Summary: Outstanding movie with strong characters and story!
Review: Everyone has a fascination with the submarine force and this movie takes it to a new level.

Washington and Hackman play U.S. Navy submarine officers (Hackman the Commanding Officer and Washington the new replacement Executive Officer) who are sent out on an emergency patrol because of a radical Russian faction in the Goverment that tries to take control and eventually gains control of a Soviet ICBM (Nuclear Missle) facility.

Without giving away the entire movie, an ECM comes through that is not a drill saying they are to launch their missles to prevent ICBM launch by the radicals however another ECM comes through but is broken off which could or could not say they are to stop their launch.

The remaining story is extremely tense and keeps you on the edge of your seat as they have to deal not only with the missile launch and ECM but other things as well!

The movie never gets old and is always fun to watch even knowing the outcome! Yet another great action movie from the producers (Don Simpson-Jerry Bruckheimer )and director (Tony Scott)of Top Gun!

Summary: Good sub movie
Review: Crimson Tide is a good movie who likes submarine movies.Especially the combat between USS Alabama and the Russian Akula is very good. But when the mutiny starts things are getting a bit boring. But the dialogs between Hackman and Washington are very good. Also the drama of the young sailors that are going to a nuclear war is very sensitive.

Summary: HANZ ZIMMER = GOD
Review: I bought these two CDs separately, but when I saw they got compiled, I had to take a look. I just want who ever is reading this to know that Hanz Zimmer is the master of the movie score, making music that not only goes along with the movie's theme, but enhances the experience considerably. Mutiny on Crimson Tide is AWESOME, and so is EVERYTHING on the Rock. Buy this!

Summary: Awesome
Review: Great writing, acting, plot, characters. Nothing is lacking in the submarine movie.

Summary: My Favorite Movie. Absolutely stunning.
Review: There are things I love to see in a movie- good acting, good music, good plots. It is rare to see a movie that combines all three so flawlessly as this one does.

The plot? Russian dissidents seize control of a nuclear missile base and have threaten to launch at the United States. The U.S.S. Alabama has been ordered to launch missiles to take out the base, but the crew is divided between their captain (Gene Hackman) and their executive officer (Denzel Washington). After the ship is attacked by a renegade sub Hackman wants to ignore an unconfirmed order to stand down. Washington wants to confirm the order before firing.

The audience has the ultimate catch-22. Do you side with Hackman, follow orders, and launch missiles? Or do you do the safe thing and go with Washington? It's not an easy choice and it is not presented to the audience with a clear-cut moral either.

Kudos to the actors all around- Washington, Hackman, and the rest of the cast do a terrific job in their roles. The music is stunning (I own and LOVE the soundtrack) and the action will keep you on the edge of your seat.

It is hard to ever say that one particular movie is a favorite, but if I ever had a favorite movie it would be this. Great movie.

Summary: What dreams may come
Review: This was an excellent movie, I was hoping that they would all be happy with each other and when all the tragedy struck I couldn't wait to see if they would all find each other again. Gripping story.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Intense.
Review: This movie is NOT supposed to be 100% realistic. This is for the benefit of all you couch potato landlubbers out there. But it is an AWESOME film about power, and moral conformity. Silly details like the captain yelling "Hard to left!" (instead of "Hard to PORT!") are not enough to lesson this film's true value. Buy it, see it, love it.

Summary: Plot and technical issues detract from suspense
Review: It has its suspenseful moments, but I couldn't enjoy it because of plot and technical problems. Without spoiling the story I'll just say that it doesn't make sense that the situation presented would result in nuclear war. The arcade-like portayal of submarine warfare also hurt this movie. In my opinion a much better modern submarine film is The Hunt for Red October. Speaking of which... did anybody else notice some of the superficial similarities? The box cover is too alike for it to be a coincidence, the chanting music is very reminiscent, as are the typed titles displaying location and such.

Summary: Thought provoking.
Review: A well written, thought provoking story, with superb acting by D. Washington and G. Hackman. Kudos, gentlemen. To the enlisted men who claim insult, I say, "Get off your high horse!" Nobody ever claimed this movie represents the naked truth. It is meant to be ENTERTAINMENT! And it entertains very well. If actual veterans are so peeved by this movie that they'd give it one star, and whine about it like a sissy, then you have to wonder what DOES go on down there in the deep. Then, the movie is even more thought provoking.
