of Jaws. With the introduction of Jaws in this movie, it brings a new flare to the Bond series. Jaws is a type of character that is not easily forgotten. On the DVD version of "The Spy Who Loved Me," you get the same kinds of extras that are on all of the Bond DVD's. Some people may get bored of this, but I actually like them, and am waiting to see the one about this movie. I felt as if the acting was very nicely done. I think that General Gogul should have been kept in the series. He didn't seem to be a villan, eventhough working for the Russian government, but he helped Bond and MI6 with some things. Here in this movie, General Gogul has James Bond and Anya Amasova working together to recover the microfilm. The action scenes were great, especially the ski jump in the pre-titles sequence that is still talked about even today. I enjoyed this movie very much and recommend it to anyone who is wanting to upgrade their Bond video collection from VHS to DVD. "The Spy Who Loved Me" is full of action and romance, two main elements in the Bond formula. So if this is the type of Bond movie you like, this is the one you're looking for.

Summary: Great Bond fun-definetly one to watch.
Review: The Tenth of the Bond films, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is a fun filled adventure with just about all the elements that made the Bond films of old great. In this outing Bond, (Roger Moore who does a better job then I thought he would, minus the blonde hair,) is partenered with Russian Agent Triple X-Anya Amosova, (Barbera Bach) to find the whereabouts of two nuclear submarines that had mysteriously dissappeared. The culprit is Karl Stromburg, (Curt Jurgens) a rich and powerful individual who will use the nuclear weapons onboard to destroy New York and Moscow and start a new underwater civilization. This Bond adventure is more gadget laden then some of the others, has some great action scenes and also introduced the infamous villian Jaws, (Richard Kiel) the seven foot tall behemoth henchman with a mouth of deadly steel. Jaws should be remembered for his size, strength and ability to be almost unbeatable as well as make even the mighty James Bond quake in his boots during a fight. If you don't believe me, just look at Moore's facial expresion while they fight on the train. In the line of Bond films, this one is probably near the top of the list as well as Moore's best performance as Bond. Bach is equally great as Bond's Russian, female equivilant Triple X. Jurgens had the makings of a menacing baddie as Stromburg, just not a terific or a truly memorable one. Kiel, while he doesn't have much to say does make his pressence known for being a tough but dim thug, his invulnerability does get carried away at times though. From the opening chase and theme song till the action filled finale, this one is a good choice if your looking for a Bond movie.

Summary: Roger Moore's Best
Review: It is also one of my favorite entries in the Bond series, even though it is a recycled version of You Only Live Twice....even to the point of casting as the American sub commander the same guy who was the US astronaut in the capsule that was about to be swallowed at the end of YOLT. TSWLM works because of the action, the henchman Jaws (the end of the film makes a good poke at the movie JAWS, with Richard Kiel's character killing a shark with his teeth!), and Bond's Russian counterpart Anya, played by the lovely Barbara Bach. Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better is one of the more memorable Bond songs.

Review: This is definitely Roger Moore's best movie, and in my opinion is the second best of the whole series! Great acting by Moore and the beautiful Barbara Bach. The henchmen, girl, locations, villain, gadgets- everything is good in this movie! Buy this movie!

Review: I love this movie. Its got everything. The best henchman, the best car chase, and sharks. Can't get enought sharks...Anyway, if you are an action fan this is a must have. One of Roger Moore's best performances of Bond. It is just a wonderful movie.
