Summary: How many people would you kill to save YOUR sister?
Review: "Vertical Limit" fosters comparisons to "Cliffhanger" because they both start out the same way as the hero, Chris O'Donell as Peter Garrett this time around, faces a fatal mountain climbing accident which makes him swear off such nonsense until circumstances force him to conquer his demons and a bigger, badder mountain. The mountain in question is K2 and the person he needs to rescue is his estranged sister, Annie (Robin Tunney), who is actually trapped INSIDE the mountain. This twist is necessary to justify carting volatile nitroglycerine around the mountain for a series of spectacular explosions. But then everybody with a brain in their head has refused to join in the rescue attempt, leaving it to Peter to take a couple of drunken Aussies who do it because everyone else is too chicken, (Steve Le Marquand and Ben Mendelsohn), the sherpa who is doing it because his cousin is one of those missing on the mountain, (Alexander Siddig), a French-Canadian babe who is doing it for the money (Izabella Scorupco), and the legendary half-crazed mountain climber who has a score to settle with someone (Scott Glenn). Ultimately "Vertical Limit" is a film where the computer generated special effects overwhelm the cartoon characters, because there really is no reason to care for most of these fools. The visuals are stunning, the sound track loud, and the melodrama moronic. I would have thought that mountain climbing could be exciting enough without throwing a "Perils of Pauline" plot into the mix, but I guess I was wrong. Bill Paxton's billionaire Elliot Vaugh is the obvious villain in the piece, badgering exprienced climbers into going against their better judgments and continuing climbing K2 as a publicity stunt for his new airline. But in the end O'Donnell's character is no better since he insists on a rescue attempt that ends up killing way more people than it saves. Ask him why he climbed the mountain and he will tell you: "Because it was in the script."

Summary: Awful...Makes Cliffhanger look like a Best Picture candidate
Review: This movie was terrible, and the special effects are about as advanced as 1980 or 1981. The acting, well it was worse than the story or the special effects. This was clearly the real Bill Paxton, and Chris O'Donnell has been lousy in anything I've seen him in. In fact, these guys make Lithgow and Stallone look like Best Supporting Actor and Best Lead Actor candidates for their work in Cliffhanger (and Cliffhanger as Best Picture). On top of all else I didn't like about this movie, it was absurd to think about the rescue team running around at 25,000 feet without even breathing heavy (yet the guys taking it easy waiting for them were wasting away of edema). If you want a mountain movie, go with K-2, or just rent Everest (Imax). At least they're based on real-life (the Imax version IS real-life), and provide a certain amount of inspiration to the viewing experience. Gosh, this one, was BAD!

Review: Horrible plot, inaccurate, horrible actors...It doesn't even have good special effects. The movie is by far the stupidest, most irrational movie i have ever seen.

Summary: It wasn't all that......but it had some good aspects
Review: Overall this is not a good movie. If I went to go see it at the movie theater I would be dissapointed. The acting was terrible. The script and screenplay were bad. The special effects were about a 4 on a scale of 1-10. I want to know what all that talking was about in the beginning of the movie? The actual storyline wasn't revealed until the end of the movie. Things were defintely out of order in this movie. And what is up with that nitrogen stuff? Please tell me that somebody knew it would explode in the sun before they actually got on the mountain. First of all I wouldn't try to climb up a mountain knowing that it is dangerous. I think all mountain and rock climbers are really stuppid or suicidal and they are looking for some action in their boring lives. What happened to going to Cedar Point? I don't have to hang on to the side of a mountain at 25,ooo feet to get a thrill!!!!! Anyway, the only thing that saved this movie is the fact that it showed you how shady people can be in life. and it teaches you that you can't be weak because you'll never know when you have to survive or fight for your life.

Summary: Wonderful Action Packed Adventure Film
Review: Forget What The Critics might have said about this movie,because frankly it doesn't really matter what they think,because they give bad reviews to almost every movie they see.Chris O'Donnel leads an all star cast that includes - Robin Tunney, Bill Paxton and Scott Glenn,they all shine here in this action packed extravaganza. You can read what the movie is about in other reviews but i won't spoil anything for you here. As he did with Goldeneye and The Mask of Zorro,Martin Campbell once again gives us a wonderful action packed movie,with a great story,great acting and awesome action sequences. Also to note,the special effects add to the excitement.If you like movies with thrills,chills,pure excitement and beauty i recommend this winner from Martin Campbell.

Summary: This movie will blow you away!
Review: At first I was very skeptical about watching this movie. I had really bad expectations about it. But after watching I have to say this is the best action/drama I have seen in a long time. The special effects were amazing, the acting and the suspense truly wonderful, it literally had me on the edge of my seat. Chris O' Donnel's acting in this movie was probably his best ever, he was so inspiring when at one point in the movie his sister played by Robin Tunney was talking to him on the radio and said for him to go back and forget trying to rescue her he wouldn't give up on her, and in the end he did save her. It left me in tears. It was so beautiful. You have to see this movie even though as some may say it is not historically accurate. This movie has everything and more. Vertical Limit is what great action movies are all about.

Summary: It tests the limits of your patience
Review: If you like senseless action sequences and random death but don't care about a plot... then by all means watch this movie. The story is so predictable that as soon as the Pakistani and Australian brothers volunteer for the improbable rescue, I found myself doing the sign of the cross for them. Only North Americans may survive this ... flick about the rescue of two "expert" climbers who walk into a storm at 26,000 feet for the sake of a publicity stunt by a billionaire and climber wannabe played by Bill Paxton. Mix into the story some nitroglycerine that seems to pick and choose when to explode, and you have a movie that will insult your intellingence like no other. The characters and the story are so poorly developed that you actually feel no sympathy for the stranded climbers, especially for Annie Garrett, sister of Peter Garrett (played awfully by Chris O'Donnell) who are totally responsable for the mess they are in... and the death of four rescuers and several porters to boot (but who is counting them). Like me, you may find yourself rooting for the nitro when you watch this movie. One final insult to the intelligence of the viewers of the DVD version, is seeing Robin Tunney telling us with ... ice sprinkled on her face, how she had to learn mountain climbing in 10 days to do this movie.

Review: The Movie had lots of action which kept my attention but there should have been more story line behind each actor. Nicholas lea should have had a bigger part. Nicholas is way to Goodlooking and talented to have had such a small role.
