Rating: Summary: Not Great! Review: The previews made me want to get out and watch the movie. To my surprise, this movie [was unacceptable]. I did everthing I could to stay awake. The story was not interesting. The acting was bad. Vin Diesel may be a popular actor, but his popularity wasn't enough to make this a good movie. It just wasn't interesting. Don't be hyped by this movie, it's not all that.
Rating: Summary: Great Action Flick Review: I enjoyed this dvd movie more than when I saw it in the movie theater. VIn Diesel's portrayal of Xander Cage, the anti-hero who saves the world, is effective. Lot's of X-treme action and adventure involved. If you like James Bond movies, you'll like this one (even if the tuxedo wearing spy image was killed early in the movie). I enjoyed the director's comments. I came to realize that there are many things that go into producing and directing in order to create movie magic. Creating these type movies involves dangerous work. His comments added depth and a better understanding of the characters. I appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: At least we get to see him with his shirt off... Review: It got 3 stars because of the car. I loved the car. As for Vin, I was a tad disappointed in his performance. I mean, anyone who has seen "Multi-Facial" KNOWS this man can flat out act. Maybe the script/lines weren't his style, I dunno. The action was good. No one bought the avalanche that could destroy a building but couldn't hurt an antenna, but it was still interesting. Good villians, great cars (I still sob over the Charger in FAST AND FURIOUS), and adequate acting. No Oscars winners in this one. Worth watching, but not the best movie Vin's ever been in.
Rating: Summary: best action in a movie! Review: I didnt give it 5 though because the middle of this movie really sags. The action in this movie is like a "U" Action packed beginning and ending! As a mater of fact it has some of the best action sequences in a movie, BUT its not non-stop action. I thought it was better than the fast and the furious though!
Rating: Summary: Say WHAAAAAAA? Review: First, the Fast and the Furious, now THIS? Why, oh WHY are movies this idiotic being made? Look past all of the "eckstreeeemly kewl ackshin seeenses" for a second (which I'm surprised didn't win an Oscar for 'Best Animated Movie') and you'll find a boring, badly-acted, hard-to-follow [mimic] of Bond. If you like this movie, ask yourself this: If Barbra Streisand leaped out of an exploding Jeep from 50,000 feet up in "Yentl", would you like that too? I rest my case. Feel free to click 'Not Helpful' now.
Rating: Summary: entertaining Review: Mindless action, the storyline is lame at best and the acting is the cornerstone of what will become a Vin Dieselesque performance that you will expect to be cloned many times in the near future. As for the action and effects, most of the things going on you know for sure are not possible and fairly far fetched to believe with a heavy dependence on computer generated and blue screen effects. I sometimes wish I could be 6 years old again in mindset so I could really enjoy films like this. I remember watching Tom and Jerry and it was the greatest thing in the world because I could care less what the storyline was, i just wanted to see things blow up and get beaten to a pulp. To sum up XXX in a sentence... Its an adult cartoon with a script written just above the skill of a XXX movie writer but with a big budget for a who's hot now actor and plenty of effects to keep the whole trailer park entertained.
Rating: Summary: XxX is domino action pack !!!!!! Review: This movie is for the action junkie in all of us and it's loaded and done right. Asia is a delight to watch anytime. Those who call this a dumb movie obvious do not enjoy action and would rate all actions movies the same. This one is a joy to watch with a plot that follow the storyline. If you like james bond type action, american style, then you will love this! Enjoy that good win over evil!
Rating: Summary: OK, but not worth the hype Review: This is gonna be short and sweet. XXX has great action, a great soundtrack, and great acting. It also has every stereotype ever conceived for the young teenage boy, which, while watching it, makes me feel like the people in the movie and myself are a bunch of idiots. Yes, it really is the PS2 James Bond, but do we really want to see such a thing? I found out I didn't. I would give it 2 stars, but I ended up buying this thing so I have to justify that. Unless you're a 10-14 yr. old, I wouldn't recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Adolescent confection perfected Review: I've heard this franchise (yes, there will be sequels) as the first truly "American" answer to James Bond. Well, there are many problems with this claim on many different levels, not the least of which is that XXX seems to have been made for 12-14 year old boys. It's as soul-less as a video game and Vin Diesel (who actually CAN act -- just watch "Multi-Facial") is as wooden and pre-programmed as a virtual hero can be. Even when he tries to emote, he can't quite pull it off. I can't think of one genuinely funny moment in the entire film. Xander's quips aren't even clever. They are as two-dimensional and hackneyed as the characters. The movie itself isn't clever enough to be a parody, nor is it good enough to be an homage. Whether it's Diesel or the character, XXX simply lacks the charisma and sheer charm of any of the James Bond portrayers. Diesel would seriously work better as one of the thugs he so skillfully dispatches throughout the two hours of this X-box / commercial. Yes the visuals are stunning as are the stunts, yet I can't help but remember that a stunt-man was killed while making XXX seem invincible. Did I miss it or was there NO mention of this man's death anywhere in the film? Correct me if I'm wrong! I would like to think that Diesel or Cohen have that much class. Yes, movie fans, as effortless as this film may look, in the real world, real people die trying to be Superman. Since it made nearly 150 million in the theaters alone, XXX is sure to have at least two sequels. Should keep plenty of hack writers employed for a few years. I just wonder how many more stunt-men or women will die in an effort to make XXX indestructible, at least virtually so.
