Summary: 40 STORIES OF SHEER ADVENTURE!
Review: Bruce Willis gives his only good preformance,in this non-stop action rollor-coaster ride.Rickman is good as Hans Gruber,But Willis is at his best as McClane. He gets shot in the shoulder, steps on glass, cause he nothing on his feet in the movie, and jumps off the Nakatomi building with a firehose around his waist. It's hilarious when Takagi gets his brains blown out.The best of the series and will remain the best.Yippee ki-ya mother f*cker!-John McClane. The greatest action movie ever made.

Summary: The best action film ever!!
Review: This film contains all the elements that make a action good, and more. With the best villain ever, Alan Rickman, and Bruce Willis in his only decent role ever, Die Hard I is a classic. The only thing bad about this film is that the sequals are poor.

Summary: A wonderful action flick for the Christmas holiday.
Review: Good will wins out over greed in this timeless, action-packed holiday film classic. James Bond meets It's a Wonderful Life.

Summary: OK
Review: Hollywood's idea of action entertainment, meaning constant, numbing explosions, cartoon heroes, and forced comic relief. Rickman is a fine actor who shows flashes, but the screenplay never quite develops him into a match for the best Bond villains.

Review: John McTiernan's "Die Hard" is one of the more celebrated entries in the action-adventure genre. Yet, the film upon close inspection is really just another "shoot-'em-up" production that ultimately wears out its welcome long before the final baddie is gunned down.

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is a New York police officer who has arrived in Los Angeles for Christmas. His wife (Bonnie Bedelia) has accepted a vice-president position with Nakatomi Corporation. While McClane is attending a Christmas party at his wife's new office building, a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) seize the high-rise so that they may steal millions of dollars in negotiable bonds. McClane takes it upon himself to defeat the terrorists and free the hostages they have taken.

"Die Hard" does introduce some novel aspects to the genre - it's a nice change of pace to see an everyman hero instead of the typical secret agent or military super-soldier at the center of an action film, it's nice to see an action hero with a sensitive side, and it's also nice to see a villain with a degree of sophistication. But "Die Hard" intermixes these elements with so many loud explosions and gunfights that one becomes numb after awhile. Throw in too many supporting characters who are deficient in the intelligence department and one inexcusable resurrection at the end, and all you're left with is a film that is great to look at but nothing more. Willis more than proves he can play an action hero and Bedelia adds a welcome degree of charm to the proceedings. Yet, "Die Hard" turns out to be only a smidgen better than its action contemporaries from the period and that is not enough to make it something special.

Summary: What you talkin' about, Willis?
Review: I'll tell you what he's talkin' about - action, Baby!

This is, by far, one of the best action movies ever. Bruce Willis is great in it. He plays both humor and heavy drama very well in this.

Also, let's give it up for Alan Rickman. He made Hans Gruber one of the all-time greatest film villians!

Definitely a classic film. Writing about it makes me want to go and watch it again right now!

Summary: Oh my god, the quarterback is toast!!!!!
Review: John McTiernan delivers again, like only he can. John McTiernan resume includes: Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, Medicine Man, Last Action Hero, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, The 13th Warrior, and he is working on Die Hard 4.0. Did I forget to mention he also made PREDATOR? McTiernan is in kind of a slump currently with Basic, Rollerball, and the Thomas Crown Affair being his last three movies, but he was at the top of his game when he made Die Hard (his first movie after making Predator).

Die Hard was also the introduction of Bruce Willis as an action hero. His previous movies (Blind Date and Sunset) didn't depict him as the star he now is. McTiernan did a fabulous job with the character of John McClane, making him a hero for the people. McTierman makes the F.B.I. as well as the Deputy of Police look like fools, and make horrible decisions/protocol maneuvers, and McClane make all the right decisions/wise cracks on what idiots they are. These scenarios make the audience love John McClane.

I said he makes all the right decisions, well; actually, McClane should have kept his shoes on. Alan Rickman (Harry Potter series, Dogma, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) plays the main villain Hans, and does a fantastic job. Especially with lines like "you really don't think you have a chance against us do you?" Once again, McTierman uses simple tactics to get you to despise the villain, but it works some how, despite being simple.

Reginald VelJohnson (Posse, Family Matter (TV series), Crocodile Dundee, and Ghost Busters) plays the lovable police officer that takes McClane side, and agrees w/his opinion as a fellow police office. He also plays a wonderful unlikely hero in the end.

As a whole this is a must have in your DVD collection, as is the whole trilogy. You can buy this movie with out having ever viewed it and feel comfortable you will like it (though you must live on the moon to never have scene this movie, and if you do get a satellite ;). Nevertheless, strong recommendation for this film whether its to rent, buy, or as a gift.

Summary: Perfect action flick to watch during the Christmas time
Review: "Die Hard"... what more to say that has already been said? One of the best action movies of all time. But it also doubles as a good Christmas-time movie.

Our hero John McClaine, played by Bruce Willis, is a cop from New York who comes down to L.A. to spend time with his family during Christmas. His wife works at a building called the Nakatomi building, he visits her there, only to be faced with something really bad. Terrorists take over the building and want to get something of value that resides in it. Hans Gruber, played by Alan Rickman, is the leader of the German terrorists. They've got the hostages under control, so everything seems to be going smoothly for the bad guys... unfortunately, John McClaine goes medieval on their asses and stops at nothing to rid the place of terrorists to save not only the hostages, but his wife as well.

There's plenty of action packed scenes to keep you, the viewer, entertained. Explosions, lots of shoot 'em up scenes, fighting, etc. Of course, a few one liners, some cheesy, and some just very badass ("Yippie-kai-yay, mother [fudger]"). There's also plenty of humor throughout the movie (the two FBI agents that share the last name Johnson, but no relation: one on the radio, "This is Agent Johnson... no, the other one."). "Die Hard" is pretty much your typical action flick, only better since it's one of the first wave of action movies (released in the '80s). A larger-than-life hero saves the day from the evil terrorists' plot and gets the woman. But John here isn't very much larger-than-life. He's still human. He gets hurt badly in many scenes, and at one point he feared he's gonna die soon, but he still does his job to save the hostages, kill the terrorists, and save his wife.

Want an action movie to enjoy? "Die Hard" should be your first thought that comes to mind. Want a good Christmas movie to enjoy as well? Look no further. Stick this into your DVD player once December 25 rolls by (or maybe Dec. 24), or buy it for someone to stick into their stocking. By any means necessary, watch this movie. A true masterpiece of the action genre, as well as an action classic.

Summary: Action Classic
Review: This is a popcorn movie with smarts. It's got everything you want in a good action flick; an average guy hero, charismatic(yet sadistic) villains, dumb beaureaucrats, and things blow up real good. Bruce Willis established himself as a film star after his stint on "Moonlighting" and Alan Rickman introduced himself to audiences as an actor to be reckoned with. The beauty of this movie is it's total lack of pretense outside of entertaining the audience. Today's action film-makers can take a cue from this film.
