Rating: Summary: Iron Monkey is yo dadda Review: Iron monkey is one of the best movies i have ever seen. as a matter of fact, my hem hem friend broke up with me because i would not stop raving about it. to be strait forward about it, if you want to maintain a steady relationship with someone, don't buy or watch this movie or you are doomed such as i am. but it is a happy doom.
Rating: Summary: Iron Monkey Kicks *** Review: Iron monkey is a robinhood like story however, the action in this movie makes robinhood look like friar tuck. If you liked the action scenes in The Matrix, well guess what, Woo Ping Yuen is the fight director in this classic movie. I cannot recommend this movie any higher. GREAT MOVIE!
Rating: Summary: This is the gospel! Review: I remember the first time I saw Iron Monkey in HK. I love it then but it wasn't really appreciated until I shared it with my friends in Korea. When I came back to the states in 94 I brought it with me and it spread like wild fire in college. Till this day it is the gospel on which all other HK cinema is judged.
Rating: Summary: Iron Monkey - Donnie Yen Review: I have had this dvd for some time now and all I can say is if you like classical martial arts genre films you are going to love this. The Choreography is superb, action, comedy; and you can even follow the plotline what more do you want.
Rating: Summary: A Rare 5-stars for this story from me Review: I believe that almost all Amazon reviews are too lenient on a film. I'm not a professional, but I would like to think that I know a good movie when I see it.This movie has some of the most incredible fight sequences. Any one of them could be considered to be the best of any HK film. Add to that a descent story and you have a must-have movie. As a special treat to all OUATIC fans out there, we see the Wong Fei-Hung character in his youth! Donnie Yen plays his father in the same spirit that Jet Li portrays Wong Fei-Hung. Definitely a classic. One of my personal top 5.
Rating: Summary: Tai Seng's VHS is NOT worth $60 ! Review: IRON MONKEY has fighting sequences so unbelievably fast, you'll double check to make sure your VCR isn't on fast forward. It's that fast. If you thought THE MATRIX was fast, you ain't seen nothing yet. The super sped-up editing combined with the dazzling wire stunts make this a knock out, blow-you-away experience. However, there are some flaws with the production of this film. The subtitles are my biggest gripe. They are simply WAY too fast. It is very difficult to keep up with them. Characters speak so quick in this movie that you literally have to pause each screen to be able to read it. Okay, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but it's not so far off. Take a course in speed reading before you watch this. Because of this aspect, I did not find the story to be interesting. Toward the end, I found myself fast forwarding the drama sections because it was so frustrating for me. The picture quality actually isn't that bad, although it is fairly grainy. The sound is passable. I highly recommend you don't pay $60 bucks for this. It's really not worth it.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Introduction to Hong Kong Martial Arts Cinema Review: I am a 35 year old wife and mother and have never considered myself a big fan of violent action movies or "silly" martial arts films. A few years ago at a get together with friends, someone popped this gem into the laser disc player. My first glance made me scoff, but 5 minutes later I was seriously hooked. The story is simple and easily recognizable (the archetypal Robin Hood or Zorro story), the cinematography is beautiful, the comedy is hilarious without ever quite going over the top, and the physical prowess of the actors and actresses is astounding. I came away with a new appreciation for this genre, of which The Iron Monkey is perhaps one of the best. If you were dazzled by the incredible fight sequences in The Matrix, treat yourself to their original inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Yuen Woo Ping never let's you down Review: This movie is for anyone who love great action and a good story. Now I can't speak for everyone but I can say that everytime I play this at home or school for my friends, it seems they can never get enough. The fighting is superb so you know Woo Ping had his hands in the choreography. The concept though not original, is never disappointing so you 'll never get bored. The acting is great while I don't know the actors names, they seem to make the story move along smoothly with stops in action or plot. So if you are a fan and want to see who it's done, I truly recommend you pick Iron Monkey up. If your not then I recommend you see this movie first and if your not hook after the first 5 minutes then I seriously recommend you seek help. A movie like Iron Monkey only comes once in a lifetime
Rating: Summary: Father Mule Review: I thought this movie was horrid! There were people having sex with monkeys! There were many times when the monkey pulled out his IRON rod and waved it tauntingly in front of your face! This is not theatre! This is east fornication propaganda! There is one scene when a little boy is involved with beating other men with his "stick"!
