Rating: Summary: Fantastic Movie, Excellent DVD Review: This one is an old favorite.Great story, great characters. I love the stark and bleak cinematography in the outdoor scenes. The liner notes that comes with the DVD are nice as well.
Rating: Summary: Don't believe the hype Review: Way overhyped, with less than stellar casting. This is not a great film, or a great artistic statement.
Rating: Summary: Kurosawa is One of the 20th Century's Best Review: We all know that Akira Kurosawa is one of the 20th century's consummate directors. His interpretations of "Macbeth" ("Throne of Blood") and "King Lear" ("Ran") have made these 400-year-old dramas real for two generations (so far) who would have probably otherwise never been exposed to them. But it is as the screenwriter of "Runaway Train" that he has spoken most personally to me. The Mannheim/Rainkin character (singular!) is commonly described as "existential," but that is a Western conceit; in fact, Kurosawa has gone to the very core of Taoist philosophy in this film. Simply awesome.

Rating: Summary: Entertaining From The Get Go Review: when i first heard of this movie i thought a movie that is an hour and fifty minutes that is based on a train i thought i can get pretty boring after awhile, but as it turns out i was very wrong. Jon Voight plays a man just released from the hole (inside a prison) after three of being in it and is accompanied by Julia's brother Eric Roberts in this thrilling tale about two men breaking out of prison and catching a ride on a train which quickly becomes out of control. Voight is amazing as the title role and really shows his acting skills in this all out preformance. Roberts plays his part well but no comparison to Voight. Some memorable lines i feel came out of this movie such as when Rebecca DeMorney says "Your an animal" Voight replys "No, Worse. I'm Human." an outstanding movie with some violent scenes definatly worth watching
Rating: Summary: Three The Hard Way! Review: You literally become the Runaway Train when watching this movie. A young Eric Roberts is as cheesy as they come and yet so naive. Jon Voight is totally SICK and outstanding in this frozen escapade. Poor Rebecca DeMorney caught up in this joy ride? Far from it! A must see.
