Summary: End of Careers
Review: Robin Tunney has great legs, wow has she grown up. That's about all this horribly contrived movie is worth.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: flawed but fantastic
Review: First things first this movie has a poor script. There is some good dialogue but the story is very muddled, riddled with plot holes and the structure poor. BUT this movie features some amazing scenes from schwarzenegger. Specifically the devils offer which is great fun and the intense fight scene in the pouring rain. Although simple it is one the most intense and beautifully shot fights i have ever seen in a schwarzenegger movie. The cinematography is wonderful and so is the production design. The performances are mainly excellent, apart from the evil catholic priest and robin tunney. And at the centre is schwarzenegger who hold the whole thing together with one of his best performances ever (despite the poor script)and his abundant charisma and screen presence.

Summary: It stinks
Review: This film can be clumped with all the other apocalyptic dramas that came as a direct result of millenial anticipation. This is one of those movies that makes you wonder if Hollywood is cutting back on production costs by hitting up local LA elementary schools for the best writers in the fifth grade classes. The least they could do is hire kids from a good school system.

The associations in the film are extraordinarily weak and lack any sort of logical backing, which is actually rather typical of writers who are barely out of the sensorimotor stage. Hopefully those who wrote this "film" have at least successfully navigated the travails of object permanence.

One prominent example of this ill logic being that Satan is invulnerable to any eartly implement . . . except for a Arnold and his bazooka. That tidbit of knowledge will come in handy during the actual apocalypse. The Four Horseman will be helpless. Oh, and let us not forget the premise: That medieval Catholic priests (in Rome) foretold that Satan would come to earth to impregnate his chosen bride on December 31, 1999 at midnight (Eastern Standard Time mind you)thus signaling the coming of the antichrist. Now, as anyone over the age of 10 can see, how could a priest in medieval Rome predict that Satan would go to a continent that hadn't been discovered (N. America), to a city that hadn't been founded (New York City), at a time that would translate to 5am Rome time. The list of script ridiculousness goes on and on. In short, I haven't seen dog this big since Clifford. This movie is terrible. This movie was so bad that even extensive nudity couldn't have salvaged it. There are not many movies that one can say that about.

As a general rule of thumb, the more Arnold speaks during movies, the worse it is. Example: Terminator 1 and 2 - Good. Jingle All the Way - Bad. On a related note, avoid all movies with Sinbad in them as well.

I recommend that you the movie-going public avoid this movie at all costs and if you really want to see a good movie in the "coming of the antichrist" mold, I highly recommend The Devil's Advocate and The Omen.

Summary: At the End of the Day, this movie is crap
Review: Now, I love a good action flick. But this one doesn't make it on two levels. One, Arnold is so stiff in this movie that it's painful to watch. Arnold will never win an Oscar, but this is really sad. Special effects will only get you so far. The story doesn't have to be a pulitzer prize winner, but it shouldn't be written on a cocktail napkin either. And it cost 75 million to make.

Secondly, I know some people will gripe about this, but how come ever movie with good and evil, evil is all powerful, and good is either weak and vunerable or doesn't seem to exist at all. None of the characters in this movie really believe in God, they just don't want satan taking over the earth. Also how come all these movies have some wierd formula that Satan can use to take over the world and only 3 people in existence know's about it. Come on... I'm not expecting a priest with a cape and a giant G on his chest, but I don't think that in the war against evil, God is passing out dasies. I'd love to see a movie where the demon in a movie runs up against someone good who is really pissed off. Sorry for the rant, but this movie did have some potential, but it went for the tired and cliche. Now if Arnold had been a pissed off Angel fighting the devil, now that would have been interesting. My two cents worth, I'm sure people will disagree...

Summary: A Waste.
Review: A waste of time, money, and film stock. The plot line is laughable, ripe with gaping holes; the fx ultra-cheesy. Not even good for a laugh.

Summary: Supernatural thriller
Review: End of Days received some pretty dire reviews from the critics, but it is actually an exciting and highly enjoyable movie. Arnold Schwarznegger, back after a two year absence from the big screen, performs solidly. It isn't a stereotypical role for Arnie, as he plays Jericho Cane, a widower and struggling alcoholic with real vulnerability; he does at times struggle with some of the emotion that his character has to deal with, but nonetheless, he gets stuck in. The really meaty role in the film belongs to Gabriel Byrne who plays Satan, the devil. Byrne strolls round the streets of New York without a care in the world, and delivers his lines with great panache. The whole cast is pretty strong however, with Kevin Pollak playing an amusing sidekick for Arnie, Robin Tunney as Christine York, the girl who has been chosen by the devil to give birth to the Anti-Christ, Miriam Margolyes as the girl's foster parent, (one of the best scenes in the film is when Margolyes gets to toss Arnie around like a rag doll) and Rod Steiger as Father Kovak. The story is fairly straightforward, with Jericho Cane desperately protecting Christine York from the evil charms of Satan, who needs to plant the seed of the antichrist in the girl before midnight on New Year's Eve. Occasionally, there are some slightly disturbing scenes, and some devoted Christians might not want to watch the film. However, there is absolutely no attempt to be blasphemous. Indeed, Andrew Marlowe's script is challenging and realistic. The music soundtrack isn't the type to buy and listen to on its own, but in the context of the movie, it is very atmopsheric. Overall, I would recomment the film as an enjoyable and challenging watch, with enough action in it to satisfy the tpyical Arnie fan, but with an extra edge to it. It isn't flawless, but few films are, and if you can cut it some slack, you'll enjoy watching it, although it might prove disturbing for some.

Summary: I couldn't wait for the "End of Movie"
Review: "End of Days" was a flop, and deservedly so. The script was garbage, and was about as believable as guy being named Jericho Cane and admitting it. Does anyone in Hollywood know that people actually have normal names?

Anyway, the devil comes to earth in the form of a rich New York business man (why he didn't pick a high school janitor I'll never know) and he must impregnate a young woman that is destined to have his child before midnight of 12/31/00. Of course Arnold is thrust into the action trying to defend the woman from the Prince of Darkness, and very soon blood flows, things explode, and for some reason Rod Steiger plays a priest. (Yeah I know, I don't get it either.)

I will say that Arnold does a pretty good job of playing the burned out alcoholic ex-cop, but why do they always have to give the hero a dead family to make him dark and brooding? Can't people just be dark on their own? From an action standpoint, the movie is pretty good, and the special effects are impressive, but overall this is a pretty bad film. I know Arnold needed the work after being off because of heart surgery, but I would suggest reading the script a little more carefully. This should have been a Rutger Hauer straight to video release.

Summary: OK, so the script was bad, but I still love it
Review: "End of Days" is my favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger film. No other movie of his entertained me as much as this one did. I'm not a huge Arnold fan so that doesn't really say a lot, but I really liked this movie. I've seen it three times, and I'm going to buy it eventually.

OK, so the whole "999" thing was pretty crazy. And yes, I don't know why Satan hired Jericho to protect him when he couldn't be killed anyway. Yes, I also don't know why Satan's wounds could only heal themselves for a certain period of time. If you're a critic, you'll let these things drag down the movie.

However, I was very entertained by this film. The whole concept that a burned out suicidal cop could defeat Satan was very cool to me. I loved the explosions, I loved the effects, and I loved Schwarzenegger's acting. Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Pollack, and Robbin Tunney were all great as well. The whole storyline just really thrilled me.

This film is seriously flawed, but so were some of the other great entertainment films of the past. If you don't care about a bad script and you just want to be entertained, I would see "End of Days".

Summary: An entertaining thriller.
Review: Well the plot of this familiar supernaturnal action thriller has some good moments. Arnold Schwarzenegger gives an good performance is this above average written film. Directed by Peter Hymas(2010). This film is about of course the End of Days.

Gabriel Byrne does a great turn as Satan. Ok it is nothing like Pacino's attempt but it is convincingly downplayed. Robin Tunney seems to have grown up a lot since The Craft and portays the object of Satan's lust in a suitably bewildered and tearful manner.

The Devil has one night to impregnate a girl and bring on a thousand years of darkness. The Church are prepared to kill the girl. The religious twists are not really entered into in any depth but they are there as a backdrop to what is essentially an action film.

Definitely worth seeing, (...) but do not be caught up in the hype. You might jump a couple of times but if you want to be really scared watch something else. Grade:B+. Panavision.
